Evolution Online: My 10,000× Reward System Multiplies Everything

Chapter 16: O-One Billion Evolution Points?! Who could that be?

Twenty minutes later, Kaelen stood before the bathroom mirror.

The ragged boy from the slums was gone.

Looking back at him was someone even he barely recognized.

Kaelen stood in front of the mirror in the bathroom, staring at his new appearance after taking a hot shower and trimming his hair with a pair of scissors.

On closer inspection, he didn’t look anything like before. His sunken cheeks now looked healthy, his jaw had been chiseled to perfection, and his gray eyes looked sharper than ever.

He stared at his reflection for a moment, reflecting on his past ordeal and what awaited him in the future. The 10,000× Reward System had not only given him a path to godhood, but it had also taken him from rags to riches. And though he was currently riding the waves of a fake identity, Kaelen now strongly believed in the quote: Fake it till you make it.

He was going to fake his way into the stronghold as a mysterious, powerful, and wealthy awakener, and before he got exposed, he would make it happen.

After all, he was halfway there already.

With the 10,000× Reward System, the battle was already half won.

He grabbed the clean clothes prepared for him and quickly slipped into them. They were all-black combat outfits, with a black hat that he had specially requested from the bank manager.

He stepped out of the bathroom to see a buffet prepared for him on the table. The aroma was tantalizing, but strangely enough, his stomach didn’t growl in hunger.

That was when Kaelen realized he wasn’t feeling hungry at all, even after not eating for a whole month, and only once a day before that because he had traded most of his meat for other amenities Stephanie and her mother needed.

Thinking about it alone made Kaelen’s jaw clench, but he didn’t dwell on it. Things had changed for the better now.

He was now one of the strongest players in the main world of Evolution Online and worth billions of dollars in assets.

He looked at the trays of food now with a lack of interest. Evolution Online was indeed strange, providing nutrients to his body from evolving in-game without proper gaming equipment. Or maybe it was because he had awakened. He didn’t think too much about it and grabbed an apple from the table, taking a bite as he walked to the door.

He paused before the door and slowly exhaled before he adjusted the hat on his head and swung the door open.

Several guards and bank officials were already waiting outside, and the moment the door opened, they all bowed their heads as one.

Kaelen was momentarily stunned, but he didn’t stop to acknowledge them and immediately began moving towards the exit.

They immediately ran after him, and the guards surrounded him in a defensive formation, while the bank manager quickly caught up to him to fill him in on the arrangements.

"You look good, sir. I’ve prepared your convoy for the central bank in the stronghold. The ride might take a few hours, but I will be coming with you to refer you directly to the president of the central bank. He’s an SSS-rank awakener just like you."

Kaelen almost stumbled on hearing the bank manager’s words but composed himself and shook his head nonchalantly. But he knew it wouldn’t be easy for him going forward.

An SSS-rank awakener could easily tell the aura of everyone around them and would be able to tell which rank Kaelen really was.

He coughed awkwardly. "That’s good."

They finally exited the bank through a private exit, and Kaelen was left stunned once more as he saw several luxurious cars he’d never come across in the slums lined up for him, with an unsettling number of guards who all bowed on his arrival and held the door open for him.

He entered the van, which was even more luxurious inside, while the bank manager sat opposite him with a stiff posture like a kid sitting across from his father.

Kaelen couldn’t contain his curiosity as the car began pulling away.

"Why do you have so many guards?"

The bank manager flinched before he laughed awkwardly. "I know you’re very strong, sir, but I can’t let my biggest client get into a scuffle with assassins and bounty hunters."

Kaelen was confused, but seeing as the bank manager had said it like it was completely normal sent him into a spiral of emotions.

Before he could ask for details, the convoy slowed down before the stronghold gates, making Kaelen hold his breath. He couldn’t see what was happening ahead as the van he was in was somewhere around the middle of the convoy.

He didn’t have time to panic when the convoy sped up once more, and before his eyes, glued to the tinted glass, they sped through the gates and into the stronghold.

Just as fast as one could blink, the view escalated from rags to riches. Brick houses, tall skyscrapers, luxurious cars, healthy people dressed in fine clothes chattering amongst themselves without a care in the world as they went about their day, and it only got better the farther they went.

At this point, Kaelen was glued to the window like a kid entering the city for the first time. He couldn’t help it.

This went on for a while until Kaelen had lost track of time, when the convoy began pulling into a tall skyscraper. The tallest Kaelen had seen yet, and he immediately knew they’d arrived.

Except there was clearly a problem...

Why was the central bank so crowded outside?

Meanwhile...

Somewhere in a luxurious estate, a girl with wavy black hair was peeping through the shutters of the window, while a blue-haired girl sat cross-legged in the expensive living room.

They were both silent for a moment when the curly-haired girl suddenly exclaimed.

"Oh! They’re going. I think they’re finally leaving!" Cindra exclaimed.

Black Rose immediately stood up from her seat and walked over to her friend, peeping outside the estate. There were several people there with cameras and microphones, but from the looks of it, they were leaving in a hurry like they had received a better story to cover.

Black Rose was relieved the press were finally leaving, but at the same time, she was curious. The press were known for being relentless and could stalk a person day and night without rest—especially someone they thought had killed a Mythic Dragon in Evolution Online.

Cindra was ahead of her in thought and quickly ran back to switch on the TV for the latest news report that had swayed the press away from the Seventh Dragon Slayer.

"...We have just received several reports from the local bank in the slums that an unidentified SSS-rank awakener had arrived at the stronghold after single-handedly cutting through a horde of demonic beasts in the wasteland just to make a transaction of one billion Evolution Points into cash..."

"O-One billion?!" Cindra exclaimed in shock.

Black Rose couldn’t hide her surprise either and immediately focused on the man dressed in all black with a hat that covered his face, stepping out of the convoy and calmly walking into the bank while several guards with riot shields protected him from the savage press.

’One billion Evolution Points?’ she frowned.

The fact that the person was trying to withdraw one billion Evolution Points simply meant they had more in their EP bank reserved for further evolution.

Who could that be... and what could possibly give a person so many Evolution Points?
