As soon as the convoy was spotted, the crowd quickly rushed toward it with their cameras, but the vehicles didn’t stop or slow down until they pulled up at the entrance of the bank, which had been barricaded and had guards with riot shields deployed.

A group of central bank officials immediately walked out of the bank, and one held the door to the van open for Kaelen and the local bank manager to step out.

They bowed respectfully before gesturing for them to follow their lead as they walked into the building.

The moment Kaelen stepped through the doors, he was immediately stunned by the view before him. If he wasn’t told this was a bank, he might’ve thought it was a 5-star hotel just from the lobby design.

The hall was vast, and there was so much space that even though there were quite a lot of people in there, it still looked empty. And out of everyone in the bank, even with his neat clothes, Kaelen still looked the poorest.

Instead of going to a bank teller, Kaelen was guided straight to an elevator at the edge of the building, and one of the bank officials clicked the button for the highest floor as the elevator doors closed and began ascending.

The elevator itself was mostly made of glass and had a beautiful view of the prosperous city sprawling behind it, giving Kaelen a rough idea of how much it would cost to live a stable life there.

The elevator was extremely fast but steady. It didn’t take long for them to arrive at the top floor, and when the doors slid open, the hallway they stepped into was mostly empty, with only a few staff members in sight.

They led Kaelen to the end of the hallway where a grand door stood, but they didn’t go any further and bowed one last time to him and the local bank manager before making their exit.

The bank manager took the lead and knocked softly on the door, and without waiting for a reply, pushed it open for Kaelen to step through before following behind him.

The office looked even grander than the lobby and was nothing like a regular office, with unnecessary things like a wine stand with an expensive wine collection and a private bar.

A tall man with snow-white hair and a scar across his left eye was mixing himself a drink at the bar, and when the local bank manager immediately bowed in respect, Kaelen knew that was the boss.

He didn’t follow suit and kept his back straight, staring directly at the man, who simply smiled. But it didn’t reach his eyes.

"Please take a seat while I get you something to drink," he said calmly.

Kaelen didn’t object and took a seat in the office lounge. Soon enough, the man came over with two glasses and poured them each a drink.

The bank manager quickly thanked him before looking down and downing the glass in one shot. Kaelen didn’t touch his drink. He simply adjusted the glass on the table before looking up at the white-haired man.

"You don’t look like you’re here for chitchat," the man commented on Kaelen’s cold behavior.

The bank manager laughed awkwardly. "He just came from the wasteland and hasn’t had any rest, sir."

"Impressive. Then I’ll go straight to the point," the white-haired man said, and continued. "My name’s Hunter, and I’m the president of the central bank for Stronghold 5."

"I asked about your details but discovered you’re a ghost in Stronghold 5, which makes me wonder why you came here to do business. Don’t get me wrong, I honestly don’t care who you are. But in order to convert such a huge amount of currency—how much was it again? One billion Evolution Points—you have to have an account with us, and for that, we’ll need to verify your identity," President Hunter said calmly as his gaze peered into Kaelen’s soul.

Kaelen didn’t flinch. He knew the president was trying to pry information out of him, but he wasn’t going to back down after coming this far. His lips tugged into a smirk.

"That rule only applies to residents of Stronghold 5, and as the president of the central bank you claim to be, you should know that much," Kaelen bluffed confidently as he stared right back at President Hunter.

The president didn’t back down either, and they entered a deadlock as their auras began leaking. But it was obvious the president’s aura was far more refined and powerful, and the moment President Hunter latched onto that, he didn’t hold back anymore. His aura exploded from his chest in a powerful shockwave that distorted the air in the room.

The effect was instant. Kaelen felt gravity distort around him and felt his blood rush to his head as his internal organs compressed. He was in intense pain, but he struggled to keep his expression neutral.

But at that moment, his body betrayed him as a trickle of blood slid from his nostrils.

Seeing this, President Hunter smiled calmly. He had always had his doubts about the mysterious man who claimed to have survived and slaughtered his way through a horde of mutated beasts, which very few people alive could accomplish.

"You’re wrong. If you’re so smart, you should know that rule is strictly for S+-rank awakeners. I don’t know what story you sold to this man that fooled him, but I don’t think so."

The bank manager wasn’t spared from the immense pressure either, but he fared much better than Kaelen as a decent awakener. He stared at Kaelen in surprise and confusion now, while internally cursing himself for falling into whatever trap Kaelen had set for him.

Kaelen, on the other hand, remained silent for a moment as his face turned ashen and he lowered his head.

This was enough to confirm that President Hunter was right. It didn’t matter if Kaelen actually had that many Evolution Points in his account, but as a fake awakener, he was going to be taken in for investigation to trace the source of his wealth, and if it was actually genuine, he’d be slapped with a massive tax for wasting their time.

But before President Hunter could speak once more, a powerful shockwave exploded from Kaelen’s chest, knocking over the furniture, destroying the expensive wine collection, and shattering the floor-to-ceiling windows that overlooked the city from the top floor.

The aura didn’t stop at the top floor, sweeping across the bank premises and throughout the entire city.

The press waiting downstairs all felt the powerful aura send chills down their spines, and the crowd immediately fell into chaos as they all speculated it had to be none other than the mysterious SSS-rank awakener having a standoff with the famous President Hunter.

The entire news channel immediately fell into chaos.

President Hunter’s calm expression finally cracked. He looked at Kaelen like an absolute monster.

"What... are you?"
