Evolution Online: My 10,000× Reward System Multiplies Everything

Chapter 37: It’s just a Sandwich and 50 bucks. Welcome back to Evolution Online!

After the contractual process and transfer of property, Kaelen left the estate company with Cindra to inspect the house, even after making full payment.

It didn’t take long before they arrived at a serene and clean neighborhood where the mansion stood.

The gate had a smart lock that automatically opened it after scanning Cindra’s face, which was one of the reasons she came—to reset it for Kaelen’s use.

Its compound was large and spacious, and its garage was big enough to contain a collection of luxury cars.

It had everything and more Kaelen could possibly ask for, like multiple floors, a private garden, a swimming pool, a home theater, a gym, and a guest house.

It was built for maximum privacy.

Except, the moment Kaelen stepped into the master bedroom, he immediately noticed something was off.

Every other aspect of the house was spotless, but the bedroom looked like it had a squatter, making Kaelen stand on guard.

"You lived here alone?" he turned to ask Cindra, who was sprawled on the unmade bed, looking exhausted.

"Yeahh. What about you? Moving in alone?" she asked as she propped her chin up on her hand.

"Yeah," he replied as he walked over to the side of the bed, when he spotted something purple sticking out from under the pillow.

He grabbed the strap and pulled it out, only to be stunned at finding a purple bra under the pillow of a supposedly new house.

He caught a fast movement in his peripheral vision, but before he could even react, Cindra had already pounced on the bra and hid it behind her back.

"W-What do you think you’re doing?" Her face flushed.

It took Kaelen a moment to understand what was happening. He scoffed in disbelief. "What do you mean by that? What the hell is your bra doing under the pillow of a house you listed for sale?"

"W-Well, no one moves into a new house the same day they buy it," Cindra said in her defense.

Kaelen was still at a loss for words when he spotted another piece of clothing sticking out of the walk-in closet. He immediately walked towards it before Cindra could stop him and pushed the door open to see an entire wardrobe filled with clothes, shoes, and designer bags, while a few pieces of clothing were on the floor like the owner had left in a hurry.

"..."

"What the hell is this?!"

"I was planning on moving my stuff after I sold the house. I don’t have space for all this stuff in my house. You can use another room till I officially move," the woman said shamelessly with rosy cheeks.

"W-What?" Kaelen was at a loss for words. "Do you realize this is my house now?!"

He finally understood that look of pity from the estate manager. Was Cindra notorious for leeching off the new owners of her house like this?!

Kaelen angrily pointed a finger at her but didn’t know what to say to the shameless woman. "I’m going to go wash up now. I don’t want to see you or any of your property in my house when I’m done," he said and stormed out of the room.

He had never been so stressed about someone before.

He pinched the bridge of his nose and took a deep breath to calm himself down. He was glad every room in the house came with a gaming pod.

He planned on entering the game once more, so he quickly texted Helen his new address to send someone to pick up the car for the additional perks he’d opted for on the Koenigsegg.

Then he took off his clothes and disappeared into the bathroom. He spent a good minute inside, letting the hot shower run over his skin and relax his muscles.

By the time Kaelen stepped out, it had already gotten dark outside. But because no one had arrived yet to pick up the car, he couldn’t enter the game just yet and decided to go downstairs to eat something—for the first time in two months.

The technology behind Evolution Online never ceased to amaze Kaelen. He remembered the stars and planets he’d seen beyond the main game world and couldn’t help but wonder if Evolution Online was truly just a game or something more.

But before he could think too much about it, he heard a sound downstairs and immediately went silent as he listened carefully. But even after a moment, he didn’t hear anything else.

To be sure, he quickly activated [Sharp Senses], and just as he’d thought, there was actually someone moving around in the dark kitchen.

The first thought that came to his mind was bounty hunters.

He immediately stood up with a towel still wrapped around his waist and hurried downstairs to investigate. He had to keep [Sharp Senses] active so he wouldn’t get lost in the house as he made his way to the kitchen, and when he arrived at the bottom of the stairs, he saw a figure bent over by one of the floor cabinets, trying to reach for something above them.

He quickly flipped the lights on, ready to snap the intruder out of existence. The figure was startled and turned, but on seeing who it was, they relaxed.

"Oh, thank you. I was trying to reach the ketchup," Cindra said as she began jumping on her toes for the top shelf.

Kaelen nearly popped a vein.

The problem wasn’t that Cindra was still in the house, but that she had changed into more comfortable clothes—a pair of short shorts and an oversized T-shirt—and was literally making herself a sandwich in the kitchen.

Kaelen wanted to scream but didn’t have the voice to. "What do you think you’re doing?"

"Can’t you see I’m making myself something to eat? And before you ask, I don’t have any money to book a ride, so I’m waiting for you to loan me some cash," she said like it was the most normal thing.

"What the hell happened to the $120k I sent you?!"

"About that, it’s in a fixed deposit. I’m trying to curb my habit of terrible spending, you see."

"Can you stop talking like this is normal? Do you haunt everyone who buys a house from you like this?!"

"C’mon, it’s just a sandwich and 50 bucks."

Kaelen hated the fact that she didn’t see any problem with her actions. She had to be rage-baiting him right now.

But before he could speak, the doorbell rang, and Kaelen paused, remembering he’d sent for someone to pick up the car.

"Come here," he said and grabbed the woman’s wrist. "I’ll have someone drop you off at your place," he said as he dragged her to the front door, but upon opening it, he was surprised to see Helen standing there.

The two parties paused to stare at each other. Helen stared in surprise at Kaelen, who had only a towel wrapped around his waist, with the woman she recognized to be the famous Cindra dressed in a way that was too comfortable for a business visit.

Seeing the both of them, there was only one thing that came to her mind.

Cindra, on the other hand, looked at the unprofessional and slightly revealing clothes the woman had chosen to wear to a man’s house.

"Who are you?" Cindra asked.

"Ah, I’m sorry. The gate was open, and I thought I’d let myself in. Sorry for disturbing your, uhmm..." Helen said with a stiff smile.

Cindra didn’t try to correct her as she stared at Helen, when Kaelen handed the keys over to the woman.

"Can you do me a favor and drop this drunk woman off on your way back? I’ll tip you generously when I come to pick up the car."

"I’m not drunk," Cindra refuted.

"Uhh, that’s fine. You don’t have to."

"You’re really terrible at accommodating visitors."

Kaelen scoffed disdainfully before he slammed the door in her face. He exhaled slowly, walking back upstairs, when he came across the unfinished sandwich Cindra had left behind.

"I guess that’s what we’ll be having for dinner," he said as he grabbed it and took a big bite before returning to his room.

Now he was alone and had handled the car business. It was time to enter the game once more.
