Evolution Online: My 10,000× Reward System Multiplies Everything
Chapter 77: ASCEND!Stephanie sat on her bed with her hands clasped beneath her jaw anxiously as she watched the livestream of the expedition go wrong. It was the same one she had been at, but she was killed even before she could realize what was going on.
It was only after being logged out that she realized the magnitude of the event, and it wasn’t looking good the moment she watched one of the beasts swat Black Rose to the side like a fly. Even the Emperor himself wasn’t doing so well, and it was obvious to her that the advance team was only buying time. Because at that point, the invasion was inevitable.
That was when something—or someone—stole the scene, and before anybody could ask, a man casually walked through the advance team like a ghost, moving towards the dragon like a madman.
The first thing the world noticed was his outfit. The exact same one the miners wore for the expedition. He might as well be the only surviving miner in the expedition, and he decided to walk straight into the maws of danger.
One of the advance team members tried to grab him, but their hands only clasped air, because though it looked like the miner was walking slowly, he was moving incredibly fast at the same time.
The comment section went ablaze with those who were safe enough to be typing on their phones and not looking over their shoulders, but Stephanie didn’t need to look at the comment section to understand what was happening.
As soon as she saw the back of the man, she recognized him even before his face was revealed to the camera.
Her mouth hung open in surprise and disbelief.
She wasn’t the only one who seemed to recognize him, and Black Rose lifted her head through the screen, just enough to see the man as well, her eyes wide in disbelief like she’d just discovered something no one else was aware of.
"THAT DISGUSTING SCENT... ARE YOU THEIR KING?"
The dragon’s voice boomed through the speakers, making her clutch her ears.
That was when the man finally spoke. His voice was calm as a slow-flowing river.
"I’m no king... but they call me humanity’s strongest warrior for a reason."
"K-Kaelen?!" she blurted.
That man was without a doubt her ex-boyfriend.
But while others were speculating why there was a miner challenging the dragon, while the Emperor was as pale as a sheet, Stephanie was beginning to connect the dots.
That cocky attitude... that calm demeanor. She knew Kaelen well enough to know he wouldn’t risk his life, even in a video game, just to look cool before the whole world.
She didn’t need to see it to know he had a trick up his sleeves. And it had to be something that he could fall back on.
"That’s it..."
Her intuition was right, right from the start. And Black Rose’s reaction said it all.
This swindler had faked his identity to get close to her idol. But where she got it wrong before was that she thought he was doing it for money.
He wasn’t. He had so much money that he just wanted to take advantage of Black Rose. And that was because... he’s Kaelen Cross!
The truth was right there in her face the whole time, but she’d been too consumed by envy.
Stephanie suddenly began laughing maniacally in her bedroom, sending chills down the spine of all those who could hear her.
She hadn’t forgotten about the Emperor’s one million evolution points reward price for any information about the infamous Kaelen Cross.
If it were before, she planned on just providing information about his history in the slums with her. But after what he did to her on that ship, embarrassing her like that, she was going to reveal everything she knew about him.
You said the Stronghold 2 Governor killed your parents?
You said the Emperor is behind the destruction of Stronghold 5?
If that’s true... let’s see how long you can survive after I tell them everything.
"You should’ve listened to me and come find me right as soon as you awakened."
"You brought this on yourself, Kaelen. I wanted to turn my back and walk away. But because you think you’re better than me... you shall pay the price!"
She immediately ran to her door and kicked it open with a bang.
If she could arrive at any station on time and give her statement, even if his identity was revealed a few minutes later, she would still be eligible for the rewards. Not to mention she wasn’t just revealing his identity, but everything.
The stronghold might be plagued by dungeon gates, but she was willing to risk her life to watch Kaelen suffer.
She was an A-rank awakener. A Tier 4 Flame Mage.
The best and most talented uprising member of the great White Vanguard Guild... if Kaelen had never shown up to take everything away from her.
She didn’t care if there was a lockdown or outbreak.
The draconic beasts might be scary, but across the outskirts of the city, which was her hunting ground... the only thing scary was her!
Smash—!
The sudden sound of a window smashing somewhere in the hotel reached her ears, and she cautiously peeked out her door to scan the eerily empty long hallway.
It was only now she realized that aside from the sound from her TV and the glass shattering, the entire hotel was eerily silent, like she was the only soul in it.
"..."
"Nope. I-I, uhh... will wait a little longer," she said as she quietly shut her door.

Meanwhile...
"I KNOW THAT SCENT. THAT’S THE LINGERING SCENT OF THE MAN THAT KILLED MY QUEEN AND TOOK AWAY MY PRINCE. YOU DARE TO STAND BEFORE ME?!"
Kaelen’s lips curled up.
"Ten years ago, I was nine. If you think a nine-year-old could kill your queen..." Kaelen clicked his tongue pitifully. "Then I don’t think you should be called Elder Dragons. Maybe Kid Dragon should suffice."
"ALL I FEEL IS PITY!" The supreme elder dragon spread its wings, and a violent windstorm swept through the entire floor, knocking pillars over and raining debris. Then it threw its head back, revealing its large, scaled neck that began glowing crimson as flame built up in its throat.
"How very prideful," Kaelen said as he stood his ground, but at the same time, his attribute levels began climbing the scale at an incredible rate, breaking through several evolution realms at once and flooding Kaelen’s vision with delayed system notifications.
