"Quality."
As soon as Kaelen stepped into the field, all the slimes disappeared, including the pond... because they were all him.
Back at the Emperor’s study, Kaelen had used his shadow teleportation before immediately using a World Authority Fragment to swallow everything in the study.
And while he was waiting for them to fall into the shadow pool, he had purchased a new evolution attribute.
[Slime Proliferation: The Slime splits its body into multiple independent Slimes. Each split inherits a portion of the original’s attributes, skills, and accumulated energy. The number and strength of the clones depend on the Slime’s evolution tier.]
He went ahead to dump 150 billion evolution points into upgrading its level to catch up with his other evolution attributes.
Using that, he created every slime in the field, who were all him, and created the pond with a slime, also using the same skill he used to devour the dungeon tower to expand the slime far and wide enough to look like a pond, and using his omniscient power in the World Authority Fragment to perfect it.
[Aegis Jelly: Focuses on pure mass expansion and surface tension.]
All this was created in under a minute before the men fell into the World Authority Fragment. And from the moment they did, they were already dead. They just didn’t know it yet.
He swiped the notifications out of his vision and immediately exited the world, appearing back at the Emperor’s study room, where he didn’t waste any more time before stepping out to find the Emperor.
As soon as he stepped out, he was immediately met with several bodies on the floor and a lone figure standing at the end of the hallway.
"Kaelen Cross. I never expected to meet you like this. I’m your biggest fan," the woman, who looked a few years older than him and wore a strange combat outfit with twin fang daggers for weapons, said as soon as she saw him.
She looked like the culprit of the hallway mess.
"Who are you?" Kaelen asked calmly.
Whether she was an enemy or not, he didn’t plan to waste any more time with anyone who wasn’t the Emperor or Governor.
The woman straightened her back as she placed a hand over her chest. "My name is Natasha. An S-rank bounty hunter for the Red Veil Chapter, and a humble servant to my mistress... your mother." She said and tugged the corner of her collar to reveal the red Scorpion tattoo on her neck.
Kaelen’s heart skipped a beat, and his eyes widened in both surprise and confusion.
That was when he remembered President Hunter mentioning his mother to be a feared assassin across the strongholds before she met his father.
He immediately dropped his guard as he approached the woman. "What do you know about my mother?"
Natasha smiled warmly. "I don’t know as much as you might think, but she was the founder and leader of our organization when it was still the Red Veil Chapter it was known to be. She was kind but ruthless. Cold but had a big heart. Those who knew her well enough revered her. Those who didn’t feared her. She was a meticulous woman... our organization never remained the same after she left." She trailed off like she was reminiscing about the good old days, before she looked up at him with sympathetic eyes. "It’s sad you never got to know her. I’m sorry for your loss, Cross."
"She’s not dead." Kaelen immediately interrupted her.
"What?"
"My mother is not dead."
Natasha looked at him for a moment, but chose not to argue with him.
Besides, everyone had their way of mourning their loved ones.
Before the conversation could carry on, several footsteps suddenly echoed from the other end of the hallway, and several men carrying weapons showed up. There were over two dozen of them, and they paused when they saw Kaelen standing there.
"Kaelen Cross, Natasha. You’re under arrest under the order of the Emperor."
Kaelen looked at the men, and at the ones lying across the hallway. He realized they had the same red uniforms, and finally understood what had happened while he was away.
"Go ahead, Cross. Go find that bastard." Natasha said as she walked past him and stepped forward. "We’ll take care of every other person that tries to interfere with justice." She said and looked over her shoulder to flash a smile at him.
Kaelen could see she had already been cut and wounded in several places, but still chose to fight.
He nodded at her in respect before he disappeared into the door that led deeper into the mansion.
He could’ve stayed back to fight, but he already saw backup coming and decided to leave and face his own battle.
Natasha turned back to the army before her. "Listen up. No one is allowed to go after the young master without my permission. If you insist, then I’ll have to cut y’all down."
The men exchanged glances between themselves, before they burst out in laughter filled with mockery. Then the leader stepped forward as he placed his large cleavers over his shoulder.
"You and what army?" He asked like he was holding back laughter.
As soon as he asked, all the doors lining the hallways before and behind the soldiers suddenly burst open, and several figures stepped out and turned to face the soldiers, surrounding them.
They looked like a group of misfits and all wore smug grins across their faces.
To an inexperienced soldier, these people were a bunch of hoodlums who had come to the wrong place. But an experienced soldier like the leader, whose expression immediately turned ashen on spotting several familiar faces in the group, knew these were the most wanted assassins across the strongholds.
Somehow, these lone assassins had chosen to come together just to protect the criminal trying to kill the Emperor.
Natasha stepped forward at that moment with a faint smile. "Alright, people. This is the least we can do to honor Miss Jessie... let’s make it a memorable one."
"Yeahhhhhh!" The men and women cheered loudly as they charged forward, waving their weapons in the air.
