Chapter 97: Everyone wants to be a Hunter now (Bonus Chapter)

"W-What?" Kenora stumbled on her words.

Kaelen immediately stood up without supporting himself. Like he was one with the wind, he moved towards her in strides, where his feet looked like they barely touched the floor and covered more ground than it looked like he was moving.

He appeared before the Treasury door in an instant and swung the door open, making the shadow summons stumble back, leaving Kenora standing there in petrification.

Kaelen narrowed his eyes at her clothes.

"This is definitely my shirt. Why the hell are you wearing my clothes?"

"I-I’m sorry. I didn’t have anything else to wear here and found these ones."

"What? I literally left you to roam around for five minutes, and the first thing you do is steal my clothes?"

"W-What?" Kenora stumbled on her words in surprise.

Her reaction instantly told Kaelen something, and he frowned slightly. "How long have I been away?"

"That’ll be three months... I guess."

Kaelen stared at her for a moment, before he shifted his gaze to the Supreme Elder Dragon. "SKD, how long have I been away?"

"90 days, milord," the Supreme Elder Dragon replied almost immediately.

"What? Three months?!" His eyes widened in shock and disbelief when a series of notifications suddenly flashed across his vision.

[You have mastered the Eternal Myriad Dao Scripture]

[REGIONAL ANNOUNCEMENT]:

[Kaelen Cross has become the first player to ascend the ladder of immortality!]

[SERVER ANNOUNCEMENT]:

[Kaelen Cross has become the first player to ascend the ladder of immortality!]

"Domineering body...?"

Kaelen’s eyes widened further as he ran his eyes through the notifications.

He’d just been thinking of ways to earn more evolution points when the mysterious Eternal Myriad Scripture landed on his lap, and now Kaelen could passively earn evolution points by meditating?

Though from the 107 trillion accumulated over the span of three months, the method clearly didn’t seem to make him much, but it also mentioned something about the area affecting the amount received.

Kaelen wasn’t discouraged at all, because even if there was no good node on Earth, there were a thousand more planets out there that Kaelen could now cross over to at will like the Drakaris, without a gaming set.

This was a massive upgrade to Kaelen. He immediately snapped his head towards SKD. "Status report."

"Milord, since you were gone for so long, our prisoner’s health began deteriorating rapidly due to starvation. So I let them sneak out into the nearest stronghold to find food, but placed a curse that’ll keep them anchored to this world and kill them if they tried to run away," SKD reported in a beat without emotion.

Kaelen stared at SKD for a moment. The Supreme Elder Dragon Shadow Summon had proven to be more intelligent than Kaelen gave him credit for.

He couldn’t hold it against the dragon because that was better than letting Kenora die off due to his negligence when he still had a myriad of unanswered questions.

Kaelen still found it hard to believe it had been three months already. But looking at the rewards now, it was absolutely worth every day of it.

"I see." Kaelen shifted his gaze back to Kenora.

"You’ve been outside a few times, right? Is there any news worthy of my hearing?" Kaelen’s eyes narrowed.

"Well... a lot happens in three months, and a lot has happened in your world in your absence. I noticed that they keep talking about Kaelen Cross, and I think the king of your world has changed. Also, the spatial gates that gave the Supreme Elder Dragon access to your world have become a natural occurrence here."

"Wait... what do you mean by the king of the world had changed? What happened to the Emperor?" Kaelen immediately asked.

Kenora looked thoughtful for a moment, like she was trying to put her thoughts into words. "The one you call the Emperor... I think he fought with Kaelen Cross and hasn’t been seen ever since. So a new king was chosen and is happening right now as we speak. I think her name was..." She trailed off as she searched her memory like a golden retriever.

Kaelen was surprised to hear the news. He was certain he hadn’t killed the Emperor, but somehow the man had disappeared after his death and never returned?

Did he decide to lay low and grind a bit before stepping out of the shadows once more, or have his masters controlling Evolution Online nubbed him for failing?

After all, bad guys never gave second chances to their loyal dogs.

When Kaelen heard the Emperor had been changed, the first thought that came to his mind was the face of the strange young man at Governor Grey’s estate, until she used the female pronoun, and Kaelen relaxed slightly, but was still wary of who it could be.

"Ah, yes. Her name’s Black Rice," Kenora exclaimed.

"Black... Rice?" Kaelen was confused for a moment. He couldn’t remember anyone by that name, when a thought flashed into his mind and his eyes widened in surprise.

"You mean Black Rose?" Kaelen asked and looked at the hungry Drakaris who was starting to misplace things for food.

But he was still genuinely surprised that Black Rose was becoming the next Emperor.

Just how much had he missed since he unintentionally went into secluded cultivation?

The Emperor was missing.

Instance dungeons had become a common occurrence after the Supreme Elder Dragon invasion.

Black Rose was the new Emperor?!

What was he going to learn next?

"Has Evolution Online also been banned across Strongholds?"

"Ah, that’s right," Kenora blurted.

"W-What?"

"A lot of people from your world have started thrashing these strange items that connect them with Evolution Online."

"Why?" Kaelen’s eyes widened.

"Uhh, I think that’s because... everyone wants to be a Hunter now."
