[Main Mission: Peace Beyond the Stars]
[Objective: Make the Xepharis give up their invasion through peaceful means before their interstellar colony ship arrives.]
[Note: As someone destined to become the brightest and warmest star in the universe, Host should cultivate your own alien fans and avoid senseless violence.]
[Estimatedtimeremaining: 10Y6M21D]
[Reward: 10% affinity increase with the Xeraphi]
[Penaltyoffailure: Humanity will be enslaved, confined inside fluid containers for Primordial Energy extraction, and Host will forever lose the chance to compete for cosmic supremacy.]
"I..."
Lin Haoren’s eyes widened in horror and disbelief after reading the Main Mission details.
With over ten years remaining until the interstellar colony ship arrives, he felt Blue Star truly had a fighting chance in repelling the invasion.
However, the system actually wanted him to resolve the threat peacefully!
If the Xeraphis were peaceful, they wouldn’t be sending an interstellar colony ship to invade Blue Star!
Lin Haoren wanted to curse the system, but couldn’t. He was grateful for it and couldn’t be ungrateful. If not for the system, he wouldn’t even be aware of the aliens.
Nevertheless, he was distressed over this situation.
How could he convince the Xeraphis to give up their invasion, let alone convert them into his fans, when they were light-years away?
This was quite a difficult challenge.
’Blue Star achieves significant technological breakthroughs, humanity could become a force capable of deterring the alien invasion...’ Lin Haoren thought.
With enough deterrence, there could be room for peace talks.
But if the Xeraphis couldn’t be reasoned with? Just destroy the interstellar colony ship?
This would create an irresolvable blood feud with the Xeraphis.
Lin Haoren deeply frowned in thought. He felt like he was missing an important detail.
After reviewing the Main Mission details, a sudden realization made him feel as if he had been struck by lightning, and a deep chill ran down his spine.
He immediately broke into cold sweats.
Lin Haoren quickly realized why the system required him to resolve the alien threat peacefully.
Even if Blue Star possessed the power to destroy the Xeraphi Civilization by the time they arrived, the Main Mission would fail, and humanity could still be enslaved, stuffed into fluid containers for eternity.
To begin with, the Main Mission details never mentioned that the Xeraphi Civilization would be the one to enslave humanity and stuff humans into fluid containers.
This was a very important detail!
Lin Haoren quickly realized that even though Blue Star was located in a remote, underdeveloped region of the Milky Way Galaxy, it didn’t necessarily mean that the super-advanced alien civilizations hadn’t taken notice of it.
In fact, Blue Star must have been discovered long ago. Humanity was one among many primitive civilizations given the chance to develop and evolve independently.
Outside influence would affect their development path. As such, they never interfered with primitive civilizations.
However, if humanity destroys the Xeraphi Civilization, it could be regarded as a violent, warmonger race, unfit to join the cosmic community.
As such, the super-advanced alien civilizations would deprive them of their basic cosmic rights.
Lin Haoren shivered with fear, but also felt relief.
Using power was unacceptable, but not having power was also unacceptable. Resolving the alien threat through peaceful means was the only way.
Although the Main Mission was beyond his current capability, he had time to figure it out.
For now, his biggest obstacles to a peaceful resolution were communication technology and the language barrier.
Without resolving these two obstacles first, he had no means to understand the Xeraphis or build trust.
Ding!
[Congratulations, Host, on triggering your first Main Mission. The Query feature is now unlocked.]
Query feature!
Lin Haoren’s heart was greatly comforted upon receiving this system notification.
He had just been thinking that the Main Mission reward didn’t seem to match its difficulty. Now, he understood that Main Missions were different from Quests.
Main Missions likely handed out some rewards first to help with their completion, while Quest rewards were only handed out afterward because they were incentives and not essentials.
Quests help him grow, and Main Missions help him live—This was how Lin Haoren understood it.
Shortly after adjusting his mindset, Lin Haoren quickly looked into the new Query feature.
This new feature was very important to him.
After all, what he lacked most was information and understanding of cosmic powers and operations.
The Query feature was very straightforward.
He asks, the system answers.
"Where is the Xeraphi Civilization from, exactly?"
[The Xeraphi Civilization is founded on Planet Xeraph, which is hidden within the habitable zone of Alpha Centauri A]
[With Blue Star’s current technology, Planet Xeraph’s existence remains mostly unknown, only speculated but unconfirmed.]
"How advanced is the Xeraphi Civilization’s technology?"
[The Xeraphi Civilization is currently a Type-1.2 Civilization on the Kardeshev scale, roughly 70 years ahead of humanity’s technological development.]
Lin Haoren had guessed that the Xeraphis had mastered fusion technology, but it was still a bit more advanced than he had imagined.
Blue Star was considered to be only a Kardeshev Type 0.7.
However, the Kardeshev only measures energy usage, and not intelligence or military strength.
"How strong is the Xeraphi’s interstellar colony ship? What about their individual strength?"
[Xeraphi’s interstellar colony ship is equipped with kinetic and fusion weapons. It can wipe out Blue Star’s entire satellite network in minutes and level cities in seconds via orbital bombardment.]
[It also carries 10-million elite Xeraphis, each wielding the power of telekinesis. In a pure contest of personal abilities, each elite Xeraphi can take on 100 humans.]
[In conclusion, Xeraphi’s interstellar colony ship wields an overwhelming advantage. The current Blue Star stands no chance of winning.]
Lin Haoren’s lips twitched upon reading this.
Although it was to be expected, it was a bit heavy on the heart to hear it pointed out so clearly.
"Why hasn’t Blue Star discovered Xeraphi’s approaching interstellar colony ship?"
[The interstellar colony ship long switched off its fusion pulse engines, entering coasting mode to avoid waste heat from alerting Blue Star of its approach.]
[Unless the interstellar colony ship restarts its fusion pulse engines for course correction or deceleration, it is unlikely to be detected until it enters the solar system.]
