Evolutionary Superstar
Chapter 73: Arriving at Beiyang Airport, Assistant Du[Did The Author Update Today? has gifted 10,000 Origin Coins.]
[Author, Hand Over The Stockpile Chapters has gifted 50,000 Origin Coins.]
[Perpetual Lurker has gifted 20,000 Origin Coins.]
[As Long As You Don’t Stop Updating, You’re a Good Author has gifted 100,000 Origin Coins.]
...
Originally, Lin Haoren was having fun reading the readers’ humorous threats in response to his Author’s Notes.
However, his expression froze quickly upon seeing the consecutive gifts.
Some were small, and some were big, but altogether, they were definitely not small. 100,000 Origin Coins were worth 1,000 yuan.
With the current string of donations, he could easily receive 10,000 yuan worth of Origin Coins in one day!
These readers were simply too generous!
’What the hell is this? Throwing money right in my face?’ Lin Haoren’s eyes widened in astonishment.
The tycoon readers did not beg for more Chapters; they directly slapped him with money. They were either bribing him or simply paying for advance Chapters!
He did not make such promises, but if he didn’t release the extra Chapters, it would really hurt his conscience!
How could he let down his readers?
Lin Haoren lamented with a wry smile. He originally thought he could take it easy for 2 days, but it seems his stockpile would all be gone today.
Author’s Note:
These are all my stockpile Chapters! Don’t give me any more gifts today!
Lin Haoren added another Author’s Note after releasing the remaining 10,000 words.
[Hahahaha, we did it, brothers! We made the Dog Author surrender his stockpile Chapters!]
[Damn Author, if there’s no more stockpile, can’t you write more?]
[No more gifts today? What about tomorrow?]
Lin Haoren read the new comments and felt a chill. He couldn’t help but feel that his readers were actually quite frightening.
It was the first time he realized that he could be threatened to receive money. Yet, he did not hate this feeling. It was even motivating.
After all, who could say no to money?
However, he also had his concerns. It was fine for tycoons to throw away so many Origin Coins, but what about the regular readers joining the hype?
Would they have enough money for themselves?
Lin Haoren hoped his readers weren’t hurting themselves to support him. After all, his financial situation was pretty good now. He didn’t lack this bit of money.
Their spiritual support was more important than their monetary support. Heartfelt appreciation toward his work was the best source of motivation for writing.
It wasn’t far-fetched to say that readers’ voices had the power to raise and destroy an author.
Lin Haoren decided that after settling down in Beiyang City, he would spend tonight writing to live up to his readers’ expectations.
...
Unknowingly, the 2-hour flight was over before Lin Haoren realized it.
Time passes differently when there is internet access.
"That was probably the most enjoyable flight I’ve ever had," Lin Haoren sighed with regret, wishing the flight had been a bit longer.
Who knew flights could be so comfortable?
So this was the allure of first class?
After leaving Beiyang Airport, Lin Haoren found a decent-looking young lady in a professional black and white suit holding a sign with his legal name on it.
"Hello, I’m Lin Haoren. Are you the person responsible for my transportation?" Lin Haoren inquired as he took off his black face mask and sunglasses.
The young lady’s eyes lit up at once.
Although Lin Haoren looked better than she had imagined, her excitement ultimately stemmed from meeting Oreo in his pet backpack.
"Hello, Teacher Lin! I am a fan of Oreo! Please call me Xiao Dudu. I am your assigned driver for today," Assistant Du shook Lin Haoren’s hand enthusiastically with both hands.
Her eyes repeatedly darted to his pet backpack, hoping to catch a glimpse of Oreo.
Lin Haoren knew that Oreo was about to suffer again.
Oreo was fond of strangers, let alone being touched by them. Still, he was very well-behaved and would never hurt anyone over it.
"Would you like to drop your stuff off at the hotel first, or shall I take you to see Director Chen, Teacher Lin?"
Assistant Du offered to take over his suitcase, but Lin Haoren declined.
"There’s no need to be so formal, Xiao Dudu. You can just call me Brother Lin or Lin Haoren directly," Lin Haoren said.
He was an aspiring actor without a single representative work. He didn’t believe he deserved to be called a Teacher just yet.
"Mm, got it, Brother Lin," Assistant Du nodded seriously.
"Let’s meet Director Chen first, so he doesn’t become anxious, Xiao Dudu. You can play with Oreo later," Lin Haoren said.
"Thank you, Brother Lin!" Assistant Du beamed with crescent eyes.
She skipped around to the back and waved to Oreo.
"Hi, Oreo. I’m Xiao Dudu. Let’s be friends, okay?" Assistant Du introduced herself.
Oreo’s expression darkened at once.
Damn, another human eyeing my majestic self. Curse my damn charm—Oreo thought to himself.
Assistant Du noticed Oreo’s disinterest, but she wasn’t discouraged.
’It’s okay. We have plenty of time to get along,’ she told herself.
There were plenty of people in the A Home for Paws Production Team who would likely want to meet and play with Oreo.
As such, Lin Haoren didn’t mind letting Assistant Du play with him later.
After all, Oreo had to start getting used to it.
A cat’s life was too short. If he didn’t push Oreo to become a superstar cat and train Taijiquan, he might not get the chance to evolve.
Of course, the Reputation Store might have some good stuff later, but Lin Haoren figured their effects wouldn’t be as good as the benefits of the Superstar Path.
Shortly after, Assistant Du led Lin Haoren to their car. The ride turned out to be a blue MPV. After packing his suitcase inside, he himself got in and took a seat.
Oreo was also released from the pet backpack to roam the vehicle’s interior to his heart’s content.
’Freedom at last~!’ Oreo was overjoyed.
He stretched and rolled over on the floor with sheer bliss, like he was a prisoner who had just been released after serving his sentence.
"Director Chen is waiting for us at Jinlan Coffee. It’s only a short walk from the five-star hotel room we booked for you, Brother Lin. I’ll let Director Chen know that we are heading over to him now. We should get there around 2:00 PM," Assistant Du informed.
"Alright, thank you for your hard work, Xiao Dudu," Lin Haoren said politely.
"It’s my pleasure," Assistant Du grinned.
