Extra's Path: The Eternal Frost Monarch
Chapter 265: She’s... Taking My SideThe kimono sat a little loose around her shoulders. From where Noah rested, the soft, huge curve of her breasts made it hard to see her face clearly. He didn’t mind. Not at all.
He turned his head slightly and rubbed his cheek against her thigh. The firm warmth of her legs felt grounding and comforting at the same time.
"I wanted this for a while," he admitted quietly. "I just never had the courage. But we’ve grown closer... so I thought, why not?"
Akari gave a small, amused breath. "You’re acting like a kid. Does something so simple from an old woman like me really make you that happy?"
Noah immediately opened one eye and looked up at her.
"What are you talking about? Being treated this kindly by someone as breathtakingly beautiful as you is something most men could only dream about."
She chuckled under her breath, the sound low and warm. "There you go again with the compliments. Always trying to flatter me."
"I’m only saying what’s true."
Her hand continued its slow path through his hair. "In that case... you can ask me for this anytime after training."
Noah’s chest tightened with quiet joy.
He couldn’t help thinking how strange fate truly was. When he had first arrived in this mysterious world, he believed he had been trapped in the worst possible situation.
Now each passing day made him wonder if it had been a blessing in disguise. He slowly closed his eyes again.
’She’s unbelievably kind. I really like her and being around her. If this continues... A few more months together. I might genuinely fall for her.’
Noah’s brain had already begun to imagine a future in which they both remained here for years.
They would slowly fall for each other. Then one day, in the heat of the moment, they would cross the line.
They wouldn’t stop there, they would keep going. And the result of their actions would be born into this world.
Someone who would call him Dad and her Mom.
A soft, almost silly laugh slipped out of him. "Hehe~"
Akari tilted her head, curious. She leaned forward a little. The softness of her breasts pressed fully against his cheek and the side of his face. The sensation he felt was warm and soft.
The thin kimono did little to hide the heat of her skin or the gentle give of her flesh. The light scent of her body wrapped around him was sweet.
"What is it?" she asked, voice soft near his ear. "Why are you laughing like that?"
Noah’s cheeks felt warm. "I just... feel like the luckiest man alive right now."
He forced himself to stay still. He controled himself from thinking by his lower body.
Akari’s gentle giggle made her chest shift lightly against him. "You’re strange, Noah."
He drew in a slow breath, trying to steady the flutter in his chest. He didn’t want to seem childish. Not when something more serious waited on his tongue.
"Akari..." His voice dropped, it was more careful. "There’s something I’ve been keeping from you. Something important."
She sensed the change in him at once. Her hand stilled in his hair for a moment, then resumed its soft strokes.
"What is it, Noah?"
He looked up at her, heart steadying, ready at last to speak the truth about Ophelia... and about himself.
"Actually... it’s about Ophelia." Noah’s voice grew quieter. "I didn’t tell you everything about her. I hid a few things."
The gentle atmosphere between them vanished. Akari’s expression slowly turned serious.
"What is it, Noah?"
Even her voice had become calm and solemn.
Noah took a deep breath before gathering his courage.
"Actually...Ophelia and I were engaged. She was my fiancée."
The moment those words left his mouth, Akari’s eyes widened. She remained silent for several moments before finally speaking.
"Noah...I would have been happy to hear that."
She looked down at him. "A man like you becoming my daughter’s fiancé... I would have gladly accepted it."
Her brows slowly knitted together.
"But...what do you mean by were? Are you saying the engagement no longer exists?"
Noah slowly nodded.
"Yes. It was broken." He lowered his gaze. "She... never loved me."
"I loved her..." He felt bitterness in his mouth while saying that. Not because of sad memories, but saying he loved her was really repulsive to him since he really dislike her.
’Though it was not me but past Noah who loved her.’
"but she never felt the same. And then..."
After taking another deep breath...
Noah began telling her everything. The ridicule he endured afterward.
He hid nothing this time.He spoke honestly from beginning to end.
When he finally finished. Silence filled the veranda. Only the gentle evening breeze could be heard.
His head still rested on Akari’s lap.
"...Akari?"
He called her softly.
She didn’t answer immediately. Several long moments passed. Finally. "Noah..."
Her voice was frighteningly calm. A chill ran down Noah’s spine.
"W-What is it?"
Akari’s hands slowly clenched the fabric of her kimono.
"Did my daughter...truly do all of that?"
Her voice carried a restrained anger Noah had never heard before.
He nodded slowly.
"Yes...I know I wasn’t completely innocent either. I was drunk... But I never intended to hurt her. I never wanted anything like that to happen."
"Enough."
Akari interrupted him.
"I’ve spent these past few weeks with you. I know the kind of person you are."
Her usually gentle eyes were now filled with unmistakable anger.
"I cannot believe that my own daughter falsely accused you of assault just because she didn’t like you."
She closed her eyes briefly, taking a slow breath to calm herself.
When she opened them again the anger remained. Only now it was hidden beneath perfect composure.
Slowly she lowered her hand and gently cupped Noah’s cheek.
Her fingers softly stroked his face.
"Oh, Noah..."
Her voice had become incredibly gentle.
"It must have been so painful. To be accused by by the person you loved...To lose your engagement...to be exiled from your own family...And to endure everyone’s scorn because of a lie."
Her thumb lightly brushed across his cheek.
"I can only imagine how lonely you must have felt."
Noah stared at her in complete disbelief.
’She’s... taking my side?Wait... really?Damn! It was not me... though now I have all memories of Noah. I do feel like that everything happened to me.’
He had expected anger. He had expected her to defend her daughter.
Instead the first thing she worried about was him.
