"You really have gone through a lot in just a few months."
Akari spoke after remaining silent for a moment.
"Yes..."
Noah gave a helpless sigh.
Akari lowered her gaze, carefully organizing everything he had told her.
"Hmm... So, according to your theory, the reason you were brought here has something to do with Damien?"
"Yes."
Noah nodded.
"You believe that stone slab activated the portal because Damien’s blood spilled onto it?"
"Exactly."
His expression turned serious.
"As I mentioned before, Damien is blessed by the Sun God. And I’m not talking about the way people casually use the word blessed."
Akari quietly listened.
"Sometimes, when someone is born with an extraordinary innate ability or possesses an unusually powerful talent, people say that person has been ’blessed by the gods.’ But that’s mostly just an expression."
Noah shook his head.
"Damien is different."
His blue eyes narrowed.
"He is genuinely blessed by the Sun God. If you want to put it another way... I suppose you could call him a child favored by the heavens."
Akari remained silent for several seconds.
"What you’re saying does make sense."
She slowly nodded.
"After hearing about everything that happened involving you and Damien, even I can tell that there’s something extraordinary surrounding him."
Her expression gradually became more serious.
"Which means..."
She paused.
"Noah, you’re suggesting that Damien was the person who was originally supposed to be brought here."
Noah nodded.
"Yes."
"But because you were standing beside the stone slab when the portal activated..."
"I got dragged inside instead."
Silence settled between them.
Akari released a long sigh. "This has become far more complicated than I expected." She looked toward the open veranda. "If someone truly blessed by the Sun God has appeared in future era..."
Her sapphire-blue eyes narrowed. "...then the Monarchs may soon return as well."
Noah immediately frowned. "Monarchs?"
Akari looked back at him.
"What do you mean by Monarchs?"
She remained silent for a moment. Her expression suggested that she was considering whether she should tell him at all.
Eventually, she sighed. "This isn’t information someone at your current level would normally be allowed to learn."
Noah straightened slightly.
"But considering everything you’ve already become involved in..."
Akari shook her head.
"Keeping you ignorant might be more dangerous."
She looked directly into his eyes.
"In this world, ancient records speak of two kinds of existences that once stood above nearly everything else."
She raised two fingers.
"The first were the Eternal Gods."
Her second finger remained raised.
"And the others were the Eternal Monarchs."
Noah’s expression changed slightly.
"Eternal Monarchs..."
"Yes."
Akari nodded.
"Calling them simply Gods and Monarchs doesn’t properly describe what they were. According to ancient records, both stood at heights that ordinary beings couldn’t even comprehend."
"How powerful?"
Akari’s expression became solemn.
"Powerful enough to destroy entire worlds."
Noah’s eyes widened.
"...What?"
"At least, that’s what the surviving ancient texts claim."
Akari quickly added the clarification.
"There are records describing beings capable of destroying worlds, reshaping them, and, at their absolute peak, possessing enough power to bring ruin to an entire world easily."
Noah remained silent.
He had already seen enough impossible things since arriving in this world that he couldn’t simply dismiss such claims as myths.
"So the Eternal Gods are stronger than the Monarchs?"
"No."
Akari shook her head.
"That’s what makes them frightening."
She paused.
"The Eternal Monarchs were supposedly capable of standing against the Eternal Gods as equals."
Noah’s expression grew more serious.
"Then what’s the difference between them?"
"The nature of their powers."
Akari raised her hand slightly.
"The Gods wield divine power. Their strength is closely associated with divinity, faith, prayers, worship, and the beliefs of their followers."
"And the Monarchs?"
"That’s where the records become unclear."
Akari frowned.
"I’ve never found a reliable explanation of exactly what kind of energy the Monarchs wielded."
She thought for a moment before continuing.
"However, their powers were frequently associated with things that ancient civilizations considered dangerous or unnatural."
"Such as?"
"Blood."
Akari raised one finger.
"Flesh."
Another.
"Death, Souls, Darkness, Decay, Destruction... and several other concepts."
Noah listened carefully.
"Because of that, Monarchs were generally portrayed as evil beings?"
"Yes. At least in eyes of mortals."
Akari nodded.
"And in the records I’ve read." She then immediately added, "But I wouldn’t blindly trust those descriptions."
Noah raised an eyebrow.
"Why?"
"Because history is written by people."
Akari’s gaze became thoughtful.
"And people are biased."
She rested her hands over her lap.
"Most surviving records concerning the Eternal Gods were preserved by temples, churches, kingdoms that worshipped them, or scholars living under civilizations devoted to them."
Noah immediately understood her point.
"So if the Gods and Monarchs were enemies...Then naturally, records written by followers of the Gods would portray the Monarchs as monsters."
Akari nodded.
"That doesn’t mean the Monarchs were innocent. They may genuinely have been horrifying beings. But we don’t know enough to say that every Eternal God was good and every Eternal Monarch was evil."
"History could have been distorted."
"Exactly. And don’t you find it weird? That there is only one god worshiped by most kingdoms. The Sun God. There is barely any information about other gods. Even the statue you saw underground, calling it moon goddess."
She paused and continued. "I never have heard about such goddess before."
Noah fell into thought.
That explanation made far more sense to him than simply dividing beings of unimaginable power into good gods and evil monarchs.
Akari continued.
"Still, one thing appears repeatedly throughout ancient records."
"What?"
"When beings heavily favored by the Eternal Gods begin appearing in the world..."
Her eyes narrowed.
"...the influence of the Eternal Monarchs eventually follows."
Noah’s expression stiffened.
Immediately, several memories resurfaced.
Noah looked at Akari.
"Then Marbas..."
"That’s exactly what I was thinking."
Akari’s expression darkened.
"You said Marbas, that demon attempted to sacrifice numerous students to an unknown entity."
"Yes."
"We don’t know what that entity was." Akari shook her head. "But considering what you’ve told me, there’s a possibility that it was connected to an Eternal Monarch."
Noah frowned.
"Connected how?"
"A follower. A servant. Someone attempting to get their favor. Someone borrowing its power."
She paused.
"Or perhaps something even worse."
Noah understood immediately.
"The Monarch itself."
"Possibly."
Akari didn’t sound certain.
"We simply don’t have enough information."
She then continued.
"And there’s another incident that concerns me even more."
"The dungeon?"
"Yes."
Akari’s gaze sharpened.
"You said someone spoke through the body of the creature you and Damien defeated."
Noah nodded.
"And whoever it was immediately recognized Damien as someone blessed by the Sun God."
"Exactly."
"That’s not ordinary knowledge, Noah."
Akari’s voice became noticeably colder.
"Even powerful people might fail to recognize a true divine blessing without investigating Damien carefully. Yet this unknown being recognized it almost immediately."
Noah slowly clenched his hand.
"So whoever spoke through that corpse... May possess knowledge dating back to the Eternal Gods and Monarchs."
Akari nodded.
"It could be a follower of a Monarch."
Her eyes narrowed.
"Or..."
Noah finished the thought himself.
"...an Eternal Monarch."
Neither spoke for several moments. Noah’s expression had become extremely serious. Then another thought suddenly crossed his mind.
Something Akari had said earlier.
Noah knew that this games would have eternal monarchs and gods. But what they were exactly, he didn’t know. Even Akari knew all of this because she was daughter of one of the power house of kingdom. Also wife of a duke.
Then Noah’s eyes slowly widened. His own status appeared within his thoughts.
Bloodline: [Monarch of the Frost]
"..."
Noah suddenly became very quiet.
’That means... I really have chance to become strong... like eternal monarchs. Who are as strong as Gods.’
