"Come on..."

Noah pulled himself upward. His boots desperately searched for gaps between the enormous scales.

ROOOOOAAAAARRRRR!!!

Akari’s roar ripped through the heavens. The sheer vibration traveled through her entire body.

"Argh!"

Noah’s teeth rattled. Then she accelerated.

BOOM!

The dragon tore through the air with such force that the clouds around her were blown apart.

"FUCK!!"

Noah flattened himself against her body. His arms screamed from the strain.

Wind battered him relentlessly while rain struck his skin like tiny projectiles He couldn’t even properly open his eyes.

Still, he continued.

One scale, then another and then another.

Akari’s hind leg alone was enormous. Noah felt less like he was climbing a living creature and more like he was scaling the side of some moving fortress.

His progress was painfully slow. But eventually, he reached the upper portion of her leg.

"Almost..."

Noah reached upward.

ROOOOOAAAARRR!!

Suddenly, Akari’s entire body jerked violently. Her wings lost their rhythm.

"What the—?!"

The dragon abruptly twisted sideways. The entire world rotated around Noah.

"FUCK! I’M GOING TO FALL!!"

His feet lost their grip. For one horrifying second, his entire body was hanging from a single arm.

Noah immediately released a burst of mana.

CRACK!

Ice spread around his hand, locking his fingers firmly against one of Akari’s scales.

"ARGHH!"

His shoulder screamed under the weight of his entire body. He desperately swung his free hand upward.

Grabbed another scale. Froze it.

Then pulled himself back against her body.

"Hah... hah..."

His breathing was wild.

"What the hell was that?!"

Then Noah noticed something strange.

Akari wasn’t simply flying erratically. Her movements had changed. Her enormous head jerked to one side.

Her claws curled inward. One wing suddenly folded slightly before immediately spreading again.

She shook her head violently.

ROOOAARR—!!

But this roar sounded different. There was something almost painful about it.

Noah’s eyes widened.

’Wait.’

He stared toward her distant head.

She’s fighting.

Akari wasn’t completely gone.

Somewhere beneath those awakened draconic instincts, the woman he knew was still struggling to regain control of her own body.

A small spark of hope appeared in Noah’s eyes.

She’s still in there. Then this isn’t hopeless.

Noah gritted his teeth and resumed climbing.

"Akari!"

His voice was immediately swallowed by the storm.

’Of course.’

From this far away, there was no chance she could hear him.

He needed to get closer.

Much closer.

’Time to show power of love!!’

---

It took Noah several exhausting minutes to reach Akari’s back.

The moment he pulled himself over the final row of scales, he collapsed flat against her enormous body.

"Hah... hah..."

He desperately sucked air into his lungs.

His arms were trembling.

Several cuts covered his palms and forearms where the sharp edges of Akari’s scales had scraped him whenever his ice grip failed.

But there was no time to rest.

Noah raised his head.

Akari’s back stretched before him like a massive sapphire road, leading all the way toward the base of her neck.

Beyond that was her enormous head.

Noah swallowed.

’I need to reach her ear.’

It sounded absurd even inside his own head.

He was going to crawl across the back of an awakened dragon, reach her head, and try to talk some sense into her.

This might genuinely be the stupidest thing I’ve ever done.

CRACK!!!

Lightning tore through the clouds only a short distance away.

Noah flinched.

"...Still better than letting her destroy the entire forest."

He pushed himself forward. Walking normally was impossible. Akari’s body constantly tilted and shifted beneath him with every beat of her wings.

So Noah remained low. Almost crawling. One hand moved forward.

Crack!

Ice locked it against a scale. Then the other.

Crack!

His knees and boots followed.

He essentially created temporary anchors across Akari’s body, breaking each one only after securing the next.

It was slow and exhausting. But far safer than relying on his grip alone.

FLAP—!!!

Akari’s wings beat downward.

Noah’s body was almost ripped away.

"Argh!"

He flattened himself against her back.

"Would you stop moving for five damn seconds?!"

As if answering him.

ROOOOOAAAARRR!!!

"No?! Fine!"

Noah continued crawling.

Akari suddenly plunged downward.

Noah’s stomach rose into his throat. "Hehe! This is crazy....but also there’s slight fun."

Then she shot upward again. Clouds swallowed them. Everything became gray.

Rain and mist blinded Noah completely.

Lightning flashed around them.

CRACK!

For several few seconds, Noah couldn’t see anything beyond the scales directly beneath his face.

Yet he continued moving.

’I need her conscious.’

That mysterious platform was still bothering him. For sixty years, it had remained dormant. Then Akari fully awakened her bloodline.

And suddenly the crystals had begun glowing. The runes had activated. Something was happening.

And Noah didn’t want to discover what it was while Akari remained a rampaging dragon incapable of thinking clearly.

Their house was probably already destroyed. The forest was being devastated. If this continued, there might not be much of this place left.

"Akari..."

Noah pulled himself farther.

"You better wake up after everything I’m doing!"

Another violent movement nearly threw him away.

CRACK!

Ice immediately spread from both palms.

Noah held on.

His mana reserves were steadily decreasing, but fortunately these small amounts of ice required far less mana than creating large structures or using combat spells.

So he continued.

Grab, then freeze and then pull.

After that Break.

Again, again and again he did the same thing. Minutes felt like hours. His fingers became numb. His shoulders burned.

His breathing grew heavier. But gradually, the massive base of Akari’s neck came closer.

Finally Noah reached forward and grabbed one of the thick scales there.

Crack!

He froze both hands firmly against it. Then dragged himself forward.

"ARGHH!"

With one final pull, Noah climbed onto the base of Akari’s neck.

He immediately pressed his entire body against her scales.

"Hah... hah... hah..."

For a while, he couldn’t move.

He had made it. "Hahaha!! I made it!!"

From here, Akari’s enormous head was finally within reachable distance.

Noah slowly raised his face.

Her horns stretched backward above him while lightning danced across the clouds surrounding her enormous silhouette.

Her head violently shifted from side to side as she continued fighting whatever instincts had overwhelmed her mind.

Noah clenched his aching fingers.

"Alright..."

He stared toward the side of her head.

"Now I just need to reach your ear."

His lips twitched bitterly.

"...Without getting myself killed."

But a smile unknowingly formed on his face.

Slowly Noah was developing liking to something that he shouldn’t.

[A/N: Finally I felt like Noah is suffering little bit... but this is not enough. I am not satisfied. I need to beat his ass more Hahaha!!!]
