There was no ground, sky or air.

Noah’s body fell endlessly through a chaotic expanse of darkness with glowing waves of different colors in distance.

Silver-blue cracks stretched across the void like shattered glass, constantly appearing and disappearing around him.

Fragments of the destroyed realm drifted through the darkness as if the realm never existed.

Noah was unconscious. His body continued to tumble helplessly through the unstable dimensional space.

"NOAH!"

Akari’s voice rang through the darkness. She reached out and grabbed him before the dimensional current could separate them.

She was tired, but still moved to save Noah. She couldn’t let him go away from her. Her fingers tightly wrapped around his arm.

"No... no, no..."

She pulled his unconscious body against her.

The moment she did it.

BOOOOM!

A violent dimensional force struck them.

Akari’s body was sent spinning.

Pain immediately spread through her entire body. It felt as though countless invisible hands were trying to tear her apart.

Her clothes fluttered violently as her body was dragged toward a distant crack in space.

"Urgh!"

She gritted her teeth and held Noah even tighter. She couldn’t let go. She absolutely couldn’t.

If they were separated here. She didn’t know whether they would ever meet again. Then something awakened behind her.

FWOOSH!

Two enormous dragon wings erupted from her back. Their powerful wings immediately spread around them, forming a protective shell.

Akari curled her body around Noah and used her wings to cover both of them completely.

"Stay with me..."

Her voice trembled.

"Noah... please."

She poured the remaining mana inside her body into her wings. A faint barrier formed around them.

The dimensional pressure weakened.

Akari’s eyes widened.

"It worked..."

But her relief lasted only a second.

CRACK!

The barrier trembled violently.

Akari’s expression changed. The force surrounding them was simply too powerful. This wasn’t ordinary wind. It wasn’t even ordinary magical pressure.

The space itself was unstable. Every dimensional current they passed through was trying to pull their bodies in different directions.

One force pulled her arm toward the darkness with different color waves. Another dragged her legs in the opposite direction.

Something twisted around her wings. Akari screamed as pain shot through her body.

"AAAAH!"

She desperately reinforced the barrier. More mana poured out of her body.

But there wasn’t much left. Her mana had already been nearly exhausted before they entered this place.

Still, she continued, she had no other choice.

"If I stop..."

Her trembling eyes moved toward Noah. His face was pale. His eyes remained closed.

"...we’ll be torn apart."

She wrapped her wings even tighter around him. The dimensional currents grew stronger.

BOOM!

The barrier cracked.

Akari’s body slammed against Noah’s.

She grunted in pain but refused to release him, another dimensional wave struck.

CRACK!

A portion of her barrier shattered.

Akari’s pupils contracted.

"No..."

She immediately poured the last of her mana into the remaining barrier. Her breathing became ragged. Her body felt incredibly heavy.

Her wings trembled violently. The pressure was becoming unbearable.

She could feel it now. The dimensional space was beginning to affect her body directly.

Her skin stung. Her bones ached. Even her senses were becoming distorted. She could no longer tell which direction they were falling.

There was only darkness and some dimmed glowing waves of different colors.

And Noah in her arms.

Akari lowered her head and pressed her forehead against his.

"Don’t you dare die..."

Her voice was barely a whisper.

"Please..."

Another violent force struck them.

BOOOOOOM!

Akari’s wings shook violently. A thin crack appeared across one of them. She clenched her teeth.

Tears formed in the corners of her eyes from the pain.

But she still didn’t let go. Instead, she pulled Noah closer.

Her dragon wings completely covered his body.

"If someone has to be torn apart..."

She closed her eyes. Her consciousness slowly fading away.

"...it won’t be you."

---

As Noah and Akari continued to fall through the dimensional void, the darkness around them suddenly trembled.

BOOM!

A massive portal abruptly opened beneath them. Something enormous emerged from within it. At first, it looked like a blazing sun breaking through the darkness.

Then its shape became clear. It was a colossal bird.

Its entire body radiated a brilliant white-orange light that illuminated the surrounding void.

Its feathers were pure white at their base, each one glowing with an ethereal radiance, while brilliant orange-gold flames danced along their edges.

Its long, elegant tail streamed behind it like several burning ribbons of fire. The flames shifted between molten gold, vivid orange, red and white-hot brilliance, leaving trails of sparks that disappeared into the darkness.

The crown of feathers atop its head burned like a living flame, rising elegantly above its head without consuming the white feathers beneath it.

Its enormous wings stretched outward.

They were vast enough to dwarf Noah and Akari several times over, covered in layers of luminous white feathers.

Along the tips of those wings burned brilliant orange-gold flames, flowing backward like blazing banners as the phoenix moved.

Its eyes opened. They glowed with the color of living fire.

The unknown bird let out a piercing cry.

"KRAAAAAAAAA!"

The shrill cry echoed strangely through the dimensional void. Its fiery eyes suddenly focused on the two tiny figures falling through the unstable darkness.

Noah and Akari.

The mythical creature tilted its head.

FWOOSH!

Its enormous wings spread wide. It shot through the dimensional void.

Despite its immense size, the phoenix moved with incredible speed, cutting through the chaotic currents of unstable space as though they were nothing more than gentle winds.

It reached Noah and Akari in an instant.

Akari barely had time to look up. Her eyes widened. A colossal white wing swept around them.

Then the other followed.

It folded its enormous wings around both of them, completely enveloping their bodies within a cocoon of radiant feathers and warm golden flames.

The violent dimensional currents immediately crashed against its wings. But the bird remained unmoved.

Its brilliant feathers burned brighter. The surrounding darkness was pushed back by its radiance.

For a moment, Noah and Akari were completely protected within the wings.

Then the it turned. Its massive body began descending toward the portal from which it had emerged.

With Noah and Akari safely enclosed within its wings, it plunged downward through the unstable void.

The portal grew closer.

FWOOSH!

The giant bird disappeared into the portal, carrying both of them with it. The portal flickered once.

Then vanished. The dimensional void returned to silence.
