The figure who landed beside Axel was naturally Heinz Gil, the only man whom Axel Nomrad would call a brother, and not just a friend.

Heinz scowled at Axel’s comment, "Do you think I’m the Valkyrie or something? Unlike that monster, I need some time to advance to the third phase and stabilize my Soul Sanctum’s increased power. I’m not so abnormal as the rest of you."

Axel did not respond, and Heinz added, "So, what’s the plan..."

This time the Runecaster stated coldly, "The plan is to kill him...."

Heinz frowned, "He’s a Lich, and I doubt we can even defeat him properly, let alone...."

For the first time, Axel turned towards his friend; his face twisted with sheer rage. "Heinz, I cannot let the High-Lich leave here alive, for what he did to Sophia."

Axel’s voice almost came out as a growl, as if the insanity nestling within him was trying to crawl out.

Heinz’s expression turned solemn as he saw Axel’s mental state wasn’t particularly right, and he thought in his mind about the warning Vyra had given him.

This guy indeed was a complete and utter lunatic for the Valkyrie.

Heinz rubbed his eyelids in frustration, "Well then, I assume you can draw his soul out somehow?"

The corner of Axel’s mouth rose slightly; it felt like a demon’s smile. Heinz was even perplexed.

The Sage Warlord sighed, "Alright, let’s do this then; I also want a taste of this bastard who caused so many of us to die within the academy."

After that, the Calamity Warlord let out a deafening shout, drawing the attention of the entire battlefield, "All third-phase seekers of the Unified Army, acknowledge me as your War Commander."

The moment he uttered those words, all humans fell silent; there was hesitation in their minds.

Sophia, who was already engaged in a vicious battle against Osiris, heard these words and paused her attacks for a second.

She first looked toward the source of the voice; she saw that Heinz was standing right beside Axel, and she instantly understood what was going on.

Sophia then gazed down at the thousands of third-phase soldiers from the Unified Army’s side on the ground.

The Divine Valkyrie declared in an overbearing tone, "I hereby appoint Heinz Gil as the lead Commander for all third-phase seekers, and all third-phase soldiers are to heed his every command."

The instant the Valkyrie proclaimed those words, the third-phase existences did not hesitate even in the slightest or waste a single second.

Every single third-phase seeker from the human side roared at the same instant, "We hereby acknowledge Heinz Gil as the Lead Commander."

What followed after that deafening roar of thousands of third-phase seekers was the trembling of the entire battlefield.

As the Calamity Warlord felt the boundless power creeping up on him from all directions, his entire being trembled in excitement.

A familiar string of notifications flashed in his retina...

[Your Aspectual Title, Calamity Warlord, is in effect]

[Your Aspectual Title is being overstimulated]

[You have temporarily gained a 200% increase in all stats, ability efficiency, and attack resistance]

[You have temporarily gained immunity to all status abnormality effects]

[All soldiers under your direct command have temporarily gained a 70% increase in all stats, ability efficiency, and attack resistance]

The Calamity Warlord let out a roar... being empowered to such a great extent by his Warlord aspect and aspectual title as a whole.

But at the same time, Axel himself did not remain idle; with a mental command, two sapphire-like earring-shaped artifacts etched with almost unnoticeable golden runes appeared on his two ears.

Followed by red and blue finger rings appearing on both of his hands; last was a long, white rune sword.

All five artifacts that appeared on him had three identical runes etched on each.

Unexpectedly, no rush of power exploded from him; the five rune artifacts did not do anything. They had no empowerment or boost effects on him.

Rather, these five Rune tools worked as if they were empty slots. They were Variable Artifacts for his True Rune Meditation Technique.

These slots needed to be assigned with values, and only then would they work.

Axel let his Rune-attributed mana flow onto the five artifacts that he built for this very battle ahead.

The very next moment, a notification flashed in his retina, almost glowing golden.

[Activating the First Mantra of True Rune Meditation Technique....]

[Please choose five of the 24 basic runes to deploy on your Five Variable Rune Artifacts.]

Axel smiled darkly as he worded the five Runes confidently.

"Mens (Mind)"To strengthen his mind.

"Verba (Speech)"To strengthen the effect of his word on reality

"Electra (Lightning)"To wield the element of Blue Thunder.

"Bestia (Beast)"To reinforce his body and boost his strength.

"Ferro (Metal)"To reinforce his resonance with all weapons and attract more Blue Lightning from the skies.

The might of these five runes took effect on his Variable artifacts.

A rush of explosive power filled his entire being, reinforcing the five components of his existence.

Grahhhscrhhhhhhhh!!!

At the same time, the inhumane cry of the Deathly Hollow echoed across the battlefield once more, like a haunting wail; the High-Lich shot out of the deepened crater, plunging into the skies like a dark comet ascending to the heavens, leaving a trail of death energy in its wake.

The Lich’s face was twisted into a grimace; boundless rage overflowed in its being; at the same time, caution flared in the pulsing sockets of Zabiur. The High-Lich dared not come too close to these two dangerous individuals anymore.

Even though the prospect of it hurt its pride, it still had to take them seriously, at least in its current state when the Rune Barrier had applied restrictions to its strongest powers.

Meanwhile, the Calamity Warlord was oozing with violent War Aura from head to toe, which resembled evaporating Red smoke.

Axel’s body was crackling with destructive blue thunder; his power had also skyrocketed in his own way due to his Variable Artifacts; the best part was that, even in mid-battle, Axel could change slots of any of the five runes and replace them with another of the 24 basic runes.

The sheer versatility, applications, and deadliness the First Rune Mantra would grant him in battle, it truly would be a nightmare for any of his enemies.

Axel looked to his left at Heinz, and the latter also looked at him. Axel held his sword in his left hand for a moment, and as he casually slashed out towards his friend, his friend also swung his spear towards Axel.

CLANK!!!

And the moment the spear and sword met, an invisible frequency of vibration spread throughout the battlefield.

All rune weapons hummed even more strongly, and another set of notifications flashed simultaneously in Axel’s and Heinz’s eyes.

[The title of Brother of Swords is being activated....]

[ERROR!!! ERROR!!! ERROR!!]

[Sword resonance has not been achieved.]

[Recalibrating the title effects, modifying specifications....]

[Processing... processing...]

[Necessary changes have been made.]

[Weapon Resonance between Axel Nomrad and Heinz Gil has been achieved.]

[All boost effects of the two parties are now being spread to the other.]

[Both parties can use each other’s abilities, techniques, and traits freely for 10 minutes.]

Booooom!!!!

BOOOOOOOM!!!!

Two explosive bursts of power radiated from Axel and Heinz at the same time. Heinz’s 200% stat boost affected Axel, while Axel’s Five Variable Runes boost spread to Heinz.

The Warlord also gained a fragmented sight of access to Axel’s Runic Eyes, as well as his Energy Sense skill.

Axel received the savage War Aura of Heinz, which amplified the power of his killing intent even further.

The sheer power exuding from the Calamity Warlord and Absolute Runecaster was so great that even the mighty Deathly Hollow’s expression turned grave.

The High-Lich did not wait for his enemies to attack; rather, he took the initiative and performed the very skill that almost caused the Valkyrie to die.

Zabiur chanted, "Rain of Endless Undead..."

The moment he said that, more than a hundred thousand peak 1st-phase undead soldiers enveloped the skies; the battlefield was already enshrouded in shadows from the dark clouds, and now countless falling skeletons covered the heavens with a layer of rotten bones and Death Energy.

Almost nothing could be seen upon the battlefield except for occasional flashes of attacks between countless Human and Ghost race combatants.

Neither Heinz nor Axel showed any surprise at such an apocalyptic level of attack that would cause anyone to feel despair.

Both of them stomped their feet onto the ground in unison as their figures shot up more than 500 meters high in the sky, one oozing with red smoke and another overflowing with blue lightning.

From afar, it looked like two barely flickering flames were trying to clash head-on against an avalanche of endless zombies.

In mid-air, the Calamity Warlord held his spear towards Axel, who grabbed it with one hand.

With a mighty battle cry, Heinz spun his spear in mid-air with all of his might and hurled Axel’s figure towards the descending rain of undead with devastating speed.

As Axel was hurled into the skies, he arched his hands backward and let out a mighty horizontal slash as he roared, "Blue Lightning Divergence."
