Chapter 186: Chapter 186: The Alliance Forged

Chapter 186: The Alliance Forged

The sky above the diplomatic sector was stained with thick gray smoke.

The Captain walked out onto the grand, ruined balcony of the estate. His ragged woolen tunic billowed in the harsh mountain wind.

Nyx, Lucien, Cole, and Bram followed closely behind him. They looked down at the massive stone plaza stretching out toward the city gates.

Above them, the remaining structure of the shattered archway groaned.

A massive chunk of the stone roof suddenly snapped off. Hundreds of tons of heavy masonry plummeted directly toward Cole and Bram.

Cole reached for his hammer. Bram raised his arms.

FWOOSH!

A blinding streak of crimson fire erupted from the gray clouds. Aegon Logcheville dropped from the sky like a localized meteor.

He gripped his custom-forged Blood Fire Spear with both hands. He slammed the blazing weapon directly into the falling stone block.

The intense heat and raw physical force shattered the massive chunk of masonry instantly.

However, a shower of heavy, jagged rubble still rained down toward the squad.

CRACKLE!

Reina Frost casually stepped out from the shadows of the courtyard. The Cryo-Berserker did not even flinch. She lazily swung her massive double-sided battle axe in a wide arc.

A wave of absolute zero temperature washed over the falling debris. The jagged stones instantly froze solid mid-air.

They transformed into a beautiful, glittering canopy of blue ice. The frozen rocks crashed harmlessly against the pavement, shattering into soft white snow.

Natalie dropped gracefully from a nearby garden wall. The Elven sniper landed perfectly on her feet, a glowing wind arrow already nocked in her bow.

Strike Team Zero was fully reunited.

Cole wiped a stray snowflake from his soot-covered cheek. He glared at Aegon.

"Show-offs," Cole muttered crossing his arms.

"I could have caught that rock with my bare teeth."

Reina leaned the heavy shaft of her axe against her shoulder. She smirked at the young blacksmith.

"You would have broken your jaw, soot-brain," Reina shot back.

"Be grateful we saved your ugly mug."

Aegon pulled his spear from the cracked pavement. He looked at Reina with complete, dense sincerity.

"I had the trajectory perfectly calculated," Aegon stated seriously.

"The ice barrier was highly unnecessary, Reina. I had the situation under control."

Reina rolled her eyes. She let out a loud, dramatic sigh.

"Your math is as bad as your flirting, Logcheville," Reina scoffed.

"Next time, I will let the rock flatten you."

Nyx spun her obsidian daggers flawlessly between her fingers. She stared at the two frontline fighters with total disgust.

"Can you two please flirt after we butcher the monster army?" Nyx asked coldly.

"The unresolved tension is making me deeply nauseous."

Lucien adjusted the silver cuffs of his uniform. He offered a polite, elegant smile.

"I find their lack of subtlety quite charming," Lucien noted.

The Captain did not say a single word. He simply gave a sharp, singular nod.

The trolling and the banter ceased instantly. Aegon, Reina, and Natalie snapped into perfect military formation alongside the rest of the squad.

---

Down in the massive plaza, however, the situation was a catastrophic mess.

Thousands of Dwarven heavy infantry and elite Elven rangers were pouring into the neutral zone. They heard the terrifying, overlapping roars of the monster horde approaching from the lower mountain roads.

But they were completely failing to organize.

Centuries of engineered hatred boiled over. The Elves refused to stand behind the Dwarven shield walls. The Dwarves yelled furiously at the Elves, demanding they lower their glowing bows.

They pushed and shoved each other in the center of the courtyard. It was a chaotic, disorganized mob waiting to be slaughtered.

Forge-King Thorgar and High-Warden Sylveth leaned heavily against the shattered gates of the estate.

They were completely drained of mana from holding up the collapsing roof. They did not have the strength to shout over the deafening noise of the squabbling armies.

The Captain stepped up to the edge of the balcony.

His human container was screaming in agony. His ribs were fractured. His lungs burned. But he did not let a single ounce of pain reach his face. He maintained the cold, unbothered posture of a man entirely in control of the universe.

He did not yell. He did not scream for order.

He tapped into his cosmic core.

[Vector Manipulation]

The Captain grabbed the microscopic soundwaves generated by his own vocal cords. He isolated the kinetic frequency. He forcefully projected his voice directly into the eardrums of every single soldier in the plaza.

"Silence."

The word was spoken softly. But it echoed inside the minds of thousands of soldiers with the weight of a falling mountain.

The entire plaza froze. The yelling stopped instantly. Thousands of armored heads snapped upward, staring at the lone, middle-aged human guard standing on the ruined balcony.

The Captain looked upon the trembling armies with quiet disappointment.

"...You’re afraid of that?"

His voice wasn’t loud. It didn’t need to be.

The battlefield itself seemed to fall silent.

"I expected the heirs of the Forge and the Canopy to possess stronger hearts."

He slowly surveyed the sea of monsters crawling up the mountainside.

"So these are the creatures that have stolen your courage."

A faint, almost pitying smile appeared.

"I have seen avalanches more threatening."

He took another step forward.

"You call that a horde? I call it evidence."

He raised one armored finger toward the endless tide below.

"Evidence that their master has already accepted defeat."

Confused murmurs spread through the ranks.

"If the King Level Beast believed it could defeat you, it would already be standing before these gates."

His golden eyes blazed.

"Instead, it sends vermin. It hides. It schemes. It poisons. Because it knows a truth you have somehow forgotten."

His voice deepened until every word echoed through the mountain itself.

"The hunter does not hide from prey."

"The prey hides from the hunter."

His gaze swept across every dwarf and every elf.

"You have ruled these mountains for a thousand years. The mountains remember your victories."

"The rivers remember your steel."

"The forests remember your arrows."

"So tell me..."

"When did giants begin trembling before insects?"

Silence.

Then the Captain laughed.

A single, confident laugh.

"What an amusing misunderstanding."

He pointed toward the black tide below.

"They are not marching upon your kingdom."

"They are marching toward their graves."

His iron gauntlet rose high.

"Dwarves."

The veterans instinctively straightened.

"Become the wall no beast has ever broken."

His hand shifted toward the elven ranks.

"Elves."

Thousands of bows were raised.

"Become the storm no creature survives."

Then his eyes fell upon the enemy once more.

"As for the King Beast..."

His smile widened.

"It has spent years hiding behind poison, whispers, and disposable lives."

"I shall reward its patience."

"I will grant it the privilege..."

"...of being the last creature to discover why legends fear this mountain."

He drew his weapon.

Its mere presence made the air feel heavier.

"Advance."

His final words rolled across the battlefield like the judgment of a king.

"Today, this mountain does not fight for survival."

"Today..."

"Survival begs this mountain for mercy."

CLANG!

Thousands of heavy Dwarven shields slammed against the cobblestones in perfect, unified synchronization.

SHNK!

Thousands of Elven bowstrings were drawn backward, illuminating the plaza with a blinding array of green wind magic and silver starlight.

The Captain had forged a perfect military machine with a handful of sentences. Thorgar and Sylveth watched from the gates in sheer, unadulterated awe.

The ground suddenly shook violently.

BOOM!

BOOM!

The first wave of the monster horde crashed into the outer edges of the plaza.

They were massive, terrifying mutated rock-trolls. They stood twenty feet tall. Their bodies were heavily infected by the King Level Beast.

Thick, shifting armor made entirely of dark matter coated their stone flesh.

Their arms ended in massive, jagged shadowy scythes. Their lower jaws were split wide open, revealing rows of uneven, rotting teeth dripping with acidic poison.

They roared with dozens of overlapping, demonic voices. They charged blindly toward the unified Elven and Dwarven line.

The Captain did not flinch. He looked at his frontline fighters.

"Aegon. Reina," the Captain commanded. "Break their lines."

Aegon Logcheville did not hesitate. His crimson eyes ignited with a terrifying, joyful light.

[The Asura’s Devouring Crucible]

A blinding pillar of thick, blood-red fire exploded from Aegon’s body. He gripped his spear, the dark metal heating up to a searing white-hot temperature.

Reina Frost spun her double-sided axe. A localized blizzard of freezing snow violently swirled around her boots.

The two Vanguard knights leaped directly from the high balcony. They flew entirely over the Dwarven shield wall.

They did not wait for the enemy to reach the gates. They landed perfectly in the very center of the charging rock-troll horde.

SMASH!

Aegon drove his blazing spear straight through the dense shadow armor of the lead troll.

The sheer thermal output of his Blood Fire instantly incinerated the beast from the inside out.

Reina swung her heavy axe in a brutal, horizontal arc.

She cleaved entirely through the thick stone legs of two towering trolls, instantly freezing their shattered stumps to the cobblestones.

The ordinary soldiers watched the two teenagers butcher the towering nightmares with effortless, terrifying precision.

The Siege of Thaldrasil had officially begun.
