Fairy Tail : I am Ankhseram

Chapter 524 - 524: A New Magic and a New Combat System

"I already saw it?"

Ankh thought back over the memories that had just resurfaced.

Everything Ankhseram had experienced during that period had been shown to him clearly enough, but he didn't remember seeing any spell specifically developed for his future human self.

Wait…

Actually, there might have been one.

Anko noticed the change in his expression and smiled.

"Looks like you figured it out. Ankhseram planned your growth after becoming human far more carefully than you realized."

Ankh hesitated.

"You mean… Enchantment Magic?"

Enchantment Magic was Irene's signature specialty.

More accurately, what mattered here was its advanced form—High Enchantment Magic.

Ordinary Enchantment Magic had almost no direct offensive power.

Wendy was the most obvious example: most of her enchantments were supportive buffs applied to people, and she couldn't freely enchant every kind of object or phenomenon around her.

High Enchantment Magic was different.

Its target could be virtually anything, and what could be enchanted onto that target could likewise be almost anything.

Those two differences alone transformed a seemingly harmless support magic into something with absurd destructive potential and versatility.

Enchant "heat" onto the air, and the atmosphere could erupt into flames.

Enchant "moisture" into the earth, and solid ground could become an enormous swamp.

Enchant "hardness" onto a human body, and that person could become as durable as reinforced steel.

In other words, once someone truly mastered High Enchantment, they could reproduce the effects of almost any conventional elemental magic simply by understanding its underlying principle.

Its destructive ceiling was nearly impossible to estimate, and because the target of an enchantment could be almost anything, defending against it was equally difficult.

Beyond High Enchantment stood Master Enchantment Magic.

Even Irene could only use that level through her Dragon Power.

It was said to be capable of enchanting the forces of nature themselves.

A true master could pull upon stars, interfere with the moon, move oceans, seize the wind, and command lightning.

In theory, it represented the absolute pinnacle of Enchantment Magic.

But according to Ankh's recovered memories, Ankhseram had gone even further.

He had taught Irene how divine power could be incorporated into enchantments, developing a true final evolution—

Divine Enchantment.

Back then, Irene had only just inherited divine power and could barely control it, so she had never successfully completed a Divine Enchantment.

But the Irene of today?

Or Ankh himself?

If either of them truly mastered it now, the results would be beyond imagination.

"You should switch your main focus from Titan Gravity Magic to the Enchantment branch."

Anko smiled as she offered the suggestion.

"You won't lose Titan Gravity's defensive utility, but you'll gain a far broader range of offensive options."

Ankh fell silent and seriously considered it.

Titan Gravity Magic had been incredibly useful when he first learned it.

It naturally redirected and dispersed incoming force while also offering excellent destructive power of its own.

But once Ankh began constantly running into monsters with absurd amounts of Magic Power—dragons, gods, and other creatures whose physical attacks were inevitably reinforced by enormous quantities of magic or divine power—the spell had started showing its limitations.

Anko smiled knowingly.

"Trying to learn too much has never really been your problem. What matters is developing a system that actually suits what you are now—a being constantly moving between human and god."

"The Death God Slayer Magic Seram taught you allows you to use Death Divine Power far more efficiently."

"The Crystals of the Gods I gave you, combined with God Soul Take Over, let you use Life Divine Power to create an enormous variety of specialized bodies."

"Enchantment Magic should serve the same purpose."

"It gives your ordinary Magic Power the greatest possible freedom, while allowing your two divine powers to support and balance it. Depending on the situation, you can change how all three work together."

Ankh listened quietly.

After a moment, he nodded.

"That makes sense. I'll start training Enchantment Magic properly."

Ankh possessed three separate sources of power, but during most battles only his two divine power sources were doing the real work.

Titan Gravity Magic was mostly useful for flight or against specific types of enemies.

It barely consumed enough of his ordinary Magic Power to justify having an entire magic source dedicated to it.

Enchantment Magic, on the other hand, had even broader utility than Celestial Spirit Magic, while also possessing tremendous offensive flexibility.

It really did suit him far better.

Anko nodded happily.

"Exactly. And since you'll be recovering in Edolas for a while anyway, this is the perfect time to start practicing."

"Recovering?"

Ankh blinked.

"Aren't I already healed?"

Anko casually patted him on the shoulder.

Ankh immediately felt as though every muscle in his body had been torn apart at once.

"Hiss—!"

"You seriously thought Zous's power was something you could just shrug off?"

Anko gave him an unimpressed look.

"You're staying here and resting. I'll come by every day to treat you properly."

Ankh grimaced.

"Fine… How long until I'm completely healed?"

His main concern was Earth Land.

If he stayed away for too long, who knew what other monsters, gods, dragons, or lunatics might suddenly crawl out of the woodwork while he wasn't there?

"A few months, probably."

Anko answered casually.

"Once I remove the Destruction Divine Power and Soul Divine Power still buried inside you, you'll be able to use your own Life Divine Power to finish healing yourself."

"A few months…"

Ankh still couldn't hide his concern.

Anko waved it off.

"If you're that worried, have that little fox outside deliver a message to your guild. She obviously wants something from you anyway."

Ankh sighed.

"…Guess that's the only option."

At least Edolas wasn't completely unfamiliar territory.

Mystogan and Anko were both here, so it wasn't as though he would be isolated for months with nobody he knew.

With no better alternative, Ankh accepted that he would have to focus on recovering while beginning serious training in Enchantment Magic.

Before settling in, he asked Selene to deliver a handwritten letter to Fairy Tail so everyone would know he was alive and safe.

Selene's reaction was immediate.

'Are you seriously treating me like your personal delivery dragon now?!'

She stormed away in a fury.

Straight toward Fairy Tail to deliver the letter.

Selene was incredibly irritated by the entire situation.

If she weren't so determined to achieve her own goal, there was no chance she would willingly spend her time running errands for someone else.

As one of the Five Dragon Gods, Selene had once belonged firmly to the aggressive side of dragonkind.

But unlike Ignia, she had never been quite so extreme.

After spending more and more time experiencing human civilization, centuries gradually softened her view of humanity.

More accurately—she fell in love with the human way of life.

Eventually, Selene all but abandoned living as a dragon and immersed herself completely in human society.

She adored moon-viewing.

She loved drinking.

And she considered spending long hours relaxing in hot springs an essential part of daily life.

After enjoying that lifestyle for so many years—and remembering that the terrifying Black Dragon who had once slaughtered dragons until they fled in fear had originally been human—Selene came to a conclusion.

The age of dragons was already over.

The future belonged to humanity.

If dragons wanted to continue living in that future, then coexistence with humans was something they needed to start thinking about now.

Unfortunately, the physical gap between humans and dragons was enormous.

That had troubled Selene for a very long time.

Until the day she met Irene.

Selene had never seen another living creature capable of switching between racial forms so perfectly.

When Irene was human, there was absolutely nothing about her that revealed her draconic nature.

When she became a dragon, not even the faintest trace of humanity remained in her appearance or presence.

After Selene became acquainted with Irene and eventually learned how such a transformation had been achieved, her attention naturally shifted toward Ankh.

That was why Selene—whose personality was far more troublesome than her graceful appearance suggested—had been forcing herself to remain patient and obediently helping him.

At least Ankh had already agreed to help her with what she wanted.

Until then…

She could tolerate him a little longer.
