Falling For My Alpha Stepsister (GL)
Chapter 70: Volleyball But Annoying Set PeopleThird Person
The sun beat brightly and hotly over the district beach, one of the most popular tourist attractions in the area. There were more than a 100 mini huts scattered around, and inside each one, people were either playing games, plotting something, or simply having fun.
Outside the huts was where all the outdoor sports happened. On the beach sand, people played football, volleyball, tug-of-war, and other games. In the water, there was jet skiing, surfing, diving, swimming, and more.
April was playing volleyball with Abigail, Katie, and an unknown Omega boy. Their opponents were the Alpha twins, Sabrina and Carlos, along with Javier and Michael, who happened to be a Beta but was playing on the Alpha team.
That made it four against four.
The game was just a friendly competition. Everyone was giggling and teasing each other. The Alpha team was giving the Omegas their moments, while Abigail was surprisingly good at the game, even better than April, who had claimed she could play well.
Abigail spiked the yellow ball over the high net with a sharp crack, sending it flying straight past Carlos’s reaching arms. April leapt into the air, her jersey flapping in the ocean breeze as her palm slammed the ball back across the line, her face flushed with heat.
Then Angel entered with her so called side piece, Becca.
The pair strolled down the sandy incline, the crowd parting slightly to let the heir pass. Angel’s unbuttoned jacket hung loosely over her shoulders, her eyes half-lidded while Becca strutted right beside her, clinging tightly to her arm.
"Amateurs," Angel mocked.
Her voice cut through the sound of crashing waves, loud and sharp enough for the whole court to hear. Both girls sat down on the sand, acting like a pair of lovey-dovey idiots while smoking shits like it was a normal Tuesday.
"Amateurs?" Abigail repeated. "You think you can beat us at this game? You might be good at skating and football, but you can’t play volleyball."
Abigail caught the ball under her arm, stepping up to the net with her hands on her hips, glaring down at the two sitting in the sand.
"Oh, really? It’s a simple game, like cardio. It’s all about jumping and trying to hit the ball, it would have been better the ball was an actual boob..." Angel said.
She took a slow drag from the joint between her fingers, her crimson eyes tracking the way April was breathing heavily in her oversized sweatpants.
"Angel, do you want to play? If you want to, just say so instead of acting so standoffish," Sabrina said, wiping sweat from her forehead, rolling her eyes at her friend’s lazy posture.
"Standoffish? I’m not playing that game because it’s lame, just like everyone playing it. You are all lame, lame, lame...."
Angel blew a ring of smoke straight toward the court, her expression completely indifferent.
"I support you, baby. Volleyball is so lame," Becca said, her mouth full of smoke as she spoke.
She reached up to stroke Angel’s jawline, offering a lazy smile.
"I don’t need your support. I know what I’m saying. Don’t back me up."
Angel shut her down immediately.
She yanked her face away from Becca’s touch, her tone turning ice-cold as she flicked an ash onto the sand.
"Let’s just leave those two. They’re high as fuck. Come on, let’s continue."
Abigail shook her head, tossing the volleyball back up into the air to serve.
So they ignored Angel’s unreasonable taunting and her act of pretending she didn’t want to play.
Their appearance hadn’t been a coincidence. They had actually been inside a hut getting cozy and high until Angel’s eyes landed on April.
Angel had been sitting on a couch with Becca on her lap when her gaze drifted outside, catching sight of the game on the shore.
Unlike the other girls wearing flower bikinis, April was still wearing the sweatpants and jersey she had changed into earlier.
She wasn’t trying to look sexy.
The baggy clothes hid her body completely, her dark hair tied back in a messy knot while her round glasses kept sliding down her sweaty nose every time she jumped for the ball.
And somehow, Angel couldn’t take her eyes off her.
Something about the way April moved, completely unconcerned with looking pretty for anyone, made Angel’s chest feel strangely tight.
Angel, acting like the ultimate Tsundere, finally stood up, tossed her cigarette aside, and demanded to join the game.
"Move," Angel barked, pointing her finger at the Beta.
Then she proceeded to kick the odd man out.
Michael nonchalantly left the court. He didn’t want a fight with that Alpha, so he went to sit with his little sister, Becca. He raised his hands in peace, stepping
Now it was Alpha against Omega.
And the Alpha team was losing.
It was all because of Angel.
She stood in her back-court position like a statue. Every time the ball flew over the net toward her side, she barely moved her arms. She couldn’t take her eyes off April, staring at the girl like one of those predators she had warned her about.
Her crimson eyes locked onto April’s face, watching the girl’s juicy lips part as she gasped for air, the jersey clinging slightly to her damp back.
"See? I told you. She can’t take her eyes off you. She can’t stop thinking about you either,"
Abigail bumped her shoulder against April’s as they set up for the next serve, keeping her voice low.
"And she’s high," Katie added. "I bet you should take advantage of that and make that strawberry-blonde girl know who Angel belongs to. I don’t like her face..."
Katie adjusted her flower top, glaring over at Becca, who was sulking on the sidelines. Katie was originally the number-one shipper of Angel and April. And she wanted the threat out ASAP..
"Let’s just focus on the game, okay?" April said with a shrug, her cheeks burning hot under Angel’s unblinking stare as she bounced on her toes, waiting for the serve.
The ball flew over the net again, sailing right toward Angel’s head. Angel didn’t even lift her paddle or her hands, letting the ball bounce off her shoulder and land uselessly in the sand.
"That’s it. Angel, you’re out!" Sabrina shouted. "You’re making us lose. I thought you said this game was simple."
Sabrina threw her hands up in utter frustration, her voice echoing over the court. She clearly wasn’t happy that they were getting beaten because the Omegas kept hitting the ball back toward Angel, who wasn’t putting any effort into the game.
Carlos trotted over, grabbing Angel by her arm to pull her back. Someone eventually dragged Angel out of the sand court.
Her eyes never left the four-eyed girl in the grey jersey.
But while the others continued playing, Angel entered the court again.
She didn’t care about the rules, the score, or the people shouting at her to get off the line. This time, however, she walked straight toward April.
She reached out, her fingers wrapping tight around April’s wrist, pulling the girl completely out of her stance. She grabbed her and dragged her out of the game, taking her toward the same hut she had been in earlier.
Everyone stared.
Abigail smiled, Katie cheered softly under her breath, and Carlos just shook his head in amusement. Becca was left sitting there, completely devastated that Angel had abandoned her for that particular girl.
Becca’s mouth hung open in shock, her fists clenching the sand beneath her as she watched the wine-haired Alpha drag the plain, four-eyed girl straight into the privacy of the shaded wooden hut.
