Third Person
So the two were inside one of the restaurants in the district.. Angel watched the Charlie who also happens to be a beta eat, she was eating like someone who has been starved for days..
The girl shoved giant chopsticks full of steaming noodles into her mouth, sauce smearing all over her chin and cheeks as she chewed frantically.
"Careful Perverto.. Do you wish to choke on the noodles.. it’s not running away..." Angel said..
Angel leaned back in her chair, resting one arm over the back of the seat while her eyes tracked the messy scene across the table.
Charlie swallowed the food inside her mouth..
Her throat bobbed hard, her eyes watering for a second before she gasped for air.
"I haven’t eaten all day.. this is the first meal for today.." Charlie said.. grabbing a glass of water and drank..
She slammed the cup back down on the tabletop, wiping her mouth clean with a hand towel.
"So tell me about your stupid relationship with your boss.." Angel said, folding her hand and relaxing her muscles on the chair.
She crossed her long legs under the table, tapping her legs against the floor while waiting for an explanation.
"Our relationship started from when we were in high school and till this day" Charlie said then continued eating..
She dipped her chopsticks right back into the broth, slurping up another huge mouthful without missing a beat.
"Okay I’m listening.." Angel said.. waiting for the rest of the story..
"That is it... nothing more.."
Charlie shrugged her thin shoulders, swirling her noodles around the bowl.
"What kind of a relationship is that... risking your life for a high school what again...?" Now Angel was regretting sitting with the girl.. it wasn’t totally worth it..
She ran a hand over her face, letting out a heavy, irritated sigh into the quiet restaurant.
"Why do you want to start the company in the district, I have heard a lot of rumors about the product your company sells and it’s not a good product..." Angel said
She leaned forward, her eyes narrowing as her voice dropped into a strict, serious tone.
"They are just rumors... many tests have been done and they are good stuff... and also business that happens inside the district stays in the district and also free from officials.. the government does not even have a say here..." Charlie explains..
She set her chopsticks down, looking right into Angel’s eyes with desperate, pleading energy.
"Well in this district we do good things things and not bad products..."
Angel flicked a napkin across the table, her jaw set tight in a hard line.
"Just give me a chance to present our project to Ms Morningstar and you can even test the product before distribution... Please, I really need that contract.. it is the only way I can get married to her..."
Charlie slid forward in her seat, her fingers clutching the edge of the table..
"Seriously why will you be risking your life for that kind of business... is she really that worth it..?"
Angel stared at the girl in disbelief, her mind flashing back to April’s demands for total commitment back in the bedroom.
Why are these kinds of people weird?
"Yes she is.. she is worth more than anything in this world... giving her that contract in exchange for a ring is my power goal and I will do anything for that ring to be put on my finger..."
Charlie spoke with zero hesitation, her voice firm and ringing with absolute certainty despite her messy appearance.
"She is using you..." Angel said
She spat the words out with a cold sneer, crossing her arms over her chest.
"No she is not..."
Charlie shot back, her small frame straightening up in defense of her boss.
"You are stupid and foolish to not see that... there are ton of girls who you can have and you are choosing the one who will drag you to your early grave..."
Angel shook her head, her tone filled with pure disgust for the girl’s blind loyalty.
"I don’t care what you call me, A fool who is in love or a dumb girl who is digging her grave for love.. she is the only girl who gets me... she loves me..." Charlie said like it was a heartwarming confession
She pressed her hand against her chest, a soft, hopeful smile breaking across her bruised face.
"There is no such thing as love."
Angel said it instantly, her eyes flashing with dark, bitter anger as the word left her tongue.
"Yes there is.. Tessa is love, my love... You haven’t fallen in love, that is why you don’t know love.."
Charlie looked back at her with a quiet, knowing pity that made Angel’s blood boil straight to the surface.
The Angel began to laugh at the girl.. from laughing to becoming serious..
A sharp, hollow laugh echoed through the restaurant, cutting off abruptly as Angel’s face turned as cold as ice.
"Get out.."
Her voice came out low, quiet, and dangerous.
"But I’m still eating..."
Charlie pointed a shaking finger at her half-empty bowl of noodles.
"I’m going to phone security and you won’t like it when they get here so get out while I’m still being nice to you..."
Angel stood up, towering over the table with her hands shoved deep into her jacket pockets.
"What about the contract..."
Charlie scrambled to her feet, her hands hovering in the air as she panicked.
"That contract.. forget about it.. there’s no way you and the company you are working for will start a business here... if I see you inside the district anywhere... it will be your last time... Maybe that Tessa love will visit you on the other side.."
Angel leaned right into her face, her eyes burning with an absolute threat that made the spy take two fast steps backward.
Angel called out one of the security nearby to throw Charlie out..
The guard marched over, grabbed Charlie roughly by her upper coat collar, and began yanking her toward the front doors of the restaurant. Charlie stumbled, her shoes dragging along the slick floor as she tried to pull away from his heavy grip.
Far away from the restaurant...
When the security was dragging Charlie... someone stopped them and told him to let her go..
A figure stepped through the front entrance, blocking their path with a calm, commanding posture.
It was Javier..
He stood in his dark, tailored shirt, his sharp jawline set as he held up a hand to pause the guard in his tracks.
"What is it for me if I take your contract to the Madam?"
Javier smiled, his eyes sliding away from the guard and locking directly onto the terrified girl holding her black folder tight against her chest.
