Falling For The True Heiress
Chapter 101: Are We Really Getting A New Couple?I locked my phone and looked at Camila.
"Cam, what are you making?" I asked.
Camila raised her head and looked at me before lowering it again.
"I’m making pancakes and warm milk."
She turned her attention back to the counter.
Camila placed a large bowl on the counter and poured in some flour. She added sugar, a pinch of salt, and cracked an egg into the middle.
Then she poured in some milk and began mixing everything with a whisk.
She stirred until the batter became smooth and creamy, adding a little more milk when it seemed too thick.
When she was satisfied with the consistency, she plugged in the electric cooker and placed a non-stick frying pan on it.
She added a small piece of butter to the pan.
The butter melted slowly, spreading across the surface.
Camila scooped some pancake batter into the middle of the pan and tilted it slightly, allowing the batter to spread into a round shape.
She waited patiently.
Small bubbles began appearing across the surface.
Camila slid a spatula underneath the pancake and carefully flipped it.
It landed perfectly.
She continued cooking the pancakes one after another, placing each finished pancake on a plate.
Soon, the warm, buttery smell filled the kitchen.
While the pancakes cooked, Camila placed a small saucepan on the electric cooker and poured milk into it.
She lowered the heat and stirred the milk occasionally, making sure it stayed warm without boiling.
After a few minutes, she turned off the cooker and poured the warm milk into a cup.
Camila carried the plate of pancakes and the cup of milk over to me.
"There."
I looked at the food, then back at her. "You made all this?"
She shrugged, avoiding my eyes. "I thought you might be hungry."
A small smile pulled at my lips. "Thank you, Cam."
Camila smiled softly. "Eat before it gets cold."
"Hey, what about mine?" Felix called as he walked toward us.
Camila glanced back at the pan before looking at him.
"Are you hungry?" she asked, her voice calm and casual.
Felix nodded as he reached the kitchen counter. He pulled out one of the tall stools and dropped onto it, resting his arms against the counter.
Camila didn’t say anything.
She simply turned toward the kitchen cabinet and pulled out another plate.
I watched her for a moment.
There was something almost domestic about the way she moved around the kitchen. She didn’t need to ask what Felix wanted or how much he could eat. She seemed to already know.
I smiled faintly.
Then I glanced toward the sitting room.
Danny was sitting on the couch with one arm casually draped over Sasha’s shoulder. They were both staring at something on Danny’s phone.
"Are you guys also eating?" Camila asked.
Danny lifted her head and looked at Sasha.
"Are you still eating?"
Sasha shook her head, then looked toward Camila.
"We’re fine."
Camila nodded and closed the cabinet.
I turned my attention back to Danny and Sasha.
There was definitely something going on between those two.
I wasn’t imagining it.
The way they sat together. The way Danny seemed completely comfortable touching Sasha. And the way Sasha kept smiling whenever Danny looked at her.
It was subtle, but it was there.
Danny suddenly looked up from her phone and laughed at something on the screen.
She turned toward Sasha.
Sasha was already looking at her, holding a chocolate bar between her fingers as she chewed slowly.
Their eyes met, and neither of them looked away.
Then Danny smiled. She reached over and gently brushed a loose strand of hair away from Sasha’s face, tucking it behind her ear.
Sasha’s smile widened.
I blinked.
Oh.
My smile slowly increased.
Yeah.
There was definitely something going on.
I shook my head, trying not to laugh.
I had no idea when those two had gotten this close, but apparently, I had been too busy dealing with my own love life to notice what was happening right in front of me.
I turned back toward my plate and started digging in.
At least my food wasn’t complicated. Unlike everyone else in this house.
Camila placed a plate and a glass of milk in front of Felix.
"There."
Felix looked down at the food, then back at her.
"Thanks, Cam."
I immediately choked.
Cough!
Cough!
Cough!
My fork nearly slipped from my hand as I covered my mouth, coughing hard.
I quickly turned toward Felix. He didn’t even look at me. Not even once.
He was already digging into his food, completely unbothered.
I stared at him in disbelief.
Was he seriously going to pretend he hadn’t just said that?
I slowly turned toward Camila.
She was frozen. Her eyes were wide, and her lips were slightly parted.
For a moment, she looked like her brain had completely stopped working.
Then she blinked before finally looking at me, and our eyes met.
I could practically hear the question in her expression.
Don’t.
I bit my lip, but it was too late.
A smile was already spreading across my face. I lowered my head toward my plate, desperately trying to hide it.
"This place is stinking with romance, gosh," I muttered quietly.
Camila’s head snapped toward me.
I kept my eyes on my food. I could feel her staring at me.
I tried to look innocent, but I actually failed.
A tiny laugh escaped me.
Camila sighed and shook her head before finally sitting down opposite me.
She picked up her fork and began eating silently.
Felix continued eating like nothing had happened.
I glanced between the two of them, then toward Danny and Sasha back at Camila.
I couldn’t help smiling.
It seemed like everyone around me was secretly falling for someone.
And somehow, I was the only one who hadn’t noticed until now.
Well...
Maybe not the only one.
My smile disappeared slightly because the moment Sylvia’s face crossed my mind, the warmth in my chest returned.
I lowered my eyes to my plate.
"Coach," Sasha called. "Are we done with today’s practice?"
Felix nodded without even bothering to look up.
Sasha let out a long, dramatic sigh and leaned into Danny’s side.
"Seriously?"
She pushed herself to her feet, already looking relieved.
"That’s good. Let’s g—"
"But we have a game tonight." Felix cut her off so smoothly that she stopped mid-step.
I lifted my head from my plate and looked at Sasha.
Her mouth fell open. "What?"
She almost screamed the word before dropping back onto the seat with a defeated groan.
Felix finally looked up at her, one eyebrow raised.
"Or what? You don’t want to prepare properly for the upcoming game?"
Sasha’s expression fell. She slowly lowered her head until it rested on Danny’s shoulder.
Danny glanced down at her and smiled.
Then, with an amused look, she reached up and gently patted Sasha’s head.
"Be a good girl."
Sasha lifted her head slightly.
"Fine. Whatever." She sighed dramatically before settling against Danny again.
I bit back a laugh.
She looked like a child who had just been told she couldn’t have dessert.
But then Camila suddenly dropped her fork.
Clink.
I looked over.
She was staring directly at Danny and Sasha.
A mischievous smile slowly spread across her face.
"Oh?"
Sasha lifted her head.
Camila leaned back in her chair. "So... are we really getting a new couple here?"
Danny and Sasha froze at her sudden words.
I blinked and then looked between them.
Oh, this was going to be interesting.
"What?" Sasha asked, her voice suddenly much quieter.
Camila pointed between them. "You two."
"There’s nothing going on," Danny immediately said.
I raised an eyebrow with a smile.
Sasha glanced at her, and Danny glanced back at Sasha.
And that tiny exchange was enough to make my suspicion grow.
Camila noticed it too.
"Nothing?" she repeated, clearly enjoying herself.
Sasha sat upright. "Of course not!"
"Really?"
"Yes!"
Camila grinned. "Then why were you lying on her shoulder?"
"I was tired!"
"And why did she call you a good girl?"
Sasha’s mouth opened, but nothing came out.
Danny’s cheeks slowly turned pink.
I couldn’t hold it anymore.
I burst out laughing. "Oh my God."
Sasha shot me a glare. "Amelia, don’t start."
I raised both hands innocently. "I didn’t say anything."
"You’re laughing!"
"Because you’re cute when you’re embarrassed."
Sasha groaned and buried her face in her hands.
Danny looked away, clearly trying to hide her own smile.
Camila leaned toward me and whispered, "I knew there was something going on."
I nodded. "You were right."
I looked back at them.
There was definitely something between Danny and Sasha.
Maybe they hadn’t admitted it yet.
Maybe they hadn’t even figured it out themselves.
But watching the way they looked at each other, I couldn’t help smiling.
Everyone seemed to be falling for someone lately.
And somehow, our little group was becoming one big mess of secret feelings, stolen glances, and embarrassing moments.
I lowered my eyes to my plate with a quiet smile.
Immediately, my phone vibrated against the counter.
The sudden sound made me glance down, and my smile disappeared immediately when I saw the sender.
Janina.
I stared at her name on the screen.
For a moment, I wondered if I was imagining it.
Why the hell was she texting me?
Of all the people who could have messaged me, Janina was the last person I expected to see lighting up my screen.
My stomach tightened.
I didn’t even want to open the message.
Whatever she wanted, I already knew it wasn’t going to be anything good.
I stared at the notification for a few seconds longer before slowly reaching for my phone.
What the hell could Janina possibly want from me?
