Falling For The True Heiress

Chapter 11: Do You Think I Will Still Want You

"I’ll feed you, Lia," Daniela said, looking at me. She was smiling as she reached for my hand while we walked toward the cafeteria.

"Huh?" I blinked, completely caught off guard.

Camila almost choked from laughing. "Daniela, please try to act normal for one day," Camila said, holding her stomach.

"I am acting normal," Daniela replied.

I sighed, rubbing my forehead.

Why do I suddenly feel like I adopted another Sylvia?

We continued walking down the corridor until we reached the cafeteria building.

Westbrook High wasn’t an ordinary school.

It was one of the most prestigious schools in the country. Most of the students came from wealthy and influential families. Some were heirs to large companies, while others were the children of politicians, celebrities, and business owners.

Because of that, even the cafeteria looked nothing like a normal school cafeteria.

The moment we walked inside, cool air greeted us.

The cafeteria was enormous.

The ceiling stretched high above us, decorated with elegant chandeliers that filled the room with warm light. Floor-to-ceiling glass windows covered one side of the building, allowing sunlight to pour in.

Polished wooden tables arranged neatly across the hall. Some areas even had comfortable booth seats for students who wanted more privacy.

The food section looked more like a luxury restaurant buffet, where students could choose from different cuisines every day.

Italian.

Japanese.

Chinese.

Korean.

Spanish.

French.

American.

There was even a dessert station filled with cakes, pastries, ice cream, chocolates, and fruit tarts.

Several professional chefs stood behind the counters preparing fresh meals.

It looked more like a five-star hotel restaurant than a school cafeteria.

Daniela looked around in amazement.

"Your school cafeteria is bigger than some restaurants I’ve been to," she said.

Camila laughed. "Wait until you see the graduation banquet."

Daniela’s eyes widened.

I continued walking toward an empty table. Sylvia walked behind me looking around the cafeteria.

The cafeteria was crowded, but the moment we entered, several students turned to look at us.

The whispering started almost immediately.

"That’s Amelia."

"The fake heiress."

"Who’s the new girl with her?"

"She’s so pretty."

"Why are both Sylvia and Daniela always around Amelia and Camila?"

I pretended not to hear any of it.

We reached the empty table near the windows and sat down.

The sunlight streamed through the glass, making the entire area bright and comfortable.

"So what are we eating?" Camila asked looking at me.

"I’m getting pasta," I said.

"I’m getting whatever Lia is getting," Daniela said immediately.

Camila burst out laughing. "Daniela, you’re not helping your case."

Daniela looked confused. "What case?"

"The fact that you’re acting obsessed." Camila said laughing even harder.

Daniela nearly choked.

I turned to Sylvia. "What about you?"

"I will have anything," she said resting back on the chair.

I stood up before the Camila and Daniela could continue their argument again.

"I’m going to get food." I said.

"I’m coming with you," Daniela said, standing up immediately.

"I’m coming too," Camila added.

I turned to Sylvia. "Won’t you get yours? Or are you waiting for me to get it?" I asked tilting my head.

And she stood, smiling. "Maybe that’s what I want?"

I scoffed and walked away.

We walked toward the buffet section together.

I couldn’t shake the feeling that dozens of eyes were still following us across the cafeteria.

I picked up my tray and stared at the buffet for a moment.

I ordered for a plate of chicken Alfredo pasta.

I added a slice of garlic bread and an iced coffee, then turned a little.

Sylvia was already standing beside me.

She didn’t even look at the long list of food options.

"I’ll have grilled salmon with steamed vegetables," she said. "And a glass of orange juice."

The staff nodded and quickly plated it for her.

"That’s all?" Camila asked.

Sylvia nodded. "I don’t need that much food."

"You really like orange juice, huh?" I asked, staring at the orange juice that was served to her.

Sylvia smiled. "Maybe."

Daniela walked straight toward the Spanish section.

Her eyes immediately lit up.

"They actually have paella?" she asked in surprise.

"Of course they do," Camila replied. "This is Westbrook."

Daniela laughed softly and picked up a plate of seafood paella filled with saffron rice, shrimp, mussels, and vegetables.

"It tastes almost like home," she said happily. And she grabbed a glass of orange juice.

Sylvia looked at the drink and then at Daniela.

"You like orange juice too?" Amelia asked.

Daniela nodded. "I’ve liked it since I was little."

"What a coincidence," Camila said, laughing. "Lia also likes orange juice too."

Daniela smiled and took a sip.

"Then I guess we have good taste."

Sylvia looked down at her own orange juice before glancing at Daniela.

Camila then walked up to the buffet to pick her own food

"I’ll just take a grilled chicken Caesar salad," she said, pointing.

She paused, then added, "And fries. I need something unhealthy to balance my life."

Daniela laughed. "That’s not how balance works."

Camila shrugged and picked up an iced lemon tea.

We walked back to the table and sat down.

I picked up my fork and was about to start eating when I heard a voice behind me.

Here comes trouble again.

"Well, well, well. Look who we have here."

I put down my fork slowly and turned around.

It wasn’t the students who had been mocking me about my status. It wasn’t Dana or Priya or any of the whispers that had been following me all morning.

It was someone who had been waiting for me to fall so they could take my fiancé."

Xander Vale was walking toward me with his hands in his pockets.

And he wasn’t alone.

The girl walking beside him was someone I recognized immediately.

Vivienne Cole

Hee had promised me he would never be around her again. She had known from the beginning that he was my fiancé and she hadn’t cared even a little. And neither had he kept his promise.

Before my birthday he would have shown up at my classroom first thing in the morning to give me some snacks.

But that was before.

Since my birthday, Xander had been acting different.

Oh, right... I’m not the true heiress anymore.

"Xander." I said, forcing a smile.

He didn’t smile back.

He walked right up to me and leaned in close, one hand reaching out to touch my face gently.

Camila stood up immediately and stepped toward me.

"Do you really think I would still want you?" Xander said quietly, a smirk curling on his lips.

The whole room started spinning. My vision blurred. Tears burned immediately behind my eyes and I hated them.

I hated that they came so fast. I hated that he could still do this to me.

I felt like someone had reached into my chest and squeezed it.

Xander was already turning to leave like it was nothing.

I looked up at his back. I still didn’t believe what just happened. I really have to hear what he said again.

"What did you just say?"
