The person was wearing black sunglasses, a short blue gown and had their hair tied up neatly in a ponytail.
That figure looked familiar.
I leaned forward a little in my seat, to get a better view.
"Lia." Camila’s voice pulled me back. "Are you even listening to me?"
"One second." I said, not taking my eyes off the glass.
But wait. I think I have seen this person somewhere before.
Sylvia? Oh, Sylvia again.
I can’t even have peace outside the house. How did she even know I was here?
I stood up and walked out.
"Lia," Camila called.
"I’ll be right back." I said without looking back.
I walked out of the café. The moment I stepped outside, warm air hit my face, along with the sound of passing cars and distant voices from people walking by. The sun was bright, and I had to narrow my eyes a little to adjust.
I walked over to where Sylvia was peeking, she immediately pretended to be on her phone.
"I know it’s you." I said, sounding annoyed.
She paused, then slowly pulled off her sunglasses. She smiled and waved at me.
"What are you doing here? And who brought you?" I asked, looking around.
"I asked Mom, and she told the driver to bring me here." She said, looking towards where her car was parked.
I opened my bag, took out my phone and called Mom.
"Hello, Mom." I said.
Sylvia immediately snatched the phone from my hand. Her fingers brushed mine and she ended the call.
"What did you just do?" I asked, staring at her.
"Mom knew exactly what you were going to do and warned me." She said, stepping closer to me.
"You said I could only appear in front of you when I want to torment you, right?" She asked, tilting her head.
I nodded slowly, stepping back. But she kept stepping closer.
"Then I’m here for that."
"Huh? Why here?" I asked.
"Do I have to choose when and where to torment you for stealing my happy life?" She asked, meeting my gaze.
I shook my head. "No."
"Good. Then buy me a coffee." She said, walking straight into the café.
I stood there staring after her.
What just happened? Did she just tell me to buy her coffee as her idea of torment?
If that’s how she wants to torment me then I might as well buy her this entire café.
I shook my head and walked back in.
Camila was looking at Sylvia who walked toward our table, waving at her.
"Who are you?" Camila asked, looking at Sylvia.
"I’m Sylvia, Amelia’s sister." Sylvia said, smiling.
"Amelia’s sister?" Camila repeated with a frown.
"Oh! The real daughter of the Winstons?"
"Yeah." Sylvia said, nodding.
Camila smiled and waved back at her.
"Hi, I’m Camila, Lia’s best friend."
"Lia?" Sylvia asked, looking toward me as I walked in.
"Yeah, that’s what I call her." Camila said, smiling.
Sylvia nodded.
I walked to the table and sat down.
"Your coffee is already cold, Lia. Do you want to order another one?" Camila said, touching my cup.
I nodded and turned to look at Sylvia.
"I don’t need to do any introductions, right?" I asked.
"We already did that." Sylvia said, smiling at Camila.
"Okay then."
Daniel came to take our orders.
"Miss Amelia, your usual, right?" He asked, looking at me.
I nodded. "And an Americano for her."
Daniel nodded and left.
"How did you know she likes Americano?" Camila asked, tilting her head and smiling.
"I just guessed." I replied, scrolling through my phone.
"Oh!" Camila said, still smiling.
I turned to Sylvia. "Americano is good, right?"
Sylvia nodded, smiling.
Why is she smiling? I’m only ordering it because I want peace.
Soon, Daniel came back with our orders.
"Miss Amelia, this is yours." He said, setting my coffee down in front of me.
"And —" he said, looking up at Sylvia.
"Sylvia." Sylvia said, taking the coffee from him. "Thanks."
Daniel smiled and left.
"Lia, won’t you drink your coffee before it gets cold again?" Camila asked, looking at me.
"Cam, take a look at this." I said, handing my phone over to her.
"What?!" Camila screamed, looking at me.
I nodded, smiling.
"Lia, you are sleeping at my house this week." Camila said, giggling.
"Umm—" I stammered.
"What now?" Camila said, frowning.
"Nothing." I said, sipping my coffee.
I just remembered. Sylvia can’t sleep alone. Who would she sleep with if I went to Camila’s house?
Amelia, why are you thinking about her? She’s just being nice so she can strike when your guard is down.
I sipped my coffee and brushed off the thought.
When we were done we stood up and walked outside the café. The afternoon air felt warmer again after the cool café.
Camila’s driver was already waiting outside. She walked toward her car.
"Lia... Sylvia, bye." She waved at both of us as she got in and the car drove off.
I walked back to my car and noticed Sylvia following me. I turned toward her.
"Why are you following me?" I asked. "Or is there still—"
"Yeah, drive me home." She said, interrupting me.
I was very annoyed this time. "What do you mean?"
"I said drive me home. Or do you need me to announce it?"
I let out a deep breath and opened my car door.
"Get in." I said, sighing.
