"Mother, Father, Boone, Raul, Rex, ED-E, and Twig will go in. Roger, Cassidy, and Veronica were on my list too, but—"
"—They’ve been sleeping together for a while now."
Raul interrupted, arms crossed casually.
"Figured you ought to know, boss."
Six blinked.
"...Wait, what?
"Seriously? Isn’t Veronica a Lesbian?"
Raul gave an exaggerated shrug, his weathered ghoul face splitting into a lopsided grin.
"Bisexual, actually. They’ve been going at it like radscorpions in heat, boss. Roger’s been sweet on Cassidy ever since she patched him up during that run-in with those cocaine bears. Guess one thing led to another—and another, and another, and eventually Cassidy brought Veronica in their fun."
Rebecca snorted, clearly amused as she tightened the straps on her Riot gear.
"Honestly? Good for them. Cassidy’s always been a bit wild, but she needed someone to keep up, and Veronica’s a blast to hang around with. Guess Roger’s more than just an old pirate with a sword."
Boone, already in full recon gear, didn’t even look up from his rifle scope.
"They’re functional in combat. That’s all I care about. Just don’t let their pillow talk distract them from a perimeter breach."
Tanya didn’t so much as blink at the revelation.
"We’ll have time for romantic drama after we neutralize this potential threat. For now, their compatibility improves team cohesion metrics. I approve."
Six chuckled and gave Raul a nudge.
"Next, you’re gonna tell me Rex has a thing for ED-E."
Raul deadpanned.
"Nah, boss. Rex is strictly loyal. ED-E’s too busy playing Radio New Vegas reruns through his speakers to flirt."
"Alright."
Six said, stepping toward the holographic map Tanya was projecting. He pointed toward a canyon trail leading up to a marked bunker entrance.
"We go in through the sewer junction here, stick to the northwest pipe—avoids the tripwire grid. Tanya, you’ll take August, Levy and Missy down through the service tunnels on the east flank to cut off potential backup. Rebecca, you and Boone take Raul, Rex, and ED-E to cover the upper level of the bunker and set charges to collapse it if we need a hard exit."
Tanya tapped the map again.
"We’ll also need to deploy pulse mines—Elijah loved his holograms, and they’re likely to be active inside the Madre."
Six nodded.
"I’ll lead the infiltration into the vault. I want to see what he’s built in there—and tear it down with my own hands if I have to."
Rebecca leaned in and kissed his cheek.
"Just don’t start monologuing again. Last time you did that, you almost got shot mid-sentence."
"No promises."
From the edge of the room, Roger, Cassidy, and Veronica finally emerged—disheveled but geared up, Cassidy sipping from a metal flask like it was her morning coffee.
Cassidy grinned.
"You guys talking about us?"
"..."
Veronica’s face turned bright red, blushing.
Roger smirked.
"We ready to blow up a haunted vault yet, or are we still gossiping like New Reno bartenders?"
Six gave them a thumbs-up.
"Mount up, team. We’re going to the Sierra Madre. Let’s go remind this place what happens when it messes with Goodsprings."
Tanya rolled her eyes.
"Keep the pillow talk off comms. Everyone else, get ready. We deploy in four hours. Expect traps. Expect hostiles. And expect the unexpected."
Six gave Tanya a long, proud look.
"You sure you’re only seven?"
Tanya didn’t miss a beat.
"Only chronologically."
Four hours later, beneath the clouded skies of the Mojave, the strike team in knightmare armors was gathered outside a rusted sewer access hatch nestled between two collapsed service buildings. The air was thick with tension, and just a hint of cigar smoke from Raul and Roger.
Six stood at the front of the group, his Terminator armor painted matte black with faint red glow lines pulsing along the arms—subtle but intimidating.
"This is it."
He said, looking back at the squad.
Tanya adjusted her armor’s factsphere sensors and slung her Veris rifle behind her. She stood next to August, Levy, and Missy—all in customized Terminator armor reinforced with stealth tech and close-combat enhancements.
August, already scanning the area through his helmet’s factsphere sensors HUD, muttered.
"I’m detecting movement under the eastern trail—heat signatures, could be mutated wildlife or scouts."
"I’ll handle it."
Missy said, flexing her armor’s gauntlets.
"Been itching for a fight anyway."
"Focus."
Tanya said, not looking at her little sister.
"We’re cutting off reinforcements, not starting a brawl."
"Same thing if we’re lucky."
Levy added with a grin.
Meanwhile, Rebecca was syncing her armor’s HUDs with the crew. ED-E beeped a cheery chime, hovering between them. Rex gave a low growl and trotted ahead, sniffing the sewer grate.
Boone clicked a fresh mag into his rifle.
"Once inside, we clear the upper walkways, watch for sentry points and ceiling turrets. Raul, you’re on traps."
"I’m a ghoul, not a miracle worker—but I’ll make it look good."
Twig nervously checked his armor’s slash harkens, eyes darting between everyone.
"Uh... how haunted is haunted? Like, just spooky music and flickering lights? Or, like, actual ghost holograms again?"
Cassidy passed him the flask.
"Drink. You’ll stop asking questions."
"...Fair."
Veronica grinned as she finished adjusting her Power Fist layered under her armor’s gauntlet.
"Let’s crack this place open like a cold bottle of quantum."
Roger, in his armor, unsheathed his saber and rested it over his shoulder.
"I call dibs on whatever eldritch horror is guarding the vault. Been a while since I fought something that bleeds glow."
"Enough talk."
Six said.
"Time to move."
He looked at Tanya one more time as the sewer gate creaked open.
"You have operational command until I get inside. Keep your siblings alive."
Tanya nodded once.
"Yes, sir."
"Boone, Raul—let’s breach."
With that, the group descended into the sewer tunnels, their landspinners, self-propelled roller skates, echoed through the damp, decaying underground. The darkness ahead whispered promises of treasure, terror, and trouble in equal measure.
Somewhere beyond the winding tunnels, the signal from the Sierra Madre pulsed quietly... waiting.
