Calling the property management, one can easily predict their usual behavior. When owners ask questions, they first claim ignorance, say investigations are needed, and ask the owners to stay inside their homes. In doing so, how could any concerned owners bear it? They all rushed out of their homes to the scene.
The police had set up a cordon at the scene to prevent unauthorized personnel from entering, to protect the existing evidence.
A group of people could only stand on the periphery and watch.
In the homeowner group, there’s bound to be someone who knows whose house this was. First, someone recognized whose residence had the incident: "Is this Director Hao’s house?" Immediately, everyone quickly realized who the injured mother and son lying on the concrete ground were, and the gasps echoed through the crowd: "Oh my God, that’s Director Hao’s daughter-in-law and grandson!"
"Does Director Hao know his daughter-in-law and grandson are in trouble? Are Director Hao and his wife not at home?"
"Director Hao doesn’t live here. This is his younger son’s house. We need to call Director Hao and his wife immediately."
"Where is Director Hao’s younger son now?"
"He should be on a business trip. His younger son is more capable than his eldest son, a top student, graduated from Cambridge and returned. Director Hao trusts him a lot and it’s said that all the major business deals in the company are handled by this younger son."
"Did his wife and son get hit by a car?"
It’s unlikely for a young woman and a child to suddenly suffer a heart attack and collapse at their doorstep. The most likely cause is a car accident.
No surprise, people first suspected the gray sedan parked across from them as the culprit vehicle.
Driver Old Liu shouted anxiously, "No. When we arrived, they were already lying there, and a doctor was giving them first aid. They were electrocuted."
"Electrocuted? How is that possible? Did their household wiring leak electricity?"
"They said a wire had broken and was resting on their big iron gate. See for yourselves."
The owners on-site looked up and saw that half of the wire flickering in the night sky, swaying in the wind like a noose from the gallows.
Thump, thump, thump, some older owners suffered heart spasms on the spot.
How terrifying. This is a high-end community, yet such a man-made disaster happened?!
"You all stop talking nonsense." The property security guard came over, stopping Old Liu from saying more, "The police are investigating, and it’s unclear whose wire it is."
The property management was more afraid because if the wire came from a community facility, it would clearly be the property management’s responsibility.
"If it wasn’t your property company’s wire, whose was it?" a group of owners shouted anxiously.
"During our patrols, we never saw this wire. If we had found it, our property management would definitely have called the power company to send someone for repairs. We’ve notified the power company, and they said they’d send someone over immediately to assist in finding out where the wire came from." The security guard said excitedly, pointing to his phone.
The power company, equally afraid of taking responsibility, quickly dispatched emergency vehicles and professionals to assist in the investigation.
"The power company asked us if it was the owners who improperly installed and connected wires without safety measures, ultimately leading to the electrocution. So they wanted a thorough investigation to determine whose responsibility it was," the security guard said.
This statement made some of the owners indignant and furious: "You say we improperly wired, show us the evidence. Would we risk our own lives? Open your eyes and look, is there any renovation going on at their place? If not, where would irresponsible wiring come from? If it wasn’t your property management, who else could it be?"
