Chapter 2470: Trying On Wedding Dresses

No work on weekends; it was a rest day.

After asking around, Wei Shangquan and the others learned that after adopting the treatment plan Xie Wanying had given yesterday, the patient’s edema had begun to subside. With a nasogastric tube providing nutritional support, the child was much more spirited today. Student Wei cried out in his heart: Student Xie is amazing.

Dr. Han, who was on duty in the hospital, went to the PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit) on behalf of his superior to see the patient and at the same time observed the situation of the neighboring bed. He then called Mu Yongxian to report. What took his breath away was that the female medical student from yesterday, whether by sheer luck or not, had adjusted the drug dosages and combinations, and it had actually produced a miraculous effect.

In the afternoon during her break, Xie Wanying received a message from her second senior sister, He Xiangyu. After they decided which bridal shop to visit to inspect wedding dress fabrics in person, the two agreed on a time to meet outside.

Just then, Student Wei called wanting to consult her about the medication regimen. Learning that she was heading out, he volunteered to drive her.

With Student Wei driving, there was no need to transfer between buses forever. Grateful for her classmate’s help, Xie Wanying got into his car.

The car pulled up at the bridal shop, and they saw that the second senior sister had not arrived yet.

The two of them walked into the bridal shop and were greeted by the sight of a refined-looking gentleman standing at the door of the women’s fitting room, wearing a familiar pair of gold-rimmed glasses. The two classmates recognized him and called out, "Senior Brother Yu."

"Hey, what are you two doing here?" Yu Xuexian pointed at them and asked.

"Is Senior Kang trying on her wedding dress?" Wei Shangquan’s excited voice was like a little sparrow’s.

The more they spent time together, the more they felt Student Wei’s adorable side; he was straightforward by nature, honest in both words and deeds.

Meeting his junior brother’s expectant little gaze, Yu Xuexian felt slightly self-conscious, pushed up his glasses, and forced himself to answer with feigned calm.

Xie Wanying and Wei Shangquan exchanged a look: this meant their senior brother and senior sister’s wedding date was near.

Right after that, Xie Wanying recalled the phone call Senior Cao had made to Senior Brother Yu at home before. It seemed that sometimes all it took was a change in perspective on a matter. Perhaps Senior Brother Yu hadn’t wanted to rush into marriage because he wanted Teacher Lu to have something to look forward to, a reason to keep fighting to live. Now that he was willing to get married, maybe he was thinking of bringing some joy to Teacher Lu.

"I thought if you were coming, it’d be your Senior Cao driving you," Yu Xuexian said to her, thinking of the others who were supposed to come.

In reality, she hadn’t contacted Senior Cao today; she had arranged to meet her second senior sister. Clearly, Senior Kang and Senior Brother Yu had previously consulted Senior Cao about the wedding dress, and today they had asked Senior Cao to come help give his opinion.

Senior Cao had always had a good eye for clothes and styling; it showed that she wasn’t the only one who believed Senior Cao knew how to run a household.

"Find a place to sit," Yu Xuexian said to his junior brother and junior sister. "When your Senior Kang comes out after trying on the wedding dress, you can give her some suggestions. She doesn’t really have any opinions about this kind of thing, and I’m not much help either."

Originally, Wei Shangquan had planned to leave after dropping her off, but he stayed to wait with them.

Outside the shop, the sound of rain pattered and splashed, growing heavier.

The sudden rain over the past two days had caught the city folk off guard. The rain that came with the shift from winter to spring was both damp and cold, nothing like the gentle, silent spring rain in the poems. Because of the rainy day, there were hardly any customers in the shop. The attendants all hovered around the few of them.

Sitting on the sofa, Xie Wanying took a glass of water and drank, then flipped through the bridal magazines provided by the shop. A wind chime hung on the door of the bridal shop. It rang whenever someone came in.

With a crisp "clang-clang" from the wind chime, someone walked in, folded up a black umbrella, shook off the raindrops, and placed it in the umbrella stand at the entry. The movements carried an air of unhurried, tasteful elegance.
