As Chrollo calls out Hisoka’s name, everyone’s attention immediately shifts toward him.

Is he gonna expose him?! Maybe have Pakunoda read his thoughts?!

“I need you... and the others, to take out your phones and hand them to me,” Chrollo states. “It appears that they’ve been compromised.”

The phones? That’s just an excuse... why doesn’t he just get rid of Hisoka? That freak has never been helpful... he’s clearly suspicious, and with our warning, he doesn’t gain anything by keeping him around. Why not simply kill him... right here, right now?

Should Princess Jewel sneak-attack him?

No. Leave it to Chrollo... he must have a plan... at least I hope so?

“Shal... keep yours,” Chrollo says. “If something happens, call immediately. If we find out something, I’ll inform you.”

“Okay, boss,” Shalnark replies, and he, along with Phinks, Machi, and Shizuku, leaves after everyone except him hands over their phone.

Alex, along with Menchi, also gives up his, smiling to himself, knowing that he can still contact Benezia with his Tiny Den Den Mushi.

Feitan then drags the captured Owl away. Alex, despite his disgust, decides to follow him into a smaller room within the building.

Jewel... you and Menchi need to watch fucking Hisoka. Make sure he doesn’t cheat us all by using his Hatsu. Maybe he pulled some fuckin trick by disguising a stone as a phone and vice versa.... That guy loves living on the edge, and he lies and cheats just for fun.

Princess Jewel will take a good look at his foolish Peasant attempts, using at least 10 of her royal eyes!

That should... suffice, I guess.

“Can I... listen in?” he asks Feitan.

“Sure, didn’t think you’d be a fellow enthusiast. Enjoy the show... he... he...” Feitan snickers creepily.

Watching Feitan’s brutal methods, Alex feels more than just disgust. Seeing him at work, methodically destroying the man’s existence, breaking his bones, pulling his nails, which are just the start and a ‘warm-up exercise’, he feels genuinely disturbed. What follows are the most terrifying and gruesome torture methods Alex can imagine, some even beyond what he thought human cruelty could accomplish.

Owl, despite doing his best, can’t help but almost immediately give in, easily giving up the entire loot, which quickly fills up his ‘Fun Fun Cloth’, filling the entire room with expensive treasure. Of course, Feitan does not simply stop; he keeps up his torture to immediately extract more information.

Chrollo, hearing the commotion, enters the room after a while.

“I need a few minutes alone with our guest,” Chrollo states.

“After that... the room is yours, and you can take your pick,” the Troupe’s leader declares, glancing at Alex.

He’ll steal his Hatsu... I guess...

“Sure,” Alex replies, leaving the room again.

As promised, just half an hour later, Chrollo returns to the others.

“Feitan, let him take his pick now,” Chrollo states. “Just one of the special prizes; I’ve sorted them out. As for the others, they seem uninteresting, and he can pick as many as he wants or just receive cash later... his choice.”

Princess Jewel is excited!

Jewel... let me and Menchi take a look. You need to make sure the clown doesn’t pull any stunts.

No... how cruel. Princess Jewel objects.

Just do it.

Alex, along with Menchi, returns to the room. Exactly as promised, a few items are placed on a decorative small table, which seems to have been stolen as well.

Escorted by Feitan, the pair steps in front of it.

Immediately after looking at the loot, Alex’s attention is drawn to a special object.... A small glass tank filled with water, with two crimson eyeballs floating inside it.

[Kurta Eyes]

World: Hunter x Hunter

Quality: Deep Purple

Type: Eyes (Organ)

Effect: Can be used in various professions.

Note: Being incredibly rare, these eyes belong to a chosen member of the Kurta Tribe. When the owner of such eyes dies while in an agitated state, their eyes permanently retain their exotic color. Widely accepted as one of the most beautiful colors in the world.

Note: Contains the purest part of the Kurta Bloodline.

“Not bad,” Menchi says, eyeing them closely. “Maybe I can cook them?”

“Are you insane? I am not interested in engaging in cannibalism!” Alex instantly denies her request, looking more than just a little disgusted.

“However...” Alex mutters. “The purest part of the Kurta bloodline....”

Alex recalls his recently obtained item, [Leylin Farlier’s Bloodline Extraction Syringe], capable of creating a unique Innate skill after a bloodline has been obtained.

This... could it work?

Holding the container with the scarlet eyes in his hand, he gets an indescribable feeling.

This... this has a good shot at working. I just know it.

Alex then looks at the other items.

A shield... a sword... ceremonial armor... expensive clothes... paintings... more body parts... diamonds...

None of the items are above Purple Quality, but to his surprise, he spots a [Soul Crystal (Large)] lying between a set of expensive-looking jewelry.

That’s 500,000 FC! That’s a damn hefty reward... the eyes might be valuable, but using my Deep Gold item on a Deep Purple item... is it really worth it? I don’t think so. I refused the Suna Suna no Mi... why would I settle for a Deep Purple item now? Could the Bloodline end up more powerful and higher than Deep Purple? Possible... but... even so... I doubt it would be much higher.

Also, what would I gain? Even if it fully absorbs their bloodline and not just an inferior version of it, at most I’d be able to gain a temporary special state that improves my Hatsu... that would be quite effective, but my innate skill is incredibly stable. Adding an unstable factor that not only drastically drains my Aura but may also force me to pay a price, for example, my lifespan, doesn’t excite me. My Hatsu is useful because of its diversity. It doesn’t need to do anything else, especially if I can’t pick what effect it gains.

For some reason... I’ve just got a feeling that this isn’t it. This would be my one and only item-based Innate skill... I want something better... or am I just being greedy again? Should I choose them, in case I find nothing better? It’s a decent backup, I suppose... but is it worth 500,000 FC? I’m guessing at most 200... no, 100,000 FC.

He then looks back at the other items. Most of the others are useless to Alex, but still have valuable effects, such as the “Pricy Tag” and what Alex judges to be the superior version of the familiar trait, called “Universal Treasure,” promising a generous price at every knowledgeable merchant, regardless of the world he’s in.

While there are weapons and pieces of equipment... they’re merely expensive and not useful. Still, there are no items with a worse Quality than Blue. I guess Chrollo didn’t cheat me. I’m tempted to pick the scarlet eyes, but that would also... establish a connection between Kurapika and me... maybe Chrollo would doubt me later down the road. I can’t believe I’m doing this, but... I guess I just have to take... this!

Alex grabs the Large Soul Crystal and leaves, shocking Menchi, who quickly follows him.

You received Soul Crystal (Large)

A worthy price.

“Really?” Menchi asks him, looking a little confused.

“Yes... trust me,” Alex whispers back.

I trust my instinct; this is the best choice.

Returning after just a few minutes, Chrollo asks what he took.

“Just a large crystal... I guess it looked fairly expensive,” Feitan states.

“Acceptable,” Chrollo replies, not showing any judgment or reaction.

Time passes.

Having no justification or reason to leave, all Troupe members remain inside. They can neither call the outside world nor leave. Meanwhile, Jewel keeps staring at Hisoka without pause.

He is visibly upset by Princess Jewel’s surveillance. He knows what Princess Jewel is doing, but he can’t act out.

Princess Jewel enjoys this very much. ❤️

You love being a nuisance, don’t you?

❤️

However, just a few minutes later, Hisoka shocks everyone by walking up to Chrollo and the piece of rubble where their cellphones are lying.

“I need to leave... just for an hour or two, and I need my phone back ♦️,” Hisoka boldly states. “It’s a life-and-death matter. ♣️”

“Is that so?” Chrollo wonders. “Go ahead then... return as soon as possible.”

What the?!

Without another word, Hisoka disappears in a flash.

“What the fuck!” Alex can’t help but yell.

“Are you retarded?” he blurts out. “Obviously, he is a fucking traitor!”

“You... shut up!” Nobunaga yells at Alex, but his face also shows a great deal of doubt.

However, Feitan, Kortopi, and Bonolenov also look confused as Hisoka disappears without a trace, not backing up Nobunaga at all.

Pakunoda steps forward. “Boss... I trust you... but I can’t help but agree with Alex... this seems a little too obvious.”

“When he returns...” Chrollo quietly orders, “We’ll capture him, extract his thoughts, and then I’ll take his Hatsu... in exchange, he’ll get a long and calm life in my private hospital, where he can spend the rest of his life in a coma after removing a few parts of his brain. That way, we gain all the information we require. He can share a room with your last work, Feitan.”

“...”

He pauses, his eyes losing almost all light. “Consider Hisoka... permanently retired. If you can’t capture him, kill him on sight. I want him dead.”

He then turns to Alex and Jewel. “Another spot has just opened up. I’d love to welcome you two, Alex, Jewel. You have also impressed me, especially you, Alex, having Jewel survey him. You are far craftier than I thought. You pressured him into making a move early on. This makes things significantly easier.”

What the fuck? This isn’t supposed to happen... also, what did he say? Is that how he retains his stolen Hatsus? He... keeps them alive, but in a vegetative state?

Everyone stares at Chrollo, but also at Alex and Jewel, in absolute shock and surprise.

“This traitor...” Nobunaga mutters. “I just knew it. The spider... no, Jewel pressured him? Good job.”

“I’m gonna enjoy torturing this one...” Feitan mutters, his eyes incredibly cold, giving even Alex shivers.

“...”

“I propose a game...” Chrollo silently suggests. “Whoever captures or, in the alternative, kills Hisoka can ask for one thing. I promise to do my best to fulfill any request,” Chrollo offers.

[Secret Quest Offered:

Mission: Hunt and deliver Hisoka to Chrollo or alternatively, kill Hisoka and obtain and present proof of his demise to Chrollo.

Reward: ???

Failure Condition: Chrollo dies

Failure:]

Accept!

[Secret Quest Accepted]

I need to kill this bastard... that’s the only thing I’m gonna do. Catching him? Alive? No way.

Chrollo then gestures toward the phones, and everyone reclaims theirs.

“I need to make a call...” Alex says, stepping aside, though not too far away.

He quickly calls Benezia and relays the situation.

“... proceed. Your performance thus far is quite satisfactory,” he simply hears from Benezia, who ends the call within moments.

How... encouraging. About as encouraging as being promised an apple after getting your wisdom teeth pulled out. Aaah... I could go back into the other room and smash that desk into tiny pieces.

Alex then lies down on a piece of rubble and rests, calmly planning his next move, while Menchi sits down next to him, and Jewel rests on top of his chest.
