Farming in a Parallel World and Becoming a God
Chapter 2629 - 1142: Return to Colossus CityChapter 2629: Chapter 1142: Return to Colossus City
"Dwarf Gemstone Artisan? How far do your connections extend? It seems like you’ve had involvement in every line of work?"
"It’s just a coincidence. The Troll Mountains produce a gemstone called Regeneration Gem, which attracted those Dwarves to settle here.
We do want to forge our own complete industry chain, but there’s no need to reinvent the wheel for everything. For what already exists, use what needs to be used and integrate what needs to be integrated; there’s no need to completely exclude them."
"That’s only natural."
The rest of the journey was spent with the two of them engaged in such casual conversation, sparking countless flashes of inspiration.
Philancy possesses the highest level of Arcane Knowledge, able to interpret and implement Gaven’s numerous whimsical ideas through magic.
Gaven, on the other hand, commands a vast amount of human and material resources to provide material support for the former.
The two form a perfect closed loop.
By the time they came back to their senses, Colossus City was already within reach.
Philancy remarked with lingering excitement, "Should we blame the Mist Ship’s flight speed for being too fast, or is it the time that just flew by too quickly? I feel we haven’t fully delved into the topic yet!"
"Teacher, there’s plenty of time in the future if you want to discuss it further. First, let’s find a way to implement the Elemental Binding Device. Energy is the foundation of everything, and without stable energy support, it’s all empty talk." Gaven grasped the essence of the matter.
It’s also what could quickly yield results in a short time, relying on Philancy’s own magic foundation.
"After I tour Colossus City, I’ll get to work on this immediately," Philancy exclaimed, "I’ve heard of how extraordinary Colossus City is, but I didn’t expect it to be this different.
The name is truly deserved; those Dwarves are truly obsessed with colossal things, and only they would spend hundreds or even thousands of years to construct a city in the likeness of a statue."
Upon reaching Colossus City, the first thing that always catches one’s attention is the city presenting a crying Dwarf Statue.
In its presence, everything else appears so insignificant.
Especially when contrasted with the large and small Gnolls, everything seems grander and more awe-inspiring.
Colossus City resembles a giant, three-dimensional beehive; not only are countless Gnolls bustling around on the ground, but the sky is also filled with many black-winged Gnolls flying about.
Compared to Philancy, who was astonished by the fantastic scene before her, Gaven was immersed in comparing the changes in Colossus City.
The city itself hasn’t changed that much, or rather, from the outside, it’s impossible to see its transformation; even if there are changes, they are located within the mountain’s belly.
Every now and then, steam whistles would break the air, followed by loud roars and a massive spout of steam bursting out.
That’s a sign of the Dwarven forging production line working at full capacity after its reboot.
The greatest change in Colossus City is the situation in its surroundings.
It’s no longer standing alone but acts as a center, spreading out in all directions, like a spiderweb, filled with paths of various sizes.
Stretching fifty kilometers ahead of Colossus City into the Giant Plains, the land is divided into numerous sections, dotted with fortresses, half above ground, half underground, with varying numbers of Gnolls coming and going within.
The surrounding land has been completely cultivated, with traces of farming visibly clear.
Especially around those fortresses, neatly stacked are large quantities of straw and cornstalks, some truly astounding in size, particularly the cornstalks, almost like little trees.
Without a doubt, the self-sustaining food plan of Colossus City has already seen preliminary results.
"What are those Gnolls doing? Are they preparing to move?" Philancy curiously asked, pointing at the Gnolls in the fortresses.
They were busy packing bags of varying sizes into carts, showing signs of emptying the fortresses.
Some had even already packed up, driving oversized ox carts that were incredibly mismatched with their small body types, heading grandly toward Colossus City.
"The autumn harvest is complete; for the next three to four months, there won’t be much work here, and Gnolls, being cold-blooded, are heavily reliant on external heat. Staying outside means they would have to hibernate inside the fortresses.
Colossus City, however, is different. Not only is most activity indoors, but there’s ample geothermal heating, no less than summer.
In such conditions, Gnolls not only reduce their daily consumption but can also assist in other tasks. They’re particularly advantageous in those narrow, barren mines."
Despite having been away for a while, Gaven was as familiar with the state of affairs as ever, since he was the strategist behind everything.
"Even a Slave Master from Karinshan would have to bow before you," Philancy sighed, "You’ve practically squeezed every ounce of value out of these Gnolls."
Gaven did not agree with this, "If what they gain and what they contribute aren’t proportional, that would be exploitation.
But if, during this process, they receive the labor results they rightfully deserve, then it’s about creating a whole new lifestyle. See for yourself shortly."
"Master, is that really you? When the message just came in, I could hardly believe it. I didn’t expect you to have actually returned from the Bottomless Abyss."
As the Mist Ship approached Colossus City, a massive black figure eagerly came forward, expressively growling with excitement.
It was none other than the City Lord, Shanoba.
Though Gaven and Philancy were still aboard the Mist Ship, the entire top had already opened up like a convertible, and the speed had slowed down.
