Fat and Ugly Villainess Wins Back Her Five Beast Husband
Chapter 126: Capturing AceShe had looked at him for several seconds before closing the door.
Ace couldn’t understand it.
What’s going on?
Could she be nervous?
He considered the possibility.
Then his confidence slowly returned.
Perhaps his appearance had simply surprised her.
He looked down at himself.
Everything was neat.
His clothes were among the best he owned.
His hair was tidy.
His body had been freshly washed.
Maybe she had simply been stunned.
Ace’s lips curled slightly.
That had to be it.
He adjusted his collar.
Then he knocked again.
This time, his voice was deliberately gentle.
"Kaelira."
There was no response.
Ace waited.
Then he knocked once more.
"It’s me."
He paused.
"Open the door."
Inside, Sora stood motionless.
She had heard every word.
Her expression was complicated.
The system’s voice sounded again.
Host, this is your opportunity.
Sora sighed.
"I know."
She looked toward the door.
Ace was clearly waiting outside.
And unlike Xavier, who was possessive and aggressive, or Lukan, who was gentle and difficult to read, Ace had a completely different personality.
He was straightforward.
Practical.
Strong.
And surprisingly persistent when he had made up his mind.
Sora rubbed her forehead.
She had originally planned to take things slowly.
But the system had already presented the opportunity.
Maybe she should at least see what Ace wanted.
After all, she didn’t have to agree to anything simply because he had come.
She could always decide for herself.
With that thought, Sora finally reached for the door.
Outside, Ace’s expression immediately brightened when he heard movement.
The wooden door slowly opened.
Sora appeared behind it.
She looked at Ace carefully.
"Why did you come here so late?"
Ace’s eyes flickered.
He had prepared several words before coming.
Yet the moment he actually stood in front of her, all those carefully prepared sentences suddenly seemed unnecessary.
He looked at her quietly.
"I wanted to see you."
Sora blinked.
That was more direct than she had expected.
Ace’s gaze softened.
"And I wanted to talk to you."
Sora remained silent.
The system quietly chimed inside her mind.
Ding!
Strategy opportunity detected.
Sora’s lips twitched.
This system really won’t let me rest.
She stepped aside and opened the door wider.
"Come in."
Ace’s eyes immediately brightened.
He stepped inside.
Neither of them noticed the faint movement in the darkness farther away.
A pair of eyes silently watched the scene.
Xavier.
He had been passing nearby when he noticed Ace standing outside Sora’s home.
His expression immediately darkened.
His gaze shifted toward the open doorway.
Then toward Ace.
The snake’s eyes narrowed.
Again?
Hadn’t there already been enough males surrounding Sora?
And now Ace had come to her house at night?
Xavier’s jaw tightened.
He didn’t make a sound.
But the atmosphere around him became noticeably colder.
Inside, Sora was completely unaware of the silent observer outside.
She closed the door behind Ace.
Then she turned to face him.
"Now tell me."
Ace looked at her.
His normally calm expression became serious.
"I came because..."
He paused.
Sora waited.
Outside, the night wind moved through the trees.
Inside the small house, the distance between the two slowly disappeared.
And for Sora, what had begun as an unexpected interruption might just become the next step in her strategy.
* * * * *
Inside the room, Sora was still struggling with her decision.
She could hear Ace’s voice from outside, and the system’s increasingly impatient voice echoed in her mind.
Hurry up and open the door, Host! Why are you still hesitating? This is such a good opportunity! If Ace fails this time, his attraction and infatuation values may decrease!
Sora’s expression changed immediately.
Decrease?
Absolutely not!
She had spent so much effort raising those values. She couldn’t possibly allow all her previous hard work to go to waste because she hesitated at the last moment.
The decline of a capture target’s attraction and infatuation values could affect the entire strategy. If Ace’s values dropped, she would have to start over again.
Taking a deep breath, Sora finally made up her mind.
Fine.
She would do it.
So what if Ace’s outfit was a little difficult to look at?
At least his face was still handsome.
With that thought, Sora forced herself to put on a pleasant smile and walked toward the door.
She opened it.
"What are you doing here?"
The moment she looked at Ace, however, her smile almost collapsed.
What... was he wearing?
Sora stared silently.
Ace’s upper garment was made almost entirely of bright red feathers. The feathers had clearly been sewn together by hand, and their uneven texture made them flutter awkwardly whenever the wind passed.
The lower portion was made from white beast hide, which would have been perfectly normal on its own.
Unfortunately, Ace had apparently decided that white wasn’t colorful enough.
Blue kingfisher feathers were scattered across one side.
Yellow tiger hide had been sewn onto another.
There were pieces of blue bee hide, silver mouse skin, and even a particularly gray piece of wolf fur.
Every imaginable color seemed to have been thrown onto the same outfit.
The craftsmanship wasn’t much better.
The stitching was rough, uneven, and slightly crooked in several places.
Sora stared at him for several seconds.
If it weren’t for Ace’s handsome face, she might genuinely have mistaken him for some enormous, brightly colored bird that had accidentally fallen into a pile of animal skins.
How could a tiger have such terrible taste?
Previously, when she had seen some of the strange outfits made from bee hide and other materials, she had thought that was already the limit.
Apparently, she had been wrong.
That had merely been the beginning.
This was Ace’s true level.
Yet Ace himself seemed extremely pleased.
He raised an eyebrow, his handsome face carrying an unmistakably charming smile.
"So?" he asked confidently. "Are you mesmerized by my outfit?"
Sora’s lips twitched.
Mesmerized?
She was desperately trying not to laugh.
"I especially came here to see you."
Ace straightened proudly.
He had spent several days preparing this outfit.
He had carefully selected every color he could find, except black.
Sora didn’t like black.
Therefore, he had concluded that she must prefer bright and lively colors.
The more colorful, the better.
