Fat and Ugly Villainess Wins Back Her Five Beast Husband
Chapter 128: Caught in the ActSora stared at Ace’s face, deep in thought.
Unfortunately, her serious expression only made Ace even more confident.
He clearly interpreted her silence as fascination.
After all, he had spent several days preparing that outfit. He had carefully selected the most colorful feathers and animal skins he could find, convinced that Sora would be unable to resist such a striking appearance.
With that thought, Ace reached out, gently lifted Sora’s chin, and leaned down to kiss her.
Sora reacted immediately.
She raised her hand and blocked his lips.
Ace froze.
The confident smile on his face disappeared in an instant, replaced by a look of disbelief.
"You don’t want to kiss me?"
His voice carried an obvious trace of wounded pride.
Sora’s heart tightened.
This was not good.
She had almost forgotten that beastmen were particularly sensitive when it came to rejection. Being refused by a female could easily make a male feel that his appearance or charm had been rejected as well.
And she certainly couldn’t afford to let Ace’s feelings drop now.
Her mission was to capture him.
She had already gone through so much trouble to get this far. She couldn’t ruin everything because she couldn’t bring herself to look at his ridiculous outfit for another second.
Sora glanced toward the open doorway.
Only then did she remember another problem.
The position of her house was terrible.
When she had originally built it, she had only been thinking about having a place to cook and live. She had never expected several beastmen to build their own houses directly behind hers.
As a result, the doors of their houses faced almost directly toward hers.
Any movement outside her house could easily be seen.
If Xavier happened to notice Ace standing here with her, there was no telling what kind of trouble would follow.
That snake was already jealous enough.
Sora thought for a moment before grabbing Ace by the arm and pulling him inside.
She quickly shut the door behind them.
"No," she said, forcing herself to remain calm. "I just think it’s a little cold outside."
Ace’s expression immediately improved.
Clearly, he liked the fact that she had taken the initiative to pull him inside.
However, he wasn’t completely convinced by her excuse.
His lips curled into a teasing smile.
"Are you afraid of the cold? Or are you afraid someone will see us?"
Sora’s expression stiffened.
"It was a hot day today. How could it possibly be cold?"
Ace raised an eyebrow.
Sora had to admit that her excuse had been terrible.
But she wasn’t embarrassed.
She simply stepped closer and reached out to touch his face.
"Do you want to be disturbed?"
Ace caught her hand before she could pull it back.
He lowered his head and kissed her palm, a smug smile appearing on his face.
"I’m exceptionally gifted. Of course I’m not afraid."
His eyes narrowed playfully.
"It’s just that someone has thin skin and can’t handle it."
Sora stared at him.
This Tiger was confident both inside and out.
They hadn’t even done anything yet, but he was already acting as though he had absolute confidence in his abilities.
She rolled her eyes.
"Since you’re not afraid, then why don’t we go outside?"
Ace’s expression changed immediately.
"No."
He grabbed Sora’s hand, changed their positions, and pressed her gently against the wooden door frame before leaning down toward her.
"It’s better with just the two of us."
Sora’s lips twitched.
That was exactly what she had been waiting to hear.
The wooden house had almost no soundproofing. If anything happened inside, it would practically be the same as putting on a performance for Xavier, Lukan, Lucas, and the others.
She didn’t even want to imagine the consequences.
Not to mention that tomorrow morning, everyone would probably be looking at her strangely.
Sora raised one finger and placed it against her lips, blocking Ace’s kiss again.
Ace’s expression immediately darkened.
He stared at her with burning eyes.
"Kaelira."
His voice was lower this time.
"This is the second time you’ve stopped me from kissing you."
Sora’s heart skipped.
She had to calm this Tiger down.
She suddenly remembered something she had once read in a romance novel during the apocalypse.
To calm an angry beast, one had to stroke its fur in the right direction.
Although she wasn’t sure how effective that advice would be in real life, she had no better option.
Sora awkwardly raised her chubby hand and began drawing small circles against Ace’s chest.
Unfortunately, his chest was covered by those rough red feathers.
The feathers scratched lightly against her palm.
Sora almost wanted to retract her hand immediately.
But she endured it.
She couldn’t act too naturally.
If she suddenly showed disgust, her entire plan would collapse.
Lowering her voice, she said softly, "I just want to go somewhere else."
Ace’s anger disappeared almost instantly.
Her sudden initiative had worked surprisingly well.
Even through the strange feathered clothing, the touch of her soft hand against his chest made his body tense slightly.
He lowered his head and rubbed his cheek against her hand.
"A different place?"
He seemed genuinely curious.
"Where do you want to go? The grass? The flowers?"
He paused.
Then his gaze slowly traveled over her.
"You could also go up a tree."
Sora blinked.
Ace chuckled.
"But with your body, I don’t think you’d be able to hold on for long."
Sora’s eyes widened.
Up a tree?
This leopard really could think of anything.
If she actually tried to lie on a tree with Ace, would she even survive?
She ignored his ridiculous suggestion and continued with her original plan.
"Since I moved here, I haven’t been to your place."
Ace frowned.
"My wooden house?"
Sora shook her head.
"No. I mean the place you lived before."
The moment she said this, Ace understood.
"My cave?"
He looked at her for a moment before smiling.
"My cave is nice. If you want to go there, let’s go."
Sora secretly breathed a sigh of relief.
She had succeeded.
"I don’t want to walk," she added deliberately. "Can you take me there?"
The moment the words left her mouth, Sora felt slightly embarrassed.
Was she becoming a white lotus?
She had never imagined that one day she would have to act delicate just to manipulate a beastman into taking her somewhere private.
But this was an important mission.
She couldn’t afford to fail.
Ace obviously didn’t think there was anything strange about her request.
Instead, he gave her a light pat before wrapping his arms around her.
"You really are quite delicate."
Sora remained silent.
She felt that she absolutely needed to act delicate right now.
Otherwise, how was she supposed to convince this leopard to change locations?
Capturing a target wasn’t as easy as she had imagined.
Every step required careful planning.
One wrong move could ruin everything.
And the strangest part was that Ace was already one of her beastmen.
So why did she have to sneak around like this?
Sora sighed inwardly.
A moment later, Ace carried her away from the wooden house.
The scenery around them blurred as he moved quickly.
Before long, they arrived at his cave.
Ace’s dwelling was similar in structure to the caves used by some of the other beastmen, but there were noticeable differences.
Xavier preferred damp and cold places.
Ace’s cave, on the other hand, was much brighter, cleaner, and drier.
Sora had expected his cave to be just as outrageous as his clothing.
She had imagined walls covered with strange feathers, piles of colorful skins, and perhaps several ridiculous decorations matching that peacock-like outfit.
But when she entered, she was surprised.
The cave was simple.
And clean.
A neatly arranged bed made from dry grass occupied one side of the cave. A black beast-skin blanket had been carefully spread across it.
There were no unnecessary piles of belongings.
No mess.
No strange decorations.
Everything was orderly.
Although the cave hadn’t been occupied constantly, it was obvious that Ace maintained it regularly.
Sora looked around in surprise.
She hadn’t expected Ace to be such a clean person.
With his terrible taste in clothing, she had assumed his living space would be equally chaotic.
Apparently, she had been wrong.
Ace noticed her looking around.
"What?"
Sora shook her head.
"Nothing."
She continued observing the cave.
Ace stood nearby, watching her with an amused expression.
"So?"
Sora turned toward him.
"So what?"
"Do you like it?"
Sora hesitated.
She had to admit that the cave was much better than she had expected.
"It’s clean."
Ace’s eyebrows rose.
"Of course it’s clean."
He sounded slightly offended by her surprise.
"I don’t like dirty places."
Sora nodded seriously.
"That’s good."
Ace stared at her for a moment before slowly approaching.
Sora’s heart immediately began beating faster.
This was the moment.
She had deliberately brought him here because she needed privacy.
But now that she was actually alone with him, she suddenly realized how difficult the next step would be.
How was she supposed to capture him?
She couldn’t simply throw herself at him.
That would be too obvious.
And if she acted too deliberately, Ace might become suspicious.
She needed an opportunity.
A natural one.
Something that would allow everything to happen without seeming forced.
Sora was still thinking when Ace stepped closer.
His presence immediately became overwhelming.
She could feel the warmth radiating from his body.
She slowly raised her head.
Ace was looking at her.
His eyes were no longer playful.
They were focused entirely on her.
Sora swallowed.
She had to remain calm.
This was part of the mission.
She could do it.
She could definitely do it.
