The beast tamer who had gone on a long journey had returned.

The name sounded vaguely familiar to Sora. It seemed to belong to the beast husband she had not yet met, the one who had left the tribe long ago.

Has he returned already?

Remembering the original owner’s memories, Sora recalled that she had once driven Ryan away after recklessly using a Charm Fruit on him.

Just thinking about meeting him made her feel a headache coming on.

She had a feeling that his return would bring her nothing but trouble.

While Sora was quietly worrying, the other beast husbands were much more animated.

After delivering the news, Ace’s gaze drifted back to the popcorn in Xavier’s hands.

The fragrance was simply irresistible.

His eyes remained fixed on the snack.

Yet Xavier acted as though he noticed nothing, continuing to eat without offering a single piece.

Beside them, Lucas snorted.

"Forget it. I don’t even have any. Why would the newcomer get some?"

Hearing that, Ace shot Xavier a displeased look.

"Isn’t that a little stingy? I came all the way here to give you information, and you won’t even share one piece?"

"A warning?"

Xavier glanced at him lazily, amusement flickering in his eyes.

"Are you sure you didn’t come just to watch the show?"

Ace’s expression stiffened.

"What show?"

"What do you think?"

Xavier shrugged.

"Fine."

Ace admitted defeat.

He really had come partly to watch the chaos that Ryan’s return would bring.

Meanwhile, Lucas sat nearby drinking peanut porridge from his bowl.

The scent of popcorn kept drifting into his nose, making it impossible to ignore.

While Ace and Xavier bickered, he turned directly toward Sora.

"Do you need anything done today?"

He was already calculating.

If he completed an extra task, perhaps he could negotiate for a share of that popcorn.

After all, according to Xavier, it was sweet, fragrant, and incredibly delicious.

Seeing the usually rebellious proud phoneix acting so proactive, Sora couldn’t help laughing.

Who would have thought popcorn could tempt him this much?

She had made quite a lot.

Most of it had gone to Xavier, while she kept only a small portion for herself.

Given her current figure, she didn’t dare indulge too much in such a high-calorie snack.

Still, since someone was volunteering to help, she certainly wasn’t going to refuse.

Pointing toward the makeshift kitchen in the barren clearing, she said,

"I need a table, several chairs, and a shelter to keep off the rain. It’ll make cooking and eating much more convenient."

"I’ll collect some stones."

Lucas immediately volunteered.

After all, tables in the tribe were usually nothing more than large rocks or tree stumps.

However, Sora shook her head.

"No. I want proper wooden tables and chairs."

"Those stone ones are uncomfortable and too low."

She began explaining her plan.

"We can split large logs into planks and join them together. We don’t have nails, but wooden pegs or bamboo pins can be used instead."

Lucas blinked.

"Wood can be made into tables?"

The concept was completely new to him.

Sora nodded.

"Of course."

She continued counting on her fingers.

"A large dining table. A smaller cooking table. Maybe some storage shelves later."

Finding suitable trees wasn’t difficult.

The problem was processing the wood.

Thinking about it, Lucas glanced toward Ace.

"You come with me."

"What?"

Ace looked confused.

"When the table is finished, I’ll split my popcorn with you."

Lucas said it reluctantly.

He had originally hoped to earn an entire share for himself.

Now he would have to sacrifice half.

Although Ace had been focused on popcorn the entire time, he still understood exactly what was happening.

This was clearly Sora assigning work.

Maybe Lucas and Xavier enjoyed doing things for her.

He certainly didn’t.

That troublesome female had caused enough problems in the past.

There was no way he was going to cooperate so easily.

Without hesitation, he refused.

"I’m not going."

Lucas immediately shot him an irritated look.

Was this fool serious?

Did he really expect to eat delicious food without lifting a finger?

Once he tasted the popcorn, he’d understand how meaningless his pride was.

Hadn’t Lucas himself been exactly the same before?

Rolling his eyes, he turned back to Sora and extended a hand.

"Do you have any left? Give me one piece."

Sora immediately wagged a finger.

"No."

"No advance payments."

Rules were rules.

If she started handing out rewards before the work was done, nobody would take her seriously in the future.

Suppressing his frustration, Lucas frowned.

"Let me owe you."

Then he jerked his chin toward Ace.

"Give this lofty fellow one piece first. Deduct it from my share later."

This time, Sora looked genuinely surprised.

Why was he helping Ace?

Rarely explaining himself, Lucas muttered,

"Didn’t you say the wood needs to be split?"

"His claws are sharper than mine. He’s better suited for the job."

Understanding immediately, Sora smiled.

Without another word, she placed a warm golden piece of popcorn into Lucas’s hand.

The sweet fragrance drifted upward.

Yet before he even got to taste one himself, he had to give it away.

Although it looked light, Lucas could still feel its warmth and faint fragrance. Seriously, before he even had a chance to eat one himself, he had to give it to someone else.

When Lucas handed the popcorn to Ace, things became even more interesting. Ace felt he had never been so humiliated. To make himself feel better, he closed his eyes and accepted it, thinking, Let’s see if it’s really that good.

Ace looked at the dark hand offering the popcorn with slight disgust, thinking it looked dirty. Lucas couldn’t be bothered with his pickiness. Before Ace could react, Lucas shoved the popcorn directly into his mouth.

Ace yelped, about to curse Lucas, when the popcorn exploded with flavor on his tongue.

Sweet. Fragrant. Crispy.

It was a taste he had never experienced before.

His eyes instantly lit up.

Seeing Ace’s exaggerated reaction, Lucas knew exactly how much he had been pretending earlier. Eager to get his own share of popcorn as quickly as possible, Lucas grabbed Ace and dragged him forward.

"Can we get going now?" he asked.

Ace didn’t refuse.

"It’s delicious," he admitted. "No wonder Xavier doesn’t share it with anyone. If it were me, I’d have a hard time giving it away too."

Seeing the two leave, Xavier, still holding his pile of popcorn, followed behind them.

Lucas inhaled the aroma and found it even harder to resist. He shouted at Ace:

"Hurry up! Why are you dragging your feet? Don’t you want to eat?"

Then he shot Xavier a fierce glare.

"What are you showing off for? I’ll have some soon too."

Laughing, Xavier popped another piece of popcorn into his mouth with a loud crunch.

"Too bad you don’t have any right now."
