Looking closely, he saw a trace of blood on his tail, carrying a faint metallic scent. The culprit was none other than Sora, who stood frozen in front of him.

Sora’s face instantly flushed red. How had her period chosen to arrive at this exact moment?

The blood had even stained Ryan’s fish tail.

She silently swore she hadn’t done it on purpose. Who could have predicted everything would happen so perfectly... or rather, so disastrously?

Compared to the embarrassment of staining his tail, however, Sora was even more troubled by the fact that her period had started.

What was she supposed to do in the beast world?

There were no sanitary pads, and menstrual cups were obviously out of the question.

She felt completely helpless.

Panicking, she called out inwardly.

"System! System! I need your help! I got my period. Can you provide me with some sanitary supplies?"

The system replied calmly.

"Host, please remain calm. According to my analysis, this is an excellent opportunity to improve your relationship with the target. Therefore, the system will not provide assistance at this time."

Sora nearly exploded.

She was practically bleeding to death, and the system was talking about "good opportunities."

What kind of broken system was this?

Other people’s systems were like Doraemon’s pocket, producing whatever they needed.

Why was hers completely useless whenever it actually mattered?

Still, she only dared complain in her heart. If the system became unhappy and abandoned her, she would truly be finished.

Taking a deep breath, Sora tried to calm herself.

"Stay calm... Stay calm... You’ve survived the apocalypse. You can handle this too."

But no matter how she comforted herself, this was still a huge problem.

She couldn’t just let the blood keep flowing.

The thought of walking around in her leaf skirt while blood ran down her legs nearly made her collapse from embarrassment.

What was the difference between that and running around naked?

She didn’t even know how the women in this beast world handled menstruation.

Thinking carefully, she suddenly remembered reading in an ancient survival manual during the apocalypse that people once used reusable menstrual cloths.

Maybe she could make something similar.

Unfortunately, she didn’t have any fabric.

Cotton was impossible to find, but perhaps she could temporarily use plant ash as an absorbent.

After considering every option, she concluded that she would have to sew a simple pad using animal hide.

At least she had found a temporary solution.

But solving the problem later didn’t help her current predicament.

Ryan stared blankly at the dark-red blood on his tail, remaining motionless for a long time.

The metallic smell was unmistakable.

Yet beneath it lingered another unfamiliar fragrance that strangely stirred his instincts.

He frowned.

Could Kaelira have done something to affect him?

But this hot spring was one he had only discovered today.

She had arrived before him, so unless she could predict the future, there was no way she could have deliberately set a trap.

Another possibility crossed his mind.

He had once heard that some females released a unique scent during their monthly cycle, and in certain tribes that period was also associated with estrus.

His eyes drifted toward Sora.

Could she really be in heat?

Meanwhile, Sora’s mind was racing.

Should she simply swim ashore, put on her underwear, and ignore the blood until she could make a proper menstrual cloth?

No.

Ryan was standing right in front of her.

There was no way she could casually walk out of the water with her bare bottom exposed.

Even worse, she’d be bleeding.

A naked body combined with blood...

The image alone was enough to make her want to disappear.

She vigorously shook her head.

Absolutely not.

It would be far better if Ryan left first.

Once he was far enough away, she could quietly get out.

While she was desperately thinking of a solution, her eyes suddenly landed on Ryan’s fish tail.

At that exact moment, their gazes met.

Ryan was still uncertain, but when he noticed Sora staring at his tail, he quickly flicked it aside.

So it really is true, he thought.

Otherwise, why would she keep staring at the most beautiful feature of the merfolk?

Sora, however, had a completely different thought.

Her eyes lit up.

She had an idea.

"Ryan... your tail is dirty. I’m really sorry. Let me wash it for you."

Ryan’s expression immediately turned cold.

Realizing she truly intended to approach him, he swiftly swept away the blood with a flick of his tail before transforming it into a pair of long, fair legs.

Without another word, he swam toward the shore.

Seeing him leave, Sora breathed a sigh of relief.

Good.

Once he was far enough away, she could finally get out of the water.

But just as she was calculating her next move, she suddenly felt another warm rush.

The bleeding had become heavier.

"Oh no..."

At this rate, how was she supposed to leave the hot spring?

How could she possibly walk all the way back to the tribe to get her animal-skin skirt?

She would leave a trail of blood before she even made it halfway.

Sora felt incredibly unlucky.

After thinking it over, the safest place seemed to be right where she was.

She had already embarrassed herself in front of Ryan once.

What difference would one more embarrassment make?

Taking a deep breath, she called out to the retreating figure.

"Ryan... could you please go to my house and bring me two of my animal-skin skirts?"

Ryan stopped mid-step.

He slowly turned around, an expression of complete disbelief appearing on his usually cold face.

Why should I?

Sora hadn’t actually wanted to trouble him. Ryan disliked her enough already.

But what other choice did she have?

Steeling herself, she licked her lips and spoke softly.

"I don’t have enough animal-skin skirts. I can only ask for your help."

She planned to use one of the skirts as a temporary substitute for menstrual cloth, sewing it together near the hot spring.

After she spoke, Ryan remained silent.

The atmosphere grew awkward.

Sora knew she was asking for a lot, but she truly had no other option.

Seeing that he still refused to answer, she bit her lip before making up her mind.

"You wouldn’t want everyone in the tribe hearing that your mate wandered around bleeding during her period... would you?"

"That would be pretty embarrassing."

Ryan’s face instantly darkened.

Knowing Sora, she really was capable of doing something like that.

And if such news spread...

His expression became even colder.

"Wait here," he said curtly.

Sora blinked in surprise.

She hadn’t expected Ryan to actually agree.

She quickly added,

"Remember to bring the two skirts hanging on the left. Oh—and my bone needle and fish-gut thread too."

With those, she could sew a temporary menstrual cloth.

Ryan’s expression darkened even further.

Even so, he said nothing.

Without another word, he turned and left.

Sora guessed Ryan had understood exactly what she meant.

Otherwise, he wouldn’t have frozen for that brief moment.

Among all of her beast husbands, regardless of their different personalities, they shared one thing in common.

They all cared deeply about their reputations.

She had only intended to test him, never expecting it to actually work.

While waiting for Ryan to return, Sora hummed softly to herself.

She gently rubbed the Black Phoenix Fruit mask spread across her face before splashing warm water over it.

Activating her newly upgraded Level Three Water Ability, she used its cleansing function to draw impurities from her skin.

Soon, thick black grime began washing away.

She glanced at the dark residue floating on the water.

It didn’t look like ordinary mud.

Instead, it was as though years of hidden impurities had been pulled directly from beneath her skin.
