Sora had plenty of salt left, so she wasn’t in any hurry. The shortage wasn’t affecting her, so she calmly looked at Martin and said,

"We can go. But if you’re taking people, Father, it’s better to bring only a few instead of the entire tribe."

Martin looked at her in surprise.

His daughter had truly become much more thoughtful.

Curious, he asked, "Why do you think so?"

Sora explained patiently,

"If too many people go at once, it’s easy to attract the attention of neighboring tribes. We can carry back a small amount each trip. If we need more, we’ll simply return later. It’s much safer that way."

Martin nodded in approval.

"You’re right. If word spreads about the salt well, other tribes will inevitably fight us for it."

He paused before continuing,

"I’ve already sent your brother, Mark, to the city-state to purchase salt as usual. Whatever else we need, we’ll gather ourselves from the salt well."

As expected of the tribe leader.

He immediately understood the risks after hearing only a few sentences and had already prepared a backup plan.

Sora couldn’t help but admire Martin a little more.

Lukan, who sat quietly beside them, was equally surprised.

He hadn’t expected Sora to think that far ahead.

After a moment of silence, Martin began considering who should accompany them.

Martin spoke up softly.

"Choose only the strongest warriors. Go quickly and return quickly. That way it’ll be difficult for anyone else to notice."

Lukan nodded.

"Very well."

Martin turned toward Sora.

"You’ll bring a few of your beast husbands. I’ll also send several of the tribe’s fastest wolf warriors with you."

"Understood."

Early the next morning, Sora departed with her five beast husbands and several wolf warriors from the tribe.

Since Damien was an outsider, he wasn’t allowed to accompany them. The location of the salt well was one of the tribe’s greatest secrets.

Just as before, Sora chose to ride on Lukan’s wolf form.

His broad back had given her the smoothest ride during the previous trip, making him her obvious first choice.

Lucas, Xavier, and Ace all wore rather unpleasant expressions.

Xavier’s emerald eyes darkened.

She chose Lukan again.

This couldn’t continue.

If things kept going like this, Lukan would always have the advantage.

He needed to think of another way.

Ace was equally surprised.

Was Lukan’s back really that comfortable?

Why did Sora always choose him?

His tiger form was agile and powerful. Surely it wasn’t inferior to a wolf.

Lucas couldn’t understand it either.

His massive phoenix form had thick, soft feathers and was far more comfortable to sit on.

Didn’t Sora have any sense of appreciation?

Completely unaware of the silent competition brewing behind her, Sora sat comfortably on Lukan’s back while carefully watching the surrounding forest, making sure no members of other tribes were nearby.

Just then, Xavier suddenly darted ahead and blocked Lukan’s path.

Looking up at Sora, he said,

"It’ll be tiring traveling like this the whole way."

"Let’s switch."

"Ride on my back instead."

Sora blinked in surprise.

"Huh?"

"Why is Xavier being so proactive today?"

Before she could answer, Ace stepped forward.

"Why don’t you ride on me?"

"My fur is softer."

Sora became even more bewildered.

"Huh?"

"What’s gotten into everyone today?"

"Why are they suddenly competing over something like this?"

Not wanting to lose either, Lucas flicked his magnificent tail and smiled confidently.

"You should ride on me."

"I’ll be the most comfortable."

Lukan looked at the three males blocking his path in astonishment.

He pursed his lips.

He wanted to say it wasn’t necessary.

The wolf warriors following behind burst into laughter.

"Kaelira!"

"You’re really popular!"

"Come on, choose one."

"Tell us which beastman you like the most!"

Sora’s face twitched helplessly.

"Can you all stop talking nonsense?"

"They’re only making things difficult for me."

The moment the wolf warrior finished speaking, every beastman turned toward Sora at the same time.

Purple...

Blue...

Light brown...

Crystal-clear silver...

Emerald green...

Pairs of beautiful eyes locked onto her simultaneously.

Each color alone was incredibly attractive.

But with all of them staring at her together, Sora suddenly felt a chill crawl down the back of her neck.

How was she supposed to answer that?

As far as transportation was concerned, she honestly didn’t have a favorite.

She simply chose whichever ride was the most comfortable.

To her, choosing who carried her had nothing to do with preference. It was simply a matter of who offered the most comfortable ride.

But she couldn’t possibly say that aloud.

If she blurted out, "I just choose whoever is the most comfortable," these proud beastmen would definitely overthink it. Wouldn’t that sound like she was criticizing everyone else’s beast forms?

After spending time with them, Sora had already realized something.

Every beastman was incredibly proud of his animal form.

Their fur, scales, feathers, speed, strength—those weren’t just physical traits. They were a source of pride.

If she accidentally insulted them now, wouldn’t their affection toward her plummet?

Sora, think... Think carefully...

She was still searching for the right words when the werewolves watching the drama refused to give her any more time.

One of them burst into laughter.

"What’s wrong, Sora? Is the choice really that difficult?"

"You’ve been thinking for so long."

He glanced at Lukan before grinning mischievously.

"Looks like Kaelira likes Lukan the most."

"Otherwise, why would she keep choosing to ride on his back?"

Sora shot him a sharp glare.

This loudmouth...

The next time they came to transport salt, she was definitely asking Martin to leave this guy behind.

His teasing only made things worse.

Immediately, four pairs of eyes fixed on her even more intensely.

Sora sighed inwardly.

There was no avoiding an answer now.

After thinking it over, she decided to tell the truth—but not the whole truth.

Looking at the four beastmen, she smiled gently.

"Lukan runs very steadily."

"I rode on his back last time, and it was very comfortable."

"So I naturally chose him again."

Her explanation instantly shifted the meaning.

She wasn’t saying Lukan was her favorite.

She was saying he was simply the steadiest mount.

The tense atmosphere relaxed almost immediately.

Ace was the first to speak.

His fluffy silver tail swayed lazily behind him as he looked at her.

"Then climb onto my back."

"I promise I’ll run steadily this time."

He knew exactly why she hadn’t enjoyed riding with him before.

Back then...

He had disliked her.

Naturally, he’d paid no attention to whether she was comfortable or not.

Now things were different.

His feelings toward her had changed completely.

He wanted her to have the best experience possible.

Seeing Ace volunteer, Xavier immediately stepped forward.

"I can run steadily too."

His sapphire eyes shone with determination.

"I won’t let you feel a single bump."

Lucas wasn’t about to lose.

He spread his magnificent wings with obvious pride.

"I can fly very smoothly."

"The wind isn’t strong today."

"You’ll be much more comfortable riding with me."

Ryan merely watched from the side without saying a word.

He had no interest in joining their competition.

As a sea beastman, he knew perfectly well he couldn’t compete with land beasts when it came to carrying someone across the forest.

Besides...

He honestly couldn’t understand them.

Have they all gone crazy?

Why were they fighting over carrying one female?

Especially one who had once been the tribe’s most disliked woman.

Ryan simply couldn’t comprehend it.

Wasn’t living peacefully by yourself much easier?

Why willingly invite trouble?

Meanwhile, Lukan looked at Sora calmly.

"I’m not tired."

"If you’d still like to ride with me..."

"...that’s fine."

Sora knew he meant well.

But she’d already ridden on his back for quite a while.

Making him carry her the entire journey didn’t seem fair.

Besides, the other three were staring at her as though their lives depended on her answer.

It was probably time to switch.

That would let Lukan rest...

...and keep everyone else satisfied.

She glanced around.

Ace, Xavier, and Lucas happened to be standing shoulder to shoulder.

Without overthinking it, Sora casually pointed toward the nearest one.

"Then..."

"I’ll ride with Ace first."

"When he gets tired, I’ll switch to someone else."

The moment those words left her mouth, Ace’s silver eyes brightened noticeably.

Xavier and Lucas exchanged glances.

Since Sora had already said she’d rotate between them, there was no longer any reason to argue.

Each of them would eventually get his turn.

Satisfied, the three finally stopped competing, and the group resumed its journey toward the hidden salt spring.
