Fated love: the unwanted bride

Chapter 2489: CEO Caddel, Lend Me a Cigarette

Seeing her drinking, Will Caddel didn’t stop her and drank his own glass of red wine.

The room was lively, and sometimes Will would chat casually with Jasmine Yale.

"Not going up to sing a song?" he squinted slightly.

Jasmine Yale laughed, "It would scare everyone."

"You’re too quiet."

"Really? Is CEO Caddel trying to say that my personality is not suited for this kind of outgoing work? Actually, people change. I’m just a slow starter, but once familiar, I’ll change."

"Oh?" Will Caddel raised an eyebrow, "Then I can’t quite imagine what you’re like when you’re lively."

In his eyes, Jasmine Yale was very calm, very gentle, different from the marketing department, and even many other girls.

Jasmine Yale glanced at the lighter by his hand, "CEO Caddel, lend me a cigarette, please."

"Want a smoke?"

"Mm."

"Have you smoked before?"

"Have you smoked before?" Jasmine Yale muttered in a daze. She couldn’t remember, it seemed she did when she was being tipsy.

Will Caddel chuckled and put away the lighter, "Girls shouldn’t smoke, it’s bad for your health."

"You men always have so many reasons; you understand them well, yet why can you smoke from morning till night? Don’t tell me it’s for work."

"Smoking just improves work efficiency."

"Still blaming it on work..." Jasmine Yale was dissatisfied with his answer, "I have to work too, why can’t I smoke? Is there such a big difference between men’s and women’s body structures?"

Will Caddel didn’t expect her to argue back like this, "Don’t women usually pay a lot of attention to maintaining their health? Smoking is bad for the skin."

"Is that so?" Jasmine Yale was somewhat coaxed by him, her eyes sparkling, "But smoking can be exhilarating. It’s supposed to feel quite wonderful, isn’t it?"

"Books have deceived you."

"Why don’t you just give me one to try?" Jasmine Yale looked at him with anticipation.

Will Caddel shook his head, a faint smile at the corner of his lips, "I don’t do that kind of thing."

"I won’t make you responsible, just lend me one..." Jasmine Yale was probably a bit tipsy, starting to pester.

A long time ago, when she couldn’t get what she wanted, she would do this too.

But later, she understood a principle that time washes away all desires; the things you can’t get, gradually you stop wanting. Even if you can get them later, they no longer have the initial freshness and excitement.

But that’s not good either; after a long time, you become a person without desires.

Being desireless is actually a pretty scary state.

Will Caddel laughed, picked up an orange-flavored candy from the table and put it in her hand, "Alright, stop it, hmm, have a piece of candy."

"Don’t want it."

Will Caddel unwrapped the candy, reaching out his hand, "Eat it, if you eat the candy, you won’t feel like smoking. The taste of smoke can’t compare to the candy."

Will Caddel’s hand reached over.

Jasmine Yale lowered her gaze, looking down at the orange juice candy in his palm.

She obediently ate it.

The candy was sweet, melting in her mouth.

It was delicious, leaving a sweet aftertaste.

Will Caddel gazed at her, tiny sparks glistening in his eyes, the corners of his lips always holding a slight upward curve. In the flickering light, he appeared strikingly handsome.

The room was very lively, the noise chaotic.

The singers swapped one after another, the songs changed one after another.

As the drink flowed, some people started playing dice and cards, the atmosphere not unlike a KTV back home.
