Fated love: the unwanted bride
Chapter 2526: Barefoot, Step by Step Escaping the CorridorJasmine Yale grabbed Erin Janus’s wrist. She knew Erin was pregnant and placed a lot of importance on the baby in her belly, so she wouldn’t dare fight her.
"Erin, watch your tone. Stop following me. I told you, if you’ve got the skills, keep an eye on your husband. Let me tell you, I don’t want to see him either."
Erin’s hand was pinched painfully by Jasmine, and her face was dark: "Jasmine Yale, look at yourself now, I really want to drag you out and tell everyone this woman seduces other people’s husbands!"
From this close, the bite marks on Jasmine’s neck stung Erin’s eyes.
"If you’re not ashamed, then drag me over. I don’t care, but the Janus family’s young lady does value her reputation, doesn’t she?"
"You, you!" Erin was trembling with anger, glaring at Jasmine, "I’ve never seen a woman as shameless as you!"
Jasmine turned sideways and released her hand: "Don’t bother me again."
With that, she walked out of the restroom in big strides.
The oppressive atmosphere in the restroom made her very uncomfortable, especially seeing Erin, it made her even more uncomfortable.
What she disliked most about Sylvan Cheney was that he was very attractive to women. Indeed, a man like him had the capital; even in old age, he’d still be liked by someone.
But she was so tired, carrying unwarranted notoriety since she was a teenager, it’s really exhausting.
Jasmine’s high heels had long been left in the suite, and now, she was barefoot, fleeing down the corridor step by step.
Fortunately, it was early summer, so despite being barefoot, she didn’t feel cold at all.
She used to love running barefoot at home, feeling so free, but now, being barefoot gave her a chilly sensation from the soles to her heart.
She kept running, following places where there were no people.
Looking like this, she couldn’t face anyone.
Running out of the lounge, she unexpectedly found it was raining outside when she reached the secluded corridor.
Summer rains always come unexpectedly.
It was still fine weather when she came over in the evening, yet now it was raining.
The rain wasn’t light, like a thunderstorm, with the sky gloomy and dark, chaotic raindrops falling to the ground, the ground unable to drain it quickly, forming puddles.
The wind blew towards the doorway, lifting Jasmine’s disheveled hair.
She squinted slightly, standing under the eaves, watching the torrential rain outside the window.
The sound of rain was loud, a lightning bolt sliced through the sky, followed by roaring thunder, one after another.
Every time the thunder sounded, Jasmine’s heart would leap with a sudden thump.
She was afraid of thunder.
Rain splashed on her face; she felt a bit bewildered... her eyes showed a blank and slightly dazed light, with little color on her face.
When she was about eleven or twelve, she was very mischievous, loving the thrill of running in the rain wearing sandals in summer—the ankle submerged in the cool water, splashes everywhere, it had its special joy.
The weather back then was just like now, rainy and windy, but it was daytime and without thunder.
She wore an adorable little raincoat, skipping and jumping into the rain.
The Cheney Residence was large; she chose places where there were no people, like the backyard or the observation deck.
Going where nobody was, she was less likely to be discovered. She could play freely, stand in the rain watching goldfish, or pick up fallen blossoms.
A child’s joy was simple, a little fish blowing bubbles could mesmerize her; with her chin resting in her hands, she was immersed in it, completely forgetting it was still raining.
