Fated love: the unwanted bride

Chapter 2528: Extremely Angry Tone

After hesitating for a moment, she looked up, silently watching the heavy rain outside.

The rain showed no sign of stopping anytime soon.

There were tall trees by the roadside, but no tree, however tall, could shelter her from the wind and rain. Even so, Jasmine Yale had no choice.

She could only leave now while no one was around to go home.

There were only a few sporadic streetlights on the side of the road, not very bright, with the light turning into circles of halos in the rain. The water on the road glistened with silvery light under the street lamps.

The thunder subsided, but the rain did not.

Jasmine Yale hardened her heart, covering her head with her hand, and quickly ran into the rain.

Her bare feet stepped into the water, feeling very cold.

This downpour soaked her entirely in no time, with rain streaming down her hair onto her neck, arms, and all over her body.

Fortunately, it was early summer; a little rain wouldn’t make her too cold.

Jasmine Yale ran through the rain, the splashes on the ground showing the rhythm of her running.

Under the streetlight, her hair was completely wet. She didn’t know where one of her earrings had gone; she looked utterly drenched. Her arms couldn’t cover the torrential rain, as her entire body and face were covered with water that she couldn’t wipe away.

The rain was cold, but the droplets by her eyes were warm.

Halfway through, she suddenly stopped, lifted her head, and gazed at the road ahead.

The road was so long, seemingly endless under the oppressive dark sky.

She stood there for a long time until the rain numbed her, taking away all sensation.

The rain soaked through her dress, one she bought with half a month’s wages. This was only the second time she wore it.

But now, the dress was smeared with rain and mud, impossible to wear again.

She looked down in distress, her hands clutching the hem of her dress.

A very pretty dress, one she had carefully chosen in the store. When she first saw it, she considered giving up because it was too expensive, but eventually, she bought it.

The dress, drenched by the rain, felt heavy. She lifted it and began to walk step by step towards the roadside.

"Jasmine Yale! Are you crazy?!" Suddenly, Will Caddel’s voice rang out!

At first, Jasmine Yale thought she was hearing things since Will Caddel was still at the banquet.

"Jasmine Yale!" He called her several times, running through the rain in his dress shoes, umbrella in hand!

This time, Jasmine Yale clearly heard him.

In the rain, she turned her head.

Her gaze landed right on Will Caddel.

He stepped through the puddles toward her, his well-defined face softened by the gentle light and clear rain, yet there was anxiety, tension, and turmoil in his eyes!

He quickly ran a few steps, catching up with Jasmine Yale, swiftly covering her head with the umbrella and taking off his suit jacket.

"Jasmine Yale, have you lost your mind, running out here in this downpour alone?" For the first time, Will Caddel reprimanded Jasmine Yale in such an infuriated tone.

He shoved the umbrella into her hands and draped his suit jacket over her shoulders, buttoning it for her.

Seeing her face covered in rain, he pulled out a handkerchief to quickly wipe her face.

His fingers involuntarily followed the line of her cheek down to her neck.

Will Caddel’s hand paused slightly, his gaze lingering on the numerous kiss marks on her neck for a few seconds before averting his eyes, pretending he hadn’t seen anything.

"Didn’t you say you were going to the lounge? Why did you come out here alone? Why didn’t you call me?" Will Caddel asked a flurry of questions.
