Fated love: the unwanted bride

Chapter 2554: Sylvan Cheney Is Still the Same

After dinner, Jasmine Yale went downstairs to take a walk alone.

She enjoyed summer nights when fireflies danced around, romantic and fresh.

Around seven or eight o’clock, Justin Usama called her again.

Jasmine Yale talked on the phone as she walked.

"I heard there’s a meteor shower tonight around nine. If you’re not asleep, you could take a look."

"So you called me especially for this?"

"Well... Was I bothering you?"

"No, no, I quite like stars, but I always feel meteors symbolize fading away, so I rarely go out of my way to watch them. Of course, if I happen upon them, I will make a wish."

"You have to think that not everything that fades away is good. Many unpleasant things can disappear, isn’t that a good thing?"

"Can it be like this?"

"It can, of course, you should make a wish upon a meteor and let it take away the unpleasant things and make the good things even better."

"Don’t you think this is something only children do? When I used to make wishes, people always said it was childish. Actually, when I was young, I liked it quite a bit. My mom always told me that wishing upon a meteor could come true. But later, nothing came true, and I stopped making wishes."

"Often, making a wish is just a longing and hope. It’s wonderful if it comes true, but even if it doesn’t, the process is beautiful. The act of wishing is a journey of aspirations and hopes..." On the other end, Justin Usama’s voice was calm and gentle.

Jasmine Yale walked with her head down, holding the phone and listening to him, feeling quite comfortable.

"Hey!" Jasmine Yale suddenly bumped into someone in front of her and quickly raised her head, "Sorry, sorry."

It might have been better not to look up, because when she did, she was stunned.

"You..." Jasmine Yale’s face was full of amazement, her eyes were glowing, unclear.

Her steps came to a halt, and her voice also ceased abruptly.

The gentle wind blew over her, bringing a strange feeling.

On the other end, Justin Usama was still talking; Jasmine Yale lowered her voice and said softly, "I’ll hang up now."

The street lamp stretched Sylvan Cheney’s shadow long, dressed in a white shirt, black trousers wrapped around his slender figure. Under the night sky, his well-defined face appeared deeper and steadier.

He pursed his lips, his silent gaze fixed on Jasmine Yale’s face, without speaking, just watching her.

Jasmine Yale slightly raised her head, the astonishment in her eyes gradually fading, replaced by calmness.

She didn’t speak, nor did he; he just watched her.

Jasmine Yale didn’t know what he was looking at, feeling somewhat unsure, not even knowing where to put her hands.

He rarely stared at her like this without saying a word.

The evening wind blew against Jasmine Yale’s forehead, she took a few steps back.

Sylvan Cheney looked the same as ever, not much change except he seemed a bit thinner.

In more than half a year, they had only met a few times; each time, he was the one to seek her out. This time, it was the same.

As he remained silent, Jasmine Yale spoke, "Did you... come to find me?"

"Is there anyone else here for me to find?" He finally spoke, slightly withdrawing his gaze.

"Is there something up?"

"Nothing."

"Oh, I’ve been out for quite a while. I should head back now." After saying that, Jasmine Yale prepared to turn around.

Just as she was about to turn, Sylvan Cheney called her, "Who was the man who brought you back today?"

"How’s it any of your business?" Jasmine Yale laughed, "Your question is quite interesting."
