Xiao Lang was like this, she wasn’t reassured enough to leave; she had to see Di Sheng return before she dared to leave.
Li Mingxi stood at the door, monitoring the surveillance camera.
She didn’t wait long before the elevator doors opened, and someone arrived.
It wasn’t Di Sheng who arrived, but Wen Ning—
Li Mingxi widened her eyes in surprise; it was actually Wen Ning!
Wen Ning was carrying a small bag with some medicine bottles inside. She entered the password, opening the door directly and went inside.
The door closed behind her, but Li Mingxi remained dazed for a long time.
She never imagined that the one taking care of Xiao Lang was Wen Ning.
Li Mingxi couldn’t quite articulate her feelings—jealousy, envy, discomfort.
But eventually, these emotions transformed into cold indifference.
Wen Ning and Xiao Lang interacting, Xiao Lang might very well come to like her, which would be a good thing.
As long as Xiao Lang could forget her, whoever he ended up with didn’t matter anymore.
After thinking this way, Li Mingxi felt much better inside.
She stood for a while, then gently opened the door and left...
...
Once Wen Ning returned, she noticed that Xiao Lang’s complexion had improved significantly.
He was covered with a blanket, lying quietly.
Wen Ning quickly sensed something amiss in the room; a glass of water on the bedside table, which she hadn’t placed there.
And the temperature of the air conditioner had changed.
However, Wen Ning presumed that these changes were Xiao Lang’s doing.
Once sure that Xiao Lang was alright, Wen Ning didn’t disturb him and instead went to make him some porridge.
Xiao Lang slept for several hours and was a bit disoriented when he opened his eyes.
Seeing the familiarity of the room, he quickly realized he was in his own home.
But how did he get back here?
It seemed like Wen Ning had brought him back.
Xiao Lang propped himself up, the blanket sliding off, and he realized his shirt had been completely unbuttoned, leaving him rather disheveled.
However, Xiao Lang wasn’t in the mood to tidy himself up.
He thought about a dream of a kiss, a kiss that made his heart immensely comfortable.
Though he had been too drunk to be aware, his heart was convinced that the kiss had been given by Li Mingxi.
Did Li Mingxi come?
Xiao Lang couldn’t help but feel a bit of anticipation. He hurried to get out of bed, coincidentally as the bedroom door opened.
"Brother Xiao, you’re awake!" Wen Ning entered and upon seeing him awake, she showed a brilliant smile.
Seeing it was her, unnoticeably, a trace of disappointment flashed across Xiao Lang’s eyes.
"Did you bring me home?" he asked.
Wen Ning nodded, "Yes, I saw you were too drunk, so I didn’t leave."
"You stayed the whole time?"
"Yeah. Brother Xiao, I made some porridge for you, you should have a bit."
"Thank you. I want to freshen up first."
Wen Ning sensibly stepped out, "I’ll be waiting outside."
Xiao Lang took his change of clothes and went to shower in the bathroom.
Half an hour later, he emerged, refreshed, yet with a hint of melancholy still lingering between his brows.
Wen Ning had placed the porridge on the dining table and served him a bowl.
"Brother Xiao, come eat." She called out expectantly.
Xiao Lang had no appetite, but he couldn’t refuse her hospitality.
"Wen Ning, thank you for today," Xiao Lang approached and expressed his gratitude, "It’s getting late now; I’ll have someone take you home."
Wen Ning knew he was urging her to leave; she felt a pang of sadness inside.
"Finish the porridge, then I’ll leave."
Xiao Lang nodded, "Alright."
He pulled out a chair and sat down; the porridge in front of him emitted a pleasant fragrance, with a slight burnt smell mixed in.
