Fated To Three, And I Broke Them All

Chapter 290-Back When They Called Me Fat

A Few Hours Ago.

Verity:

"What’s going on?" I asked the maids outside the left wing.

They all seemed pretty anxious, standing around Lady Lucille’s room and holding trays of food.

"Lady Lucille is being difficult again," one of the maids said, making me frown at her.

"You do realize she’s the Alpha King’s grandma, right?" I said to the maid, reminding her not to use certain words for an old lady who was definitely going through some stuff.

And I knew that because even last night, when I was in Ragnar’s room, she had stayed awake the whole night before coming to his room to find comfort.

But knowing the history between the two, I could already tell Ragnar had dismissed whatever worries she had.

"Give me the tray," I said as I took the breakfast tray out of the maid’s hands.

I knocked on the door, then asked one of the maids to knock again.

"I said I don’t want to eat," Lady Lucille called from inside.

The maids shared a glance and stifled their laughter. They only stopped when I gave them a harsh glare.

"Go. I’ll take care of it," I said to the maids, who walked away whispering and murmuring.

"Lady Lucille, it’s me, Verity. I also need to speak with you about Jenna’s mate ball," I called, my fingers curling around the tray.

"Come in," she called after giving it some thought.

I had to balance the tray on one hand while opening the door.

The minute I stepped in, I found a very distraught old lady sitting against her bed’s headboard, with all the windows in her room open.

"Good morning," I said, even though it was way past morning.

I put the tray down and decided to sit with her while I buttered some toast for her.

"You’re not eating lunch. It’s lunchtime," I joked.

But when I lifted my head, I noticed the old lady staring outside one of the windows all the way from her bed, looking really upset and low.

"Is everything okay?" I asked, watching her force her eyes back to me.

"When you grow old, people just toss you aside. It’s like everything you say is an exaggeration."

I didn’t know why, but her words cut deep.

"Well, that’s not only for old people," I commented, watching her frown at me. "Omegas go through the same thing. Nothing they say is ever trusted. It’s always just an exaggeration."

I remembered how none of my complaints had ever been met with justice.

Flashback.

"What the fuck?" Julia asked once we were at my home.

I was still shaking from the encounter with Oliver and his father.

I buried my face in my hands and started to bawl in front of her.

"Hey, come on, relax," Julia said, wrapping an arm around me and rubbing my arm, trying to comfort me.

"I feel so dirty," I said to her as I stood in the corner of my house.

Even stepping into the rooms felt wrong, and the house did not seem like a place that belonged to me or that I belonged to it.

"What they did to you was really wrong," Julia said, holding my hand as she dragged me over to the couch and sat me down.

"My life is over. People are gonna hate me now," I commented, sniffling and crying.

"No, that’s not gonna work. We’re gonna complain."

Julia had only said that when I looked up at her with teary eyes.

"Complain to who?" I questioned, watching her bite her bottom lip. "You think the Alpha King brothers care? You think I care about what they think?"

I could feel the rage inside me starting to bubble like lava.

"Well, the least we can do is file a complaint. Let me do that, please," Julia insisted.

I don’t know why I let her do it, even though I didn’t want any kind of justice from the Alpha King brothers. But I wanted to know how low they could stoop.

Within the next few minutes, we arrived at the Alpha King mansion.

Julia was really angry, but the sad part was that she was just like me: naive, innocent, and shy. I didn’t want her to get on bad terms with the Alpha Kings.

When we arrived at the mansion, it looked like they were already having a party.

The warrior tols Julia that the two Alpha King brothers, Jaguar and Alpha King Theodore, were throwing it for someone dear to them.

"Come on. We’ll sneak inside, and if we find either of the brothers, we’ll speak with them, okay?" Julia said as she held my hand tightly.

I nodded and followed closely behind her as she led me through the crowd.

There were a lot of people in the mansion, and of course, it was a bougie party, more like a nightclub.

Music blasted through the place, and disco lights flashed around us.

Whatever they were celebrating just seemed wrong.

The whole cab ride there, I had been preparing a speech for the Alpha King brothers.

I was going to tell them what they had done to my brother was wrong and how, because of it, I had been assaulted and harassed by others.

I was going to name Mr. Gavin. I was going to name Oliver.

I was going to tell them everything, and I was determined to do it.

"Okay, you stay here!" Julia asked as we reached the second floor and she pushed me behind a pillar.

’I mean, a pillar wouldn’t be able to hide me.’

That was what I heard from one of the women walking past as she looked me up and down.

This didn’t seem like a regular party the Alpha Kings would host.

There were no gowns or anything like that. Many of the women were dressed in teeny-tiny skirts.

After a while, Julia returned and pointed down the hall.

"Let’s go to alpha King Theodore’s room,"

My heart skipped a beat because I knew that room. I remembered it clearly.
