Fated To Three, And I Broke Them All
Chapter 292-His Girlfriend Controls HimVerity:
"Thank you so much. I knew I could trust you. I could rely on you."
It was a very familiar voice coming from the bedroom, alone with Jaguar.
"Now, are you happy, Gigi?"
As Jaguar said that, my heart skipped a beat.
I looked through the cracked door and felt like my entire existence shook.
She was sitting on his lap, her hand on his bulge while he drank.
All I could think was, what the fuck was I watching?
End of flashback.
"Tell me what’s bothering you," I asked Lady Lucille, watching her pout as her lips almost began to quiver. It was unintentional. She wasn’t trying to be dramatic.
"That poor child Jenna is bothering me."
The minute she said Jenna’s name, something struck me. It reminded me of myself.
When my brother had been going through a lot, I had suffered just like Lady Lucille and felt completely miserable.
"I went to ask my grandsons for help, and they said she’s busy studying. That’s why she’s acting weird."
As Lady Lucille said that, I let out a laugh, watching her narrow her eyes at me.
"People don’t always believe that what you’re dealing with is real. They think it might just be a delusion," I commented, clicking my tongue. "And the Alpha King brothers are too busy to believe in sentiments."
I didn’t know why that had slipped from my lips.
I didn’t want to come across as someone who had a problem with the Alpha King brothers, but let’s be honest.
I had gone to them with my problems too, and every time, they had dismissed me.
It was funny how easy it was to access them now.
I could send an empty message, and they would be outside my door.
But it hadn’t been like that before.
I had stepped into their mansion and even their bedrooms, seeking help, only for them to dismiss me over and over again because I wasn’t attractive enough.
It was also because they had been at a point in their lives where all they did was drink and indulge themselves, drunk on power.
"About Jenna," I said, changing the subject. "I’ve noticed she’s been very dull."
Lady Lucille looked up at me with much more anticipation.
"And I actually spoke with her last night," I commented.
Her eyes widened.
"You did? What did she say? What’s bothering her? She doesn’t come to eat with me. She doesn’t sit with me anymore. Even when I bring her out of her room, she’s always anxious, rubbing her palms, looking around, staring at faces like she’s searching for someone."
Lady Lucille’s words broke me because they made me realize Jenna had been dealing with all of this for the last fifteen days without any help.
"Yes, she’s really anxious about her studies. I think she misjudged her preparation, and now she has a lot of notes to cover."
I started rambling, trying to give Lady Lucille something that would comfort her, but she shook her head.
"That’s not the kind of worry or anxiety someone shows over studying," she grunted, puckering her lips before adding, "Maybe she’s looking for a mate. That’s what I told Alpha King Ragnar. He has two single brothers. Why can’t he just set her up with one of them if he doesn’t want to marry her?"
Once Lady Lucille started opening her heart to me, she gave me an insight I had never expected.
She wanted Ragnar to marry Jenna?
I don’t know why, but I felt a little twinge in my chest.
I didn’t say anything or remind her that Ragnar was already dating Gigi.
Then there were Theodore and Jaguar. If Jenna married either of them, it would be a disaster.
I wouldn’t be able to punish them or do anything against them because it would end up hurting Jenna too.
Then I remembered what Jenna had told me.
She had a crush on Theodore, which was why she believed the guy luring her out was him and did everything for him.
Simply put, it seemed like nothing good came from being involved with Theodore or Jaguar.
"I think you’re right," I said dramatically, watching her eyes widen. "I would’ve spoken to Alpha King Ragnar, but–"
I paused dramatically, turning my head to the side.
"But what?" she insisted.
"His girlfriend, Gigi, hates me," I pouted. "I mean, she doesn’t say it out loud, but she remembers the past between us, right?"
I watched Lady Lucille raise an eyebrow.
"So she doesn’t really let me around her boyfriend, you know."
As soon as I said that, she raised both eyebrows this time.
That was all the acknowledgment I needed.
She didn’t like Gigi. I already knew that.
She was looking for ways to bother her, and the fact that she wanted to replace her with Jenna said it all.
"As for Jenna, there are other good Alphas around too. Men who would cherish her and approach her themselves if we do this mate ball correctly," I said, watching her blink repeatedly.
"But I want to keep her close. That’s why I want her with either Theodore, Jaguar, or Ragnar."
Once again, she didn’t exclude Ragnar.
"Yeah, but we can’t force them, right? We should keep our options open because, at the end of the day, this is for Jenna," I commented.
I remembered that what Jenna had been through was indirectly because of her parents and grandmother and the way they had treated her.
Lady Lucille looked a little lost before turning her attention back to me.
"Gigi doesn’t let you speak with your own boss?" she questioned, looking not very happy with the fact that Gigi was controlling her grandson.
"She gets really annoyed and angry if I am alone with alpha King Ragnar. And there are things that I need to discuss with him about business, so I cannot always inform Gigi that I am speaking with him," I spoke in a low sad voice and pouted.
