Firmament Sword

Chapter 683 664: Terrifying Warship

The events that followed confirmed Xu Luo's guess. The resentment born from a young girl, just awakening to love, having that nascent affection brutally snuffed out was absolutely astounding.

And the destructive power it generated was even more so.

This noble lady, who had just defeated her opponent in the annual competition to earn her spot on the list of one hundred, was now piloting her warship, plowing ahead recklessly at a shocking speed.

Countless warships scrambled to get out of her way, wondering what had gotten into the famous noble lady of Celestial Brilliance.

Later, amidst the Vast Mountains, Xu Luo discovered a massive city. Judging by its scale, it could house at least several million people.

Its ink-black walls radiated a magnificent, ancient, and weathered aura.

The city was bustling, with tides of people surging through its streets.

Normally, Xie Yurou would have told him about the city without him even having to ask.

But right now, Xie Yurou was intently focused on piloting the warship, charging straight into the city without the slightest intention of explaining anything to Xu Luo.

Xu Luo shrank back, not daring to ask, terrified that one wrong word might set off the young lady's volatile mood.

The descending warship immediately drew gasps of alarm from the crowds on the street. Even Xu Luo broke out in a cold sweat, afraid that if the young lady slipped up and killed a few people, all hell would break loose.

He didn't need to guess to know that the city was surely home to the families of the Celestial Brilliance Disciples. Causing a conflict here wouldn't do anyone any good.

Just as he was thinking this, a furious roar came from the street below. "Who the hell do you think you are, plowing through here so recklessly? Are you looking to die?"

With that, he raised a hand and sent a palm strike flying directly at the warship.

In truth, although Xie Yurou's warship was diving, she was maintaining control. It was frightening, but it wouldn't have actually caused any harm.

But as the man's palm strike hit, a vast power surged toward them like a tidal wave. The warship trembled violently and then began to plummet, completely out of control.

Only then did the crowd on the street truly panic, scattering in all directions.

Not everyone living in the domain of Celestial Brilliance was a peerless expert. Many Celestial Brilliance Disciples settled their families here after joining the sect, bringing their loved ones to live in this very city.

As a result, the city was also home to a great number of ordinary people.

If a warship dozens of yards long were to crash here, one could only imagine the horrific scene it would create.

Xie Yurou had never experienced anything like this. At Celestial Brilliance, who would ever dare to treat her this way?

Her face went pale, and she let out a cry of alarm, desperately trying to stabilize the warship. But her opponent seemed determined to make things difficult for her; that terrifying force kept pulling the ship downward, forcing it to fall.

Xie Yurou was on the verge of tears. This was the first time in her entire life she had acted so willfully and impulsively, and now she was in this mess.

A cold glint flashed in Xu Luo's eyes. With a cold snort, he unleashed his Yin Yang Power, shattering the external force and stabilizing the warship in one smooth motion.

The crowd on the street cried out in shock. The warship, dozens of yards long, was now less than ten feet from the people below!

It had been inches away from causing a catastrophe, a horrific accident!

Xie Yurou stood there helplessly, still shaken and on the verge of tears.

Xu Luo smiled at her. "It's alright. Don't be afraid."

"You insolent fools, get out here!"

The words had barely left Xu Luo's mouth when the attacker outside roared again, relentlessly slamming another palm strike against the warship.

Xu Luo had felt a bit guilty at first. 'It's true we were in the wrong and caused a disturbance for the people in the city,' he thought. 'But since no real damage was done, I was thinking we should just let it go and quiet things down.'

He never expected the other party to be so tyrannical, clearly intending to blow the situation out of proportion.

Xu Luo's circle had always been small. The people and events he was familiar with all concerned the younger generation; he didn't have a deep understanding of the overall political landscape at Celestial Brilliance.

But since the man was being so unreasonable, Xu Luo couldn't be bothered to overthink it. He unfurled his ocean-vast Spiritual Power, enveloping the entire warship. With a single Divine Thought... the vessel shot toward the sky.

The attacker was clearly an expert. Though the power of his palm strike was terrifying, it was aimed solely at the warship and didn't spill over to the surroundings.

Seeing the warship take flight, the man leaped into the air. "You can't just charge through here and get away with it!" he boomed. "I don't care who you are, you will pay the price! You think you can leave? Get back here!"

With that, he flexed his fingers and made a grabbing motion...

An enormous hand materialized in the sky, reaching directly for the warship.

Although Xu Luo didn't know how to pilot the warship, his Spiritual Power was immense. He directly seized control of the vessel and steered it higher into the sky.

Under Xu Luo's control, the warship moved like a slippery eel, weaving through the gaps between the giant hand's fingers before speeding off into the distance.

A cold glint flashed in the pursuer's eyes as he continued to chase the warship relentlessly.

"Who is that guy? Do you have a grudge against him?" Xu Luo asked, looking over at Xie Yurou. Through the Crystal porthole, he could see the man was still in hot pursuit.

Xie Yurou had finally snapped out of her daze. Her gaze turned ice-cold as she looked at the man behind them. "Wang Xu," she said. "Wanghai's uncle..."

"Wanghai's uncle? Why is he chasing you? Or does he just not know who owns this ship and attacks everyone like some rabid dog?" Xu Luo asked in surprise.

Xie Yurou let out a snort of laughter. Looking at Xu Luo, she said, "You really have a sharp tongue, don't you? Of course he knows this ship is mine. The feud between my Xie Family and their Wang Family goes way back. Now that he's finally stumbled upon an opportunity like this, why would he ever let it pass?"

"Picking on a young woman like you... is that something to be proud of?" Xu Luo's mouth twitched. 'I seem to have quite the fateful connection with this Wang Family myself,' he thought.

'First, I snatched the attack Talisman he wanted at the auction. Then I took the legacy he'd gone to great lengths to find. And in the annual competition, he suffered a crushing defeat at my hands... Now, I've run into his uncle of all people.'

Just then, Xie Yurou suddenly looked at Xu Luo and asked, "You've never piloted a warship before. So… how did you know how to control mine?"

"..." Xu Luo looked speechlessly at the suspicious Xie Yurou. 'Women's minds really do jump all over the place,' he thought. 'One second she's talking about Wanghai's uncle, and the next she's on to this.'

"I'm controlling it directly with my Spiritual Power," Xu Luo said casually.

"What? How is that possible?" Xie Yurou stared at Xu Luo in astonishment. "How could your Spiritual Power be that strong? Other than me, not even a Supreme would find it easy to forcibly pilot my warship with Spiritual Power. So how is it that in your hands… it's even smoother than when I'm at the controls?"

"It just proves women aren't naturally cut out to be pilots!" Xu Luo said with conviction. "I'm not even at the Great Saint Realm… Besides, my lady, now doesn't seem like the time to be discussing this. Shouldn't we lose the guy behind us first?"

"Why lose him? I'm in a bad mood today, so it's his unlucky day. Turn the ship around and charge right at him. I'm going to attack!" Xie Yurou said coldly.

"Are you sure?" Xu Luo asked.

"Hurry up!" Xie Yurou urged.

"Alright…" With a flicker of his Divine Thought, the warship instantly carved a perfect arc through the void at an unbelievable speed, turning its bow to face the pursuing Wang Xu.

Wang Xu, seeing the warship suddenly reverse course, was stunned for a moment. Then, a savage grin spread across his face. "You little bitch from the Xie Family, go to hell!"

As he spoke, two beams of light shot from his body, transforming into two long rainbows that stabbed directly at the warship.

They were two Flying Swords!

Xie Yurou's fury completely erupted. "You go to hell!" she roared.

Her fair hands flew, forming a series of seals. The warship trembled slightly, and two dazzling beams of light blasted directly toward Wang Xu.

The two Flying Swords were incinerated almost instantly upon contact with the beams of light.

BLECH! Wang Xu coughed up a mouthful of blood. He stared in disbelief at the two beams of light hurtling toward him and roared, "Your warship… how can it possibly store an attack of this level…?"

Even as he spoke, he scrambled desperately to dodge aside.

WHOOSH!

The two beams of light crisscrossed, one of them grazing Wang Xu's body as it passed.

Wang Xu let out a horrific scream. A chunk of flesh on his thigh had been instantly carbonized!

The searing pain nearly made him pass out. He was a complete mess. How could he dare to remain? He roared, "You little bitch from the Xie Family, just you wait! I won't let you get away with this!"

SWOOSH! SWOOSH!

Two more dazzling beams of light, like twin bolts of lightning, shot toward Wang Xu.

Wang Xu turned and fled without a moment's hesitation, like a stray dog with its tail between its legs.

He had planned to use this opportunity to scheme against Xie Yurou, but he never imagined her warship possessed such terrifying offensive power. If he stayed any longer, he would be blasted to smithereens… or maybe not even smithereens would remain.

Watching Wang Xu flee, Xie Yurou winced as if in physical pain. "Damn it, he got away. One million Top-level Immortal Spirit Stones… gone, just like that."

"What?" Xu Luo's jaw dropped. He stared at Xie Yurou in disbelief. "Just for those two attacks, you used one million Top-level Immortal Spirit Stones?"

"What did you expect? That guy is at the Great Saint Realm. It's not considered particularly high, but an attack powerful enough to leave him in such a sorry state couldn't possibly come without a cost in Immortal Spirit Stones, could it?"

Xie Yurou glanced at Xu Luo, then grinned. "That friend of yours made off with a huge pile of money. He must have given you a hefty cut, right? How about lending me a few million to play with?"

"I don't have any…" Xu Luo refused, while inwardly cursing what a spendthrift this girl was.

'What a joke. Someone who casually blows a million Top-level Immortal Spirit Stones on a whim is broke? Yeah, right.'

It was only then that Xu Luo suddenly realized… there were just too many rich people at Celestial Brilliance!

And warships this good...

'Maybe I should figure out a way… to get a ship like this for myself,' Xu Luo mused, rubbing his chin. 'Jin Ming's ship seemed pretty nice!'
