Yong Zhou was dead.

His attempt to provoke Su Yi had become his last words. His voice still echoed through the otherwise deathly silence.

“Go on and attack me then! Come on, don’t hesitate! Show me—”

In the end, he toppled over backward, dead before he could even finish his sentence.

Everyone saw it clearly. Yong Zhou’s body was intact, but his life force had been wiped out. It had vanished completely.

Chills coursed down the onlookers’ spines, and their eyes widened in disbelief, because no one understood how he’d died!

Su Yi just stood there, hands behind his back. He hadn’t taken so much as half a step away from his initial position, nor had he moved in any way. Not even his qi had shifted.

It was as if Yong Zhou had just upped and died out of nowhere!

This was unquestionably far too strange and far too unsettling.

Pu Xuan had been saved, only to collapse in a heap. His bones had been shattered, and he was badly injured. He’d been saved, but he hadn’t gotten off easily, either.

He looked at his former captor. That guy... is dead? What did Master do? How did he kill a Heavenly Monarch without causing even the slightest disturbance?

That’s right. Su Yi hadn’t caused even the slightest disturbance. No one had sensed how or why Yong Zhou had died.

It came as a horrifying shock. Anyone who saw it would have felt chills course down their spine.

Lian Luo couldn’t help but grin and sigh with approval. “It was over in a flash. You killed him without leaving a trace. It’s no wonder my master takes you as her good brother!”

He was praising Su Yi, but he didn’t forget to compliment Lu Hongpao while he was at it.

If not for the fact that he was still pinned beneath Wang Chu’s foot, he’d have definitely given Su Yi a big thumbs up and lavished him with praise, too.

Bang!

Wang Chu pressed down with his toe, making Lian Luo’s soul jump, then convulse with agony.

Meanwhile, Wang Chu said coldly, “Don’t let him scare you, everyone. I can say with certainty that he can’t kill all of us like that!”

“Try me,” said Su Yi.

It was just two short words, but Wang Chu’s heart clenched. The unparalleled Heavenly Monarch of Sevendeaths Court flicked his foot, and a streak of silver light dug its way into Lian Luo’s soul.

“That’s a Silver Cup Heart Lock. If anything happens to me, Lian Luo is doomed,” Wang Chu said playfully. “Are you sure you still want to try me?”

Su Yi’s eyebrows rose. “Lian Luo, would you consider it worth dying if it meant that every last enemy here died with you?”

Lian Luo burst into laughter. “That would be a worthy death indeed!”

Su Yi shook his head. “No, that wouldn’t be enough. How about this? If you die, I’ll kill their friends and families, too. Then, I’ll use their heads to build a burial mound in your honor. How about it?”

Lian Luo froze, stunned, then shouted excitedly, “Wonderful! That would be grand!”

“It’s settled, then,” said Su Yi.

Whoosh!

A bamboo sword flew out of his hair, then extended until it was three feet long before landing in his palm.

He’d never feared his enemies’ threats. Even when he had reservations, when it came time to make a choice, he’d attack without hesitation before compromising!

The Heavenly Monarchs could no longer remain calm. Is Su Yi insane?

Wang Chu’s eyes shone with madness. “You want to see who’s tougher, huh? Fine! I’ve never been afraid of anyone!”

He spoke slowly and clearly. Every word boomed throughout the entire area.

“Wait!” Ren Dongshi cried out at a critical juncture. “Su Yi, don’t tell me you don’t care if Lian Luo lives or dies?”

Before Su Yi could respond, Ren Dongshi continued, “I have a suggestion. It’ll give you a chance to save Lian Luo?”

“Oh?” said Su Yi. “Let’s hear it.”

“It’s simple. Don’t use that invisible, external power to kill anyone, and we wouldn’t mind giving you a chance at a fair fight!” Ren Dongshi said with a laugh.

The others’ hearts stirred. That’s right. We aren’t afraid of Su Yi; we’re afraid of whatever external power he used to kill Yong Zhou.

Ren Dongshi said with satisfaction, “Besides, I’m sure you can’t use whatever method that was repeatedly. If you had, you’d have killed Wang Chu at the same time, and there’s no way you would have just watched him place the Silver Cup Heart Lock in Lian Luo.”

Su Yi didn’t deny it. The secret power of the heart was most effective when his opponent didn’t expect it. Only then was he sure to succeed in a single blow.

But now, all of the Heavenly Monarchs were on guard. Under the circumstances, while Su Yi might well manage to use his heart power to kill a few more of them, the effects would be limited.

Wang Chu said suddenly, “Fellow Daoist Ren, if you have any suggestions, please speak directly.”

Ren Dongshi grinned. “It’s just as I said earlier. So long as Su Yi refrains from using external power, we’ll give him a chance at a fair fight! If he wins... let’s say three matches, we’ll give him Lian Luo’s soul. But if he loses... he’ll become our prisoner, and we’ll do with him as we please!”

The crowd’s hearts stirred.

Wang Chu’s brow furrowed in thought, but in the end, he nodded. “Very well.”

But Su Yi laughed. “Fighting simply to determine a victor is boring. Better to fight to the death! Also, there’s no need for three separate matches. You can just attack me at once. If I lose, you can do with me as you see fit!”

He could tell at a glance that Ren Dongshi was the dishonest sort. He’d made this suggestion in a blatant bid to stall for time.

His intentions went without saying. He just wanted to take this time to tell Limitless Palace that he’d appeared in the Obscured Heavens Mountains!

Indeed, as soon as Su Yi said this, Red Dongshi’s brow furrowed subtly, and he glanced at Wang Chu.

Wang Chu said coldly, “Since you made so many conditions, I have one of my own. When the fighting begins, you are not to use any kind of external power or treasures. Do you still dare to fight us?”

Everyone’s heart stirred. Su Yi’s victory in the ruins of the Heart-Tempering Sword House had shaken the entire world, but almost everyone assumed that there was no way he could have won with just his Silent Realm cultivation base. They all suspected he’d used some sort of hidden trump card.

After all, everyone knew that Su Yi, the reincarnation of the Heart-Tempering Sword House’s founder, had an abundance of cards up his sleeves!

Thus, they figured that Su Yi wouldn’t be a threat so long as they prevented him from using his hidden cards.

Of course, it seemed unlikely that Su Yi would agree to that, so all of them were stunned when he nodded without hesitation. “Very well.”

Even Wang Chu and Ren Dongshi were surprised.

But then, everyone felt reassured.

“You said this yourself! If you go back on your word, don’t blame us for our poor manners!” Wang Chu said coldly, his eyes glinting with murderous intent.

But Ren Dongshi furrowed his brow; he got the sense that something wasn’t quite right here. “I heard that you’re a man of your word. If you go back on your promise this time, everyone will hold you in contempt!”

Su Yi glanced at him. “Someone like you isn’t fit to question my character.”

He took a step forward, then scanned the crowd. “No need for any further conversation. Come over and die!”

The Heavenly Monarchs exchanged glances. All of them surged with murderous intent.

But then, a golden-robed man stepped forward, his expression full of loathing. “Your Excellency, please grant me an opportunity to avenge Junior Apprentice Brother Yong Zhou!”

Wang Chu nodded. “Very well!”

Boom!

The golden-robed man took a step forward, then blurred into a beam of golden light and charged at Su Yi. Golden flames surged around him, and the power of the Laws interwove.

When he swung his fist, a golden vortex appeared, sweeping through heaven and earth, tearing through the skies, and emanating terrifying, rending power.

All eyes instantly locked onto Su Yi. He’s only in the Silent Realm. How can he possibly fight a Piercing Illusions Stage Heavenly Monarch without his hidden cards?

Practically simultaneously, Su Yi took a step forward. His bamboo sword, Proper Conduct, took to the air, transformed back into a hairpin, and re-inserted itself into his topknot.

Since he’d agreed not to use external powers and treasures, he naturally wouldn’t use his sword, either.

Boom!

A golden whirlpool came crashing down, like a turning millstone. It slammed ruthlessly into Su Yi.

Space itself was crushed to pieces beneath it. Not even a fellow Heavenly Monarch would have dared to take such an attack head-on.

But when it reached Su Yi, this terrifyingly powerful golden whirlpool split, then exploded into pieces, as fragile as paper window paneling. It couldn’t even scratch Su Yi.

As golden sparks fell like rain, Su Yi waved his sleeve.

A streak of sword qi descended from the heavens several thousand feet away, like the first light of dawn cleaving through the darkness. It ran the golden-robed man through, starting from his head, then descending downward through his torso.

Then, the skewered Heavenly Monarch exploded with a burst of blood, destroyed in both body and soul!

Without exception, everyone was stunned. He just killed a Piercing Illusions Stage Heavenly Monarch in a single effortless strike!

The most unbelievable part was that they’d all been watching him closely, and they dared say with certainty that he hadn’t employed any form of external power!

“Can a Silent Realm Dao Lord... really kill a Heavenly Monarch?” someone asked. Everyone’s heart shook, and all of them realized that this didn’t bode well.

Even Pu Xuan and Lian Luo gasped. Earlier, they’d been worried that Su Yi wouldn’t be able to hold his own without external powers. They could never have anticipated that despite his humble Silent Realm cultivation base, Su Yi was already this powerful and ferocious!

Ren Dongshi was overcome with astonishment. What terrifying killing power! How could his Silent Realm cultivation be this heaven-defying?

“Quick, everyone attack at once!” roared Wang Chu. He knew he’d misjudged the situation; he’d severely underestimated Su Yi’s terrifyingness.

“Die!” More than ten Heavenly Monarchs attacked at once, each unleashing the strongest powers at their disposal. They were holding nothing back.

Heaven and earth shook, and the sun and moon lost their radiance. The surrounding landscape shattered, and the ground caved in.

More than ten Heavenly Monarchs had joined forces. How could their combined power possibly be ordinary?

All manner of divine abilities, wondrous techniques, strange phenomena, and brilliant lights gathered to form a boundless current of destruction, all of it aimed at Su Yi.

Lightning interwove, winds howled, and firelight stung the eyes. The entire area was plunged into a state of destruction and collapse.

Ren Dongshi knew that in Su Yi’s shoes, he could never have faced this onslaught head-on. He’d have had to drag the battle out and defeat his opponents one by one.

Wang Chu’s eyes narrowed as he used a technique for prying into others’ secrets. He gazed intently at Su Yi, curious to see if Su Yi really dared fight without external power even in the face of such an onslaught.
