Upon reaching Eternity, every step forward was incredibly arduous.

Throughout the ages, there was no telling how many once-dazzling talents had stagnated or lost their way upon achieving Eternity, unable to advance any further.

Who among those capable of becoming a Heavenly Monarch wasn’t a rare, unparalleled talent?

Even so, all of them had endured countless years of tempering and adversity before reaching their current heights.

This was in stark contrast with Su Yi’s rapid progress.

Their impression of him was stuck in the past. A decade ago, he’d only just left the God Domain and reached the River of Destiny. He was still only in the Unfettered Realm.

It was because of the battle in the Literati Continent that everyone learned that Su Yi had stepped into the Divine Wandering Realm.

His progress had been astonishing even then.

No one would have guessed that after the battles in the ruins of the Heart-Tempering Sword House and the Obscured Heavens Mountains, he’d have already reached the Immeasurable Realm.

This progress was more than just astonishing. It was terrifying!

Moreover, his combat prowess was even more unbelievable than his cultivation base. It was hard enough to accept that he could defeat Heavenly Monarchs, let alone that he could defeat even a peak Piercing Illusions Stage Heavenly Monarch in a single blow!

The shock was so immense that a long time passed and the crowd still couldn’t calm down.

It was to the point that they were distracted during the next several matches.

Finally, the first round of matches ended. Half of the competitors had been eliminated.

The remaining forty-six moved onto the next round of the competition.

The seven Heavenly Sovereigns took out the recovery medicine they’d prepared for the event, distributing it among the victors.

This was an elixir of the Grand Dao known as “Spring and Autumn Infusion,” and it was from Eternal Lightning Court. No matter how severe someone’s wounds were, they could make a full recovery within an hour of taking this medicine.

An hour later, once all of the remaining participants had recovered, they drew lots for the second round. Everyone approached the Revolving Dao Lotus once more.

This time, Su Yi chose Ling Wenxuan as his opponent, catching him off guard.

Had this been the first round of the competition, Ling Wenxuan would have celebrated, but he’d only just witnessed Pei Shi’s defeat. His expression was grim.

The second round of matches began.

Su Yi noticed that several of those who’d put on dazzling performances in the first round lost in the second. These included Yan Xiaosheng, who lost to Ancestor Guang Ji.

When Lian Yue took the stage, she astonished the crowd once more, but this time, her opponent was extraordinarily impressive, too.

In the end, it took her nine strikes to overpower her opponent. She couldn’t recreate her one-shot victory in the first round.

When Su Yi took the stage, he became the center of attention once more. Everyone seemed eager to get a clearer sense of his abilities, so they ceased their conversations and watched with bated breath.

The atmosphere was oppressive to the extreme.

All of this put Ling Wenxuan under enormous pressure. If he couldn’t block even a single hit, he’d lose an enormous amount of face.

“There’s something I need to discuss with you,” Su Yi suddenly transmitted before the battle began.

Ling Wenxuan was stunned. He instinctively transmitted back, “What is it?”

“Your son, Ling Moyun, has fallen into my hands. If you want him to live, leave the Xuanli Sect and join the Heart-Tempering Sword House. What do you say?” said Su Yi.

Ling Wenxuan’s expression contorted with anger. “Nothing but the ravings of a madman!”

Su Yi said casually, “Then your son is doomed.”

Ling Wenxuan took a deep breath. “Do you really think you’ll be able to leave this place alive when the curtain falls on the Struggle for Heavenly Fate?”

Su Yi said calmly, “You needn’t concern yourself with my life and death. Your son’s life is in your hands. You really won’t think it over?”

Ling Wenxuan’s face was ashen with fury. His whole body seethed with murderous intent.

He growled through gnashed teeth, “Is this your way of avenging Luo Yan? You’re dreaming! Yun’er understands the bigger picture. Even if he knew about this, he wouldn’t fault me for my heartlessness!”

“What spirit!” Su Yi laughed. “You’d rather lose your son than betray your sect. In that case, I have no reason to let Ling Moyun live any longer.”

Ling Wenxuan’s gaze frosted over, his eyes glinting murderously. “If Yun’er dies, I swear I’ll kill every last member of the Heart-Tempering Sword House!”

Su Yi just extended his hand. “If you please.”

“Trying to destroy my Dao Heart before we even fight, huh? You deserve to die for this!” Ling Wenxuan could no longer suppress his fury. He drew his sword, then attacked Su Yi.

When he attacked, he went all out right from the start, attacking with everything he had!

A fiery streak of sword qi took to the sky. It was as if the entire arena had transformed into a giant furnace. The air burned, and firelight raged.

This attack instantly drew the onlookers’ attention. The Flowing Flames Celestial Current!

This was the Xuanli Sect’s mightiest Daoist magic. It could burn the firmament and melt all facets of creation.

When Ling Wenxuan used it, its destructive power impressed even many of the Heavenly Sovereigns.

When an expert took action, their strength was readily apparent.

Ling Wenxuan’s slash had a distinctive quality to it. He was obviously a dazzling figure even among peak Heavenly Monarchs.

Bang!!!

An ear-splitting impact rang out. Countless sparks scattered, then transformed into countless threads of fire, like a dazzling, flaming firework.

As the firelight danced through the air, Ling Wenxuan was slammed into the ground. A foot pressed down on his chest.

When the light and fire receded, a familiar scene came into view.

Pei Shi of Limitless Palace had lost in a single blow in much the same way, and he too had been crushed beneath Su Yi’s foot!

This was also similar in that few of the onlookers could tell how exactly Su Yi had attacked.

Silent astonishment spread throughout the crowd.

One time might be a fluke, but twice?

The seven Heavenly Sovereigns remained silent. This proved that Su Yi had won without relying on external power.

This reality made countless hearts sink.

Earlier, none of them had believed that Su Yi had any hope of making it to the end of the Struggle for Heavenly Fate.

But things were completely different now!

“Go home and place a memorial tablet in your son’s honor,” said Su Yi before exiting the arena and returning to his seat.

Ling Wenxuan rose with great difficulty, his hair disheveled and his face ashen. He hissed, “Father, Yun’er has fallen into Su Yi’s hands. He intends to kill my son. Aren’t you... going to do something?”

The crowd stirred. Everyone was bewildered. What’s going on here?

Heavenly Sovereign Ling’s eyes flashed like lightning as he glared coldly at Su Yi.

Su Yi disregarded him completely. He was as calm as ever.

But then, Heavenly Sovereign Ku Xuan issued a grave warning. “No matter the enmity between you, this is the Struggle for Heavenly Fate. Here, you must act in accordance with the rules!”

Heavenly Sovereign Ling glared intently at Su Yi, then slowly retracted his gaze. He said calmly, “Rest assured. I won’t act out of turn!”

Ling Wenxuan pursed his lips and exited the arena. He’d obviously regained his mental clarity, and he realized that this was no place to discuss his personal grudges.

Even if Heavenly Sovereign Ling wanted to take action against Su Yi, there was no way the other Heavenly Sovereigns would agree!

The matches continued. Many of the results caught the onlookers off guard.

Many of those the crowd had assumed would win with ease lost.

For example, Sect Leader Wu Zhe of the Taiwu Sect lost to Yu Xiu, an elder of Sevendeaths Court.

Prior to this, Yu Xiu’s reputation and prestige had been far beneath Wu Zhe’s. However, once the battle began, he suddenly seemed like a different person. His divine abilities were unbelievably powerful, and he forcefully suppressed his opponent.

That aside, Yun Du lost to a man called Bo Yunjun!

Their battle surprised even Su Yi.

Before he lost, Yun Du unleashed his long-accumulated sword intent. His attainments in the Dao of the Sword impressed even Su Yi.

But he lost nonetheless!

All Bo Yunjun did was stretch out his hand and tap the air, shattering Yun Du’s slash inch by inch.

He won with ease!

Bo Yunjun was a Heavenly Monarch of Heavenly Sovereign E’s camp. Rumor had it that he’d once been a schoolteacher, and it was he who’d instructed the Heavenly Sovereign’s son, Yan Xiaosheng, in his pursuit of the Dao.

Yun Du’s defeat came as a massive shock.

The onlookers had to completely re-evaluate Bo Yunjun. They couldn’t even imagine where Heavenly Sovereign E had found such a deeply hidden expert.

“Fuck, I just knew those geezers had made secret arrangements...” said Heavenly Sovereign Ku Xuan.

Sect Leader Wu Zhe was the disciple he took the most pride in, yet he’d lost to an unknown like Yu Xiu. Heavenly Sovereign Ku Xuan found this hard to take.

“Did you discover anything?” Su Yi transmitted.

Heavenly Sovereign Ku Xuan transmitted, “The Court of the Southern Heavens has Lian Yue, Sevendeaths Court has Yu Xiu, and Heavenly Sovereign E has Bo Yunjun. If I’m not mistaken, Limitless Palace, the Xuanli Sect, and Eternal Lightning Court have prepared aces of their own!”

Su Yi pondered briefly. “Is there perhaps something strange about all of them?”

Heavenly Sovereign Ku Xuan subtly inclined his head. “As I’m sure you can see, Lian Yue is extraordinary, to the point that there’s no need to belabor the obvious.

“Yu Xiu and Bo Yunjun are far less renowned than the other participants, and at least on the surface, their origins are far less impressive. But they won anyway. That suggests there’s more to their backgrounds than meets the eye.

“Earlier, I flipped through the list of participants and found several strange additions. Now, it seems there really is something off about some of them.”

Here, Heavenly Sovereign Ku Xuan hesitated, but in the end, he still told Su Yi his hypothesis. “I suspect that these out-of-place combatants all have power from the Far Shore of Destiny!”

The forces of the Far Shore of Destiny had been barred from participating, but it seemed they’d snuck their people in anyway.

Heavenly Sovereign Ku Xuan said, “If I’m not mistaken, Limitless Palace’s Liu Wutian and the Xuanli Sect’s Martial Palace Master, Lu Sang, are strange in much the same way as Lian Yue, Yu Xiu, and Bo Yunjun.”

Liu Wutian? Lu Sang? Su Yi committed the names to memory, and as he watched the remaining duels, he discovered that they both displayed power starkly different from the first round. Moreover, both defeated their opponents!

All of this invited widespread uproar.

Both rounds had been full of unexpected twists. Who wouldn’t have been surprised?

But at the same time, Su Yi noticed that the Heavenly Sovereigns remained calm in the face of these “unexpected” results. They’d obviously predicted this!

There was no doubt about it. Lian Yue, Yu Xiu, Bo Yunjun, Liu Wutian, and Lu Sang were all their respective Heavenly Sovereigns’ “hidden aces”!

“Who is Eternal Lightning Court’s hidden ace?” Su Yi couldn’t help but ask.

Heavenly Sovereign Ku Xuan said, “I thought it was Wang Zhiwu, but it seems... I misread the situation.”

Su Yi couldn’t help but laugh. Actually, if Wang Zhiwu awakened his true power, he’d be more than qualified to be a ‘hidden ace.’

Something suddenly occurred to Su Yi. “Wait, don’t you have a hidden ace?”

Heavenly Sovereign Ku Xuan turned to look at him, then said seriously, “Don’t you qualify?”

“...” Su Yi didn’t know what to say to that.
