Sovereign Preceptor?
This was Su Yi’s first time hearing someone call Mo Hanyi by that title.
“Idiot! Are you only just realizing it?” someone berated Ying Qi from inside the Book of Destiny.
“The ignorant are without sin. So much time has passed, and those who fought alongside us during the Battle of Silent Annihilation died long ago. How many in the present-day Destiny Demon race know of us?”
A clamor of voices rang out, all of them tinged with ruefulness and grief.
Suddenly, a voice rang out, silencing all others. “That’s right. I’m Mo Hanyi.”
There was no disguising the astonishment on Ying Qi’s face. Sovereign Preceptor! You really are still alive! How happy and excited will our clansmen be when they find out?
But Ying Qi quickly calmed down.
He’d always been steady. Otherwise, Demon Sovereign Ling Zhao wouldn’t have paid such a heavy price to send him out of the Silent Annihilation Forbidden Domain.
Ying Qi glanced first at Su Yi, then said, “Do you have orders for me, Sovereign Preceptor?”
“You don’t understand why the Little Chosen is doing this, do you?” asked Mo Hanyi.
“I don’t,” said Ying Qi. Indeed, it seemed truly strange. He couldn’t for the life of him figure out what Su Yi was playing out.
“Why not let the Little Chosen clear things up for you?” said Mo Hanyi.
“It’s nothing. I’m just playing,” Su Yi said with a laugh.
He flipped his palm and sealed the Book of Destiny’s aura, instantly silencing Mo Hanyi and the others.
Ying Qi’s brow furrowed. “Are you afraid?”
Su Yi said calmly, “You’re welcome to interpret this as just bluffing or putting on airs.”
Ying Qi fell briefly silent. “Have you considered my earlier suggestion?”
He was suddenly viscerally aware of Su Yi’s abilities. Everything he’d just done had left Ying Qi bewildered and suspicious.
And the unknown was always rife with variables.
Ying Qi found this feeling most unpleasant. He’d always liked being in control. Otherwise, he would never have gone to such lengths to learn more about Su Yi, nor would he have made such ample preparations.
Yet now that Su Yi truly stood before him, Ying Qi realized that Su Yi’s abilities and responses were no longer under his control!
Su Yi shook his head and said directly, “No, let’s just fight. All of this testing and probing is useless. Ultimately, the outcome will come down to who’s stronger, don’t you think?”
Ying Qi had a complicated look on his face. He sighed. “Your words resonate with my heart. As they say, great minds think alike.”
Were they not enemies, Ying Qi wouldn’t have been able to resist inviting Su Yi for a chat. He felt as if he’d bumped into a rare, like-minded individual much to his taste.
Unfortunately, there was no way that could be possible under the circumstances.
“If you please!” said Ying Qi, gesturing to Su Yi. His red robes billowed like crimson waves, and even his presence transformed; his aura suddenly as fierce as a windstorm.
River Ancestor Sparrow instantly moved further away. He’d watched Ying Qi defeat River Ancestor Bai Mang. It had been an overwhelming, utterly ferocious victory.
“If you please!” Su Yi put away the Book of Destiny, his gaze clear and intent, with no sign of joy or sorrow.
When the terrifying pressure emanating from Ying Qi reached Su Yi, an invisible barrier blocked its path. It couldn’t shake Su Yi in the slightest.
This strange scene made Ying Qi narrow his eyes. Is he really in the Immeasurable Realm?
He suddenly recalled what the Heavenly Sovereigns had told him. Even in the Immeasurable Realm, Su Yi had the heaven-defying strength to shake Heavenly Sovereigns’ avatars of will!
“In that case, I won’t be polite,” Ying Qi said with a laugh.
Whoosh!
The surrounding waters churned, and the sky was ripped asunder.
When Ying Qi raised his hand and pressed down, a blazing red palm imprint descended on Su Yi from on high.
That terrifying palm imprint was full of destructive, murderous power, like a blood-red purgatory falling onto the world below.
River Ancestor Sparrow keenly sensed that Ying Qi was drawing on considerably more strength than when he’d fought River Ancestor Bai Mang. Don’t tell me that in Ying Qi’s eyes, an Immeasurable Realm cultivator like Su Yi is more dangerous than a River Ancestor?
This thought had only just occurred to River Ancestor Sparrow when Su Yi attacked. His blow robes billowed around him as he pressed his fingers into a makeshift sword and thrust.
Boom!
A streak of dazzling sword qi rose into the firmament, cleaving into that blood-red palm imprint.
But the palm imprint was utterly terrifying. The thrust left only a shallow gash on its surface, and as it continued its descent, Su Yi’s sword qi cracked and split.
Tyrannical, blood-red power swept outward, destroying everything within a hundred thousand feet of Su Yi.
River Ancestor Sparrow couldn’t help but gasp. It’s as if he could destroy an entire world in a single blow!
But more than the blow itself, River Ancestor Sparrow found it unbelievable that Su Yi had survived.
Su Yi retreated explosively at the moment of impact, dodging by a hair.
Boom!
Firelight spread, and turbulent currents swept outward.
Su Yi dodged Ying Qi’s attack, but he couldn’t escape the aftermath. Where it brushed him, bloody gashes tore open on his skin.
Ying Qi couldn’t help but look impressed. He sighed, “I can tell you’ve yet to draw on any kind of external power. You’ve achieved so much relying only on your humble cultivation base. It’s truly... hard to even imagine.”
He was strong enough to kill River Ancestors with ease, even when fighting in the River of Destiny!
Outside the River of Destiny, he could fight toe-to-toe with Heavenly Sovereigns!
Yet now, Su Yi, a mere Immeasurable Realm cultivator, had blocked his attack. Of course he was startled! How could he not be?
“In the end, I couldn’t block it. I had to dodge, and even so, I was injured...” Su Yi sighed.
It was just one strike, yet it had given him a clear picture of Ying Qi’s terrifying power.
“You’re too modest,” said Ying Qi. “I wasn’t anywhere this serious when I killed River Ancestor Bai Mang not long ago.”
His red eyes lit up, glowing like lava, his sharp gaze boring into Su Yi.
“All the world’s heroes have their own brand of courage, but in my eyes, yours is the most exceptional of all,” said Ying Qi, licking his lips. His aura silently expanded around him. “It’s the most unbelievable, too. Should I succeed in plucking your gallbladder, I’d treat it with reverence and give it a position of honor in my collection!”
Before his voice had even finished echoing through the air, he attacked suddenly.
This time was obviously different. The surrounding waters were thrown into upheaval, and the distant Dark Light Forbidden Zone felt the impact. Its formations collapsed and broke, its mountains were reduced to powder, and countless buildings fell.
Practically every living thing in the vicinity was instantly reduced to ash.
The sight made River Ancestor Sparrow’s heart ache. Those had been his subordinates!
But he had no time to think about that. He had to flee first.
Ying Qi fought as if frenzied, his whole body emanating dense, shocking murderous intent.
Boom!
Ying Qi shot explosively toward Su Yi, like a beam of blood-red light.
The divine abilities of the Negative Karma Destiny Demons centered around slaughter. They strived for maximum destruction.
All of them had terrifyingly strong physical bodies, mighty souls, and searing hot murderous intent. They were naturally powerful fighters.
Su Yi’s first incarnation’s heart devil said that all Demonist legacies could be traced back to the Negative Karma Destiny Demons, and he hadn’t been exaggerating, either.
Meanwhile, Su Yi was undergoing a shocking transformation of his own.
Endless arcs of dazzling lightning enveloped his body, his aura expanding around him. It was now starkly different from before. In fact, it was no different from a River Ancestor’s!
“This...” For a moment, River Ancestor Sparrow thought he was seeing things. Did River Ancestor Ji Dian come back to life!?
Boom!
Before River Ancestor Sparrow could wrap his head around it, Su Yi attacked. With a wave of his hand, endless lightning fell, then condensed into a sword and swung furiously.
The nearby waters were instantly plunged into chaos. Countless electric currents flashed and coursed through the surroundings.
Ying Qi’s fist descended explosively, only for that sword condensed out of lightning to block it.
To his surprise, he discovered that Su Yi was now displaying the strength of a River Ancestor!
But Su Yi didn’t give Ying Qi any time to think. He was already launching his next attack.
A waterfall of lightning poured down from his tall, upright frame. Dense arcs of lightning interwove, making him glow with dazzling light.
With every slash, lightning fell, like a punishment from the heavens. It couldn’t have been any more terrifying.
Ying Qi stirred up monstrous, blood-red light and clashed with him head-on. He was still relaxed, but he couldn’t break through Su Yi’s defenses in a single strike as he did before.
It was truly unbelievable, to the point that River Ancestor Sparrow was left wide-eyed, tongue-tied, and dazed.
The aura emanating from Su Yi was just too familiar. It was identical to that of River Ancestor Ji Dian!
But Su Yi obviously wasn’t River Ancestor Ji Dian.
Moreover, Su Yi wasn’t using River Ancestor Ji Dian’s divine abilities, but rather, his legacies of the Dao of the Sword.
The combination was so baffling that River Ancestor Sparrow’s brain couldn’t quite keep up. What’s happening here?
Kaboom!
Within moments, Su Yi and Ying Qi had clashed over one hundred times, throwing the entire stretch of water into chaos. A turbulent air of destruction enveloped the entire area.
As enormous as the Dark Light Forbidden Zone was, it was starting to crack. It couldn’t withstand that relentless flood of destructive power!
Bang!!!
Before long, a heaven-shaking impact rang out, and Su Yi was sent flying backward. He flew tens of thousands of feet before steadying himself, blood dripping from the corners of his lips.
Ying Qi staggered too, but only briefly. He didn’t have so much as a hair out of place.
“I understand. You must be using Seizing Destiny!” said Ying Qi.
The Negative Karma Destiny Demons were fated to oppose Destiny’s Chosen. They naturally knew some of the Book of Destiny’s abilities.
Seizing Destiny let Destiny’s Chosen use one of the true names seized in the Book of Destiny and direct its power toward their own ends. This was one of the book’s most taboo divine abilities, and it was even more terrifying than a direct possession.
But then, Ying QI frowned. “But you’re only in the Immeasurable Realm. How could you possibly bear the power of a River Ancestor’s true name?”
It was truly unbelievable. You couldn’t possibly seize and manipulate someone’s power if their cultivation was higher than yours!
It would have been one thing if Su Yi were a Heavenly Monarch, but he wasn’t. He was still a full realm away!
Yet here he was, using River Ancestor Ji Dian’s true name to manifest his strength and natal abilities!
It was just too unreasonable!
Su Yi had no answers for him. He just attacked without reservation, and soon, he and Ying Qi were locked in fierce combat.
Ying Qi took a deep breath and cast aside his scattered thoughts, his eyes blazing with murderous intent. He was completely focused on their battle.
He most certainly hadn’t forgotten Mo Hanyi’s earlier reminder. He knew that Su Yi had yet to truly master the Book of Destiny.
Naturally, that meant he wasn’t really Destiny’s Chosen
It was to the point that Su Yi was limited to the powers of the book’s first page.
That meant that this really was the perfect opportunity to kill Su Yi!
