’Where... am I...?"

She did not know where she was right now.

Just a moment ago, her master was carrying her, saving her from the giant snake that was attacking them right now.

They were still alive but then, she wasn’t with her master anymore.

’What...’

She wasn’t with her master, so where was she right now?

She did not know the answer to that simple question.

’What is this... place...’

She felt a strange weakness deep inside of her.

Her body felt heavy, trapped.

’Huh?’

When she opened her eyes and looked around herself, she indeed found herself to be chained down by green metallic chains.

’What?’

Her four limbs, her neck, even her body was chained to the ground.

There was endless darkness all around her right now.

As she observed the area around her, the only thing aside from herself that she could see right now was these chains and the thing that was present right before her.

The thing that was casting a big shadow over her.

Perhaps this thing... This wall was the reason she could not see anything.

It was strange how a single wall was blocking everything, but she knew one thing: this wasn’t the first time she had seen this wall.

’I couldn’t... ever...’

She had tried it many times.

Time and again, she had tried to climb over this fictional wall of her limitations.

It was a strange obstruction in her path. Perhaps this wall was the very reason she had felt so useless before her master.

She always wanted to help him, she wanted to do the things that he was doing for them all the time, she wanted to use more of her potential.

She knew she had it somewhere inside her: the ability to defeat even an unreal enemy like the Imugi. But, she could never access it because of this wall.

And today as well, this wall was blocking her.

What more, there were chains tying her down here today, chains that, even with all their heaviness, were not the true obstacle here.

The green chains were external while that wall... that wall was the true opponent.

Opponent, not an enemy. Felix understood that much instinctively.

She looked around herself, and there was nothing. But, when she looked inside of her, she felt the connection that she shared with her master.

A connection that told her how he was still fighting for them out there somewhere.

While she was here, he was out there, facing that legendary beast all by himself.

He was doing all that just to save her so what about her?

’I can’t... stay!’

Felix did not want to be the same burden to her master that she had been until now, so she focused all of her strength on one of her limbs first.

-Ooooooooooooooong!

She gathered her gray energy and concentrated it on one of her front feet.

-Krank!

She first freed one of her limbs. Then, she did the same with the other limbs.

’I must go to him!’

She covered her entire body with her energy and tore the green chains off her neck as well.

-Krrrrrrr!

While she knew what she needed to do next, as she stood before the wall once again, she did not know if she could climb over or not.

She was afraid.

’We don’t have the time!’

But the moment she felt the weakening connection with her master and the strange fear that he was feeling right now, her hesitation vanished.

’WE MUST!’

She raised her claws and dug them into the gray wall, putting one paw after another.

’Ughhh!’

The wall was slippery.

It also made each step she took heavier than the previous one.

The further she went, the more difficult it became for her to go against the crushing force of the wall.

There came a point where she lost her balance, almost failing to take the next step...

She could have fallen down, but she thankfully did not.

The point that had taken her out many times did not take her down this time. She went further on the wall than she ever had.

In fact, she almost reached the top...

’Noooooo...!’

But right before taking the first step, as if denying her worth, the pressure at the top of the wall increased exponentially, instantly throwing her all the way to the bottom.

’No no no no!’

She tried once again, but there was no progress.

The second time she did not reach the midway point, the third time she fell a few inches before the edge, and the fourth time she fell off from the edge once again.

It became utterly frustrating to her.

She was angry.

The very Nature was denying her advent right now.

It was frustrating. The defeat was crushing. She wanted to become stronger but she couldn’t even do what she wanted?

How was that even happening?

’No.’

She had been before this wall for more times than she could count on her paws. But, she did not reach the end... every time, it was a battle against the power that was pushing her down.

All this time, she had wasted her time fighting that power but...

’What is that power?’

How was the snake that was present outside so strong? How could it use its mystique powers so precisely?

The stage that they had been through a moment ago, she thought, was also too amazing.

But, if they were talking about concepts and complex powers, hers was far too complicated than elements and winds and things that ’most’ minds can understand.

’But we are different.’

Her master showed her how her power actually worked and how complex it actually was.

She didn’t just create some fog and show other beings some illusions.

’I see...’

They were different.

Their powers were different.

-Ooooooooooooooong!

And so should be the way to overcome this wall.

’I can do it.’

She had never realised it was possible but this time, she activated her Fog Eyes and became the fog that had terrorized so many beings until now.

Then, she levitated upwards, unaffected by the force that had been stopping her all this time.

-Zaaaaaaa...!

In fact, she felt a gentle force that lifted her up, making it easier for her to climb above the wall.

’Huuuuu...’

It did not take her long to reach the edge of the wall, for her to see what she had been missing each time she climbed the wall with her claws.

’Wow.’

What lay beyond the wall was something she had seen before as well.

There was a lot of her gray fog and then there was the centerpiece which, while wasn’t hers until now, had been a part of the bigger fog.

And once she moved forward, unaffected by the wall that had been blocking her like an evil enemy, she felt bigger.

The starry fog and her gray energy merged, becoming bigger and far more boundless than before.

Her blue eyes inside the fog changed as well. A new Rune, a strange pattern that had never been there before, was engraved in her already pretty eyes.

-OOOOOOOOOONG!

Though, while it was happening, Sam was feeling a strange unease.

’What’s up with that thing?’

First it destroyed all of the barriers he had set. Then it conjured a ton of wind attacks that covered the entire area around them, an almost scary amount of powerful attacks in fact, and then... and then it did nothing.

That damned Imugi had been staring past him at the glowing body of Felix, waiting for something with all of its attacks ready.

’It’s almost as if it’s still giving her a last fighting chance.’

Sam did not know why that creature was doing it but whatever the case, it was a good thing.

With this, Felix would come out of her Evolution safely.

Or so he thought at least...
