Chapter 2505: Chapter 309
The villa community was serene and calm under the evening twilight.
A luxury car slowly stopped in front of the villa gates. Inside, Gu Zhitong said to Momo, "Momo, I won’t go in. You can go in by yourself."
"Maybe Tang Jinchen is inside."
"If he’s inside, just tell him I came by and ask him to go home and cook for me." Gu Zhitong smiled sweetly and joyfully, her eyebrows arching, which was quite enviable.
Momo glanced at her, "Alright, stop showing off your love, I’m getting off."
Gu Zhitong giggled and waved at Momo, "Bye, call me if anything comes up."
"You’re not going back tonight, right?"
Momo got out of the car. Before closing the door, she asked Gu Zhitong inside.
She wasn’t quite sure about the status between Gu Zhitong and Tang Jinchen, whether they were living together or she just occasionally visited him.
Gu Zhitong shook her head, "Not going back tonight."
Last year on Tang Jinchen’s birthday, she came to the villa to celebrate. Under the romantic ambiance of a candlelit dinner and music, things got out of control; everything happened in a passionate blaze.
Since then, she came to Tang Jinchen’s house frequently.
Just now, Gu Zhitong had told Momo in the car that the code to Ye Zhan’s home was her birthday.
She opened the door and entered.
There was a new pair of slippers placed at the entryway. Just as she was about to bend down to wear them, she heard footsteps coming from the living room.
Looking up, she saw Ye Zhan in casual home attire walking towards her.
Their eyes met, and the man’s handsome features softened, his mouth curved into a smile. His warm voice echoed in the quiet room, "Momo."
"Aren’t you resting?"
Momo was taken aback for a moment.
Her heart began to race irregularly.
Ye Zhan stood before her, his tall figure beside her, and his mature, masculine aura aggressively penetrated her lungs with her every breath.
The air was instantly tinged with a subtle tension.
"Give me the bag."
He reached out his left hand.
Momo’s gaze swept over his bandaged right hand, and she shook her head slightly with furrowed brows, "No need, I can carry it."
While saying that, she placed the bag on the small stool in front of her.
Ye Zhan watched her action, the curve of his lips deepening, but he didn’t insist on taking the bag. He just stood quietly and warmly in front of her, watching her bend down to change shoes.
"What did you buy?"
As she straightened up, his gaze shifted from her to the bag with a smile.
Momo chuckled lightly, "Some simple ingredients. You go rest for a while; I’ll call you when the congee is ready."
Standing in front of him, she felt uneasy.
His male presence was constantly affecting her thoughts.
Like this, she feared she wouldn’t even be able to focus on making congee.
Ye Zhan seemed unaware of the impact he had on her, smiling with a cheerful voice, "I can’t sleep. I’ll watch you make congee."
"What’s so interesting about that?"
Watching her pick up the bag, Ye Zhan turned to lead her to the kitchen.
With just the two of them in the villa, the atmosphere was unusual, subtly and slightly ambiguous shadows trailing them.
Momo walked behind Ye Zhan, her eyes fixed on his handsome, upright back, her emotions inexplicably drifting.
She didn’t notice Ye Zhan suddenly stopping up ahead.
She bumped straight into him.
"Ouch." She exclaimed softly, raising her eyes, with slight annoyance as she looked at the man who turned and looked at her with concern, "Why did you stop suddenly?"
"Where did you bump?"
Ye Zhan answered her question with another, his voice slightly hoarse.
"My nose."
"Let me rub it for you. Didn’t you see me stop?"
Seeing her aggrieved look, Ye Zhan couldn’t help but chuckle softly.
"No, you don’t have to."
If she had seen, she wouldn’t have bumped into him, right?
Before she could finish saying no, his warm fingers, slightly rough, had already reached her nose, and a curious sensation sparked like an electric current.
Momo’s heartbeat paused for a moment, and her body stiffened.
Ye Zhan’s gaze deepened, as the smooth skin under his fingers stirred something within him, and the delicate fragrance around made his voice even huskier, "Next time, watch where you’re going."
"..."
In Momo’s slightly widened pupils, the man’s sculpted features leaned down, her heartbeat losing rhythm amidst the growing aroma.
Panic flickered across her heart, and instinctively, she stepped back.
A trace of disappointment flashed through Ye Zhan’s dark eyes. Straightening up, he pointed to the nearby fridge, "Just the two of us won’t need all these ingredients for dinner. Put the rest in the fridge for tomorrow."
"Okay."
Momo softly agreed.
Calming her mood, she opened the fridge and put the ingredients not needed for tonight inside.
"There’s also liver?"
"Yeah."
"Do I need to do anything?"
Ye Zhan asked, looking at the ingredients she left out.
Momo shook her head, "No need."
Though born to a wealthy family, and her hands could have never touched kitchen work.
Still, she could make simple meals.
Ye Zhan raised an eyebrow, his thin lips curving as he looked at her, "Then I’ll just wait to eat?"
"Pretty much, so, you can go to the living room and watch TV, or..."
"I’ll watch you here."
Ye Zhan interrupted her, and although his words seemed calm and indifferent, they inexplicably carried an ambiguous and tender undertone.
Momo murmured a silent complaint.
Her eyes glanced at an apron hanging nearby. Her eyes flickered as she walked over, took it down, and put it on. She then turned her back to him and got busy without speaking further.
Ye Zhan really didn’t leave, standing beside Momo like a guardian, quietly and warmly watching as she cooked congee for him.
All the unpleasant emotions in his heart began to dissipate because of her, replaced by a warmth that made him feel his entire heart was both warm and content.
In the temporarily silent kitchen, the atmosphere was quiet and warm.
The only sounds were the running water, the washing of ingredients, and her chopping vegetables.
After the preparations were done, she put the congee on to cook and began slicing the vegetables.
"The dishes can’t be cooked for now, so I’m going out to watch some TV. If you want to stay here..."
"I’ll watch TV with you."
"..."
The two of them walked out of the kitchen one after the other and settled on the living room sofa.
Momo looked around, not spotting the remote control. She turned back to the man whose gaze was resting on her, "Where’s your TV remote?"
"..."
Ye Zhan’s gaze flickered but he didn’t answer.
Momo chuckled, "You don’t know either?"
"I do."
Ye Zhan pursed his lips, speaking in a low voice, with a somewhat unusual expression.
Momo didn’t think much of it, "Where is it?"
"In the drawer below."
Momo chuckled, bending down to open the drawer.
However, in the next moment, as she reached in to grab the remote, her hand suddenly paused.
Her clear eyes widened in surprise, staring at the contents of the drawer for two seconds before lifting her head to look at the man standing there with a calm expression.
