James touched his forehead in guilt and walked over.

"Mom."

Hearing the voice, Mrs. Taylor turned around. When she saw her son, she immediately rose to her feet. "James, tell me what’s going on. Why did the wedding go on like this?"

She looked anxious.

"Mom, it’s my fault. I shouldn’t have made you worry. But don’t worry, although the wedding didn’t go well, Yvonne and I have gotten the marriage certificate. See?"

With that, he showed his marriage certificate to her.

When she took it and flipped through it, she seemed to be relieved.

"That’s good. As long as you two are fine, it doesn’t matter if the wedding is successful or not. However, you have to ask her opinion and see if she wants to hold another wedding. After all, this is a big event in her life, you should it seriously."

He said, "I know. I’ll send you home now."

She nodded and left with him.

After James drove her home, he returned to his apartment by the lake.

Since Yvonne wanted to live in her original residence, he might as well listen to her.

Anyway, it didn’t matter where he lived.

Therefore, he packed up his daily necessities and headed toward her residence.

In the apartment...

As soon as Yvonne came out of the shower, the doorbell rang. She walked over and opened the door. When she saw James standing outside the door with a large suitcase, she was slightly stunned.

Only then did she realize that he was going to move in.

Although they were already married, she was still not used to live with him.

However, she still stepped aside and let him in.

He walked in with his suitcase and looked around.

The apartment was a loft, about 40 to 50 square meters. It was indeed a little small and not very suitable for being the matrimonial home.

However, the layout was warm.

He asked, "Where’s the kitchen?"

She showed him.

Then he put down his luggage and walked to the refrigerator with a shopping bag in his hand. He put the ingredients in the refrigerator and said, "I bought some ingredients on the way. What do you want to eat tonight?"

Yvonne did not say anything. She merely looked at the item in his hand.

In the past, she only ate outside and rarely cooked. Besides, she was not picky about food.

She said, "Do as you see fit."

He didn’t say anything more. After he put the food down, he washed his hands and dried them. Then he walked to her and said, "It’s too late to make arrangements here. I’ll send someone to clean up tomorrow."

Yvonne wanted to reject him. However, she realized that she had refused him to have a wedding and a honeymoon. Thus she felt if she were to reject even such a small request, it would be too disappointing.

She nodded. "OK."

He glanced upstairs and said, "The bedroom should be upstairs. I’ll put my luggage in first."

As he spoke, he carried his luggage upstairs.

Yvonne realized something and quickly followed after him.

He stopped at the door of the master bedroom and looked inside. He found that there was only one single bed, which was too small for his to sleep in. He thought, "How could it accommodate me and Yvonne?"

He frowned and realized that he should have come over earlier to understand the situation and make arrangements, but it was likely too late now.

Just as he was feeling annoyed, Yvonne walked up.

...

When she saw him stop at the door, she knew what he was thinking and said, "Well, you can sleep in the guest room first."

He nodded. <That’s exactly what I am thinking.

However, it’s not a good start to sleep separately on the wedding night.>

But he wasn’t a superstitious person. He was relieved after teasing in his heart.

Then James cooked the dinner himself.

Yvonne hadn’t cooked at home for a long time.

When she went downstairs, she saw a sumptuous dinner on the dining table. The candlelight on the table flickered and made her into a daze.

She felt as though she was in a strange place.

James set up the dining table. When he saw her coming downstairs, he took off the apron, adjusted his clothes, and said, "Time is limited so that I only cook several dishes. We’ll make do with the dinner tonight."

In fact, he made ample preparations. However, there were too many things missing here, so he could only simplify the dishes.

Yvonne did not say anything and walked over quietly.

James pulled out a chair for her, set up a tablecloth, picked up a wine glass, and said, "This is our first meal after marriage. Would you like some wine?"

She saw that he had been busy for so long and did not want to ruin his mood, so she nodded.

Thus James poured the wine into the glass and handed it to her. He then poured himself a glass and said, "I wish us a happy wedding."

He raised his glass, his handsome face brimming with joy and excitement.

However, Yvonne was not interested in this.

Because she knew that their marriage was just a transaction without any feelings.

<Would a marriage without love be happy? The answer is obvious.>

However, she still picked up the glass in the end.

At the very least, she was unwilling to ruin his mood at this moment.

She clinked glasses with him and watched him happily drinking up the wine. She took a few sips, but did not finish the wine in her glass.

Tonight, James was very excited. He drank glass after glass. After a while, he drank a lot, and his eyes were a little misty.

He suddenly held her hand and said, "Yvonne, I’m so happy tonight. It’s my luck to marry you."

She knew that he had drunk too much, so she withdrew her hand uncomfortably and said, "You’ve drunk too much. Let me help you back to your room."

He only said, "No... Not much, I can still drink..."

As he spoke, he was about to pour more wine for himself, but Yvonne stopped him.

She took his glass and put it aside, then helped him walk upstairs.

After staggering all the way to the guest room, Yvonne used all her strength to help him onto the bed. She took off his shoes and tucked him in.

She heaved a sigh of relief when she saw that he was sleeping soundly. Then she turned around and walked out.

It was a little cold in the early winter night.

After she returned to the bedroom, she did not immediately go to sleep. Instead, she stood in front of the window and stared at the night sky.

She didn’t know if it was right or wrong to marry him.

<But I know that this is the only way to quickly take revenge on Grace White.

However, I have become the person I hated before. That’s ironic.>

Thinking of this, she couldn’t help closing her eyes sadly.

The next morning, James woke up with a severe headache.

...

When he saw himself lying with clothes on an unfamiliar bed, he remembered that this was Yvonne’s residence.

<I drank too much last night. I shouldn’t do such a thing on my own wedding night.> James rubbed his temples and got out of bed, feeling a little annoyed.

When he passed by Yvonne’s bedroom, he paused for a moment and then reached out to knock on the door.

"Yvonne..."

Seeing that there was no response from inside, he hesitated for a moment and opened the door, only to find that she was not inside.

He went downstairs and looked around, but still couldn’t find her.

"Where did she go so early in the morning?"

Just as he was feeling confused, his phone rang. It was from Yvonne. He quickly picked it up.

"Yvonne, where have you been?"

Yvonne held the new phone she had just bought and came out of the mobile phone store. Her previous mobile phone had been robbed by Grace and Grace had not returned it to her since then.

So she simply went to the mobile phone store to buy another one and duplicated her phone card. Then she called and told him where she was.

"I’m outside, you eat breakfast yourself."

James nodded and said, "Okay."

"When are you coming back? Let’s go to the furniture mall and buy the bed."

Although he drank too much last night, he could still clearly feel the discomfort in his bed.

After all, when he got up in the morning, in addition to the headache caused by the hangover, his body didn’t feel very comfortable.

Yvonne paused for a moment and then hesitantly said, "Wait for me. I’ll be right back."

She hung up the phone and was about to take a taxi back. Suddenly, her phone rang. It was from her father, Brant White.

She hesitated for a moment before picking it up.

"Yvonne..."

Brant’s voice came from the other end of the line.

"What’s the matter?" Yvonne coldly answered.

"Can you meet me now?"

Hearing his voice, she closed her eyes and finally told him her address.

In the apartment, after James had breakfast, Yvonne still didn’t come back.

He was a little anxious.

<Didn’t she say she would come back soon?

Why hasn’t she come back?> Then he called her but she didn’t answeredanswer the phone.

He looked at the time and saw that it was already eleven o’clock. If he continued to wait, he was afraid that he would not have a comfortable bed to sleep at night.

Thinking of this, he simply sent her a message, asking her to go directly to the furniture mall to find him, and then he drove away alone.

At this time, in the quiet teahouse, Yvonne was still sitting there, and her father was sitting opposite her.

When Brant returned from a business trip and heard that Yvonne was married, he was stunned.

As her father, not only had he not received any news of her marriage, he was the last one to find out. It was a blow to him.

Fortunately, the wedding had not succeeded, which made him feel much more relieved.

"Yvonne... I know I owe you a lot all these years, but you should tell me about marriage. Otherwise, no one in our family support you and you will be looked down upon."

She did not say anything, just drank tea silently and listened to him.

Seeing that she didn’t show any intention of talking to him, Brant felt a little embarrassed, but he continued, "But don’t worry about the wedding. Dad will discuss it with the parents of the Taylor family and ask for an explanation for you."
