Flash Marriage: My Penniless Billionaire Husband
Chapter 366: A Rare Considerate Man"I know. I made the decision after deliberation, not on an impulse." Wanda said.
Christopher nodded. After watching Wanda leave, he withdrew his gaze.
He could let his mother deal with the shares, but he would not let Janice suffer without a cause.
Thinking of this, his eyes narrowed gloomily, and then he made a call.
Three days later, Wanda was already waiting in front of the Civil Affairs Bureau.
"Chairman, do you want to go in to sit and wait?" Rob asked.
In the winter morning, the sun had not risen yet, and the cold wind was blowing. Rob could not bear to see this.
Wanda shook her head. She had originally intended to come here by herself, but Christopher was still worried, and he specially let Rob accompany her.
"It doesn’t matter. I’ll just stand here and wait." She said.
Hearing her words, Rob did not try to persuade her anymore. He turned around and walked in alone. It didn’t take long for him to bring out a small disposable paper cup, which still steaming inside.
"Drink some hot water." Rob handed the cup over.
Wanda hesitated for a moment before receiving it and holding it in her hands.
Warmth spread from her palm to her body, and a trace of warmth appeared in her cold heart.
This reminded her of the day when she came out of the lawyer firm and saw a cab waiting for her.
There was no doubt that Rob was a rare considerate man.
This also made her even more determined about divorce.
She had never enjoyed such treatment after marrying Nathan for so many years.
He kept saying that he loved her, but he hadn’t done far more than an outsider.
Just at this time, even though they had made an appointment, he had not shown up yet. What’s more, there was not even a phone call.
Thinking of this, Wanda couldn’t help feeling a bit ironic.
"Chairman, you’d better wait inside. If you have any concerns, I can stand here for you." Rob suggested.
As he looked at her red hands, he felt sympathetic to her and said.
"Thank you for your kindness," said Wanda gratefully. "I’m not cold, and I’m not
afraid of the cold."
What she said was the truth. As long as she could end the wrong marriage, walk out of the current predicament, and regain the freedom she had yearned for a long time, there was nothing she would be afraid of.
Compared with the cold weather, she was more afraid of the coldness of being trapped in the icehouse of marriage.
Seeing this, Rob stopped trying to persuade her. After a moment of hesitation, he took off the scarf around his neck and handed it over.
"Why don’t you wear this?" He said.
Wanda glanced at his hand, shook her head and tactfully refused.
Rob was about to say something when a black car stopped in front of them.
The car door was opened and Nathan got out.
Wanda breathed a sigh of relief when she saw Nathan.
He finally came here.
Rob could only put away the scarf and quietly retreat to the side.
"You’re finally here." Said Wanda.
Nathan stopped in front of her. He glanced at her face that was already turning a little purple from the cold. He said, "Let’s go."
Wanda nodded and couldn’t wait to turn around.
They entered the Civil Affairs Bureau one after another.
There were still people before them, so they could only wait there.
Wanda took out the agreement she had prepared and handed it over. "This is the divorce agreement I asked someone to draft. Take a look at it. Sign it if you have no objections."
However, Nathan stared at the agreement she handed over, he did not reach out to take it. Instead, he said, "Unfortunately, I also asked someone to draft an agreement. Why don’t you take a look at mine first?"
After saying that, he asked Charlie to hand over the contract.
...
Wanda did not expect him to do this trick. However, she knew that he always started from the point of view of his own interests. If he had not done this, he would not have been the person she knew.
Wanda sneered and reached out to receive the agreement. However, she opened it and was stunned after reading its contents. "Are you sure?"
She looked at Nathan.
Nathan nodded. "Wanda, let’s go our separate ways and be amicable. This is my compensation for what I’ve done for you all these years."
Wanda found his words hilarious.
She never cared about his compensation.
However, since he was willing to give it to her, why not accept it?
It’s a waste if she didn’t take it. She nodded and said, "Okay, I’ll sign it."
After that, she picked up the pen and was about to sign her name.
However, she was stopped by Nathan. "Don’t you think about it anymore?"
Wanda looked at him in confusion.
Nathan explained, "Although I respect your decision, I still hope that you can think about it carefully. It’s not like we don’t have feelings for each other. Besides, we don’t have to divorce, so..."
"Did you want to go back on your words?" Wanda interrupted him.
Nathan stared at her and sighed. "That’s not what I meant."
"Fine. Then don’t talk about it anymore." As she spoke, she pushed his hand away and signed the agreement directly.
"Since I’ve already signed yours, mine is not needed." Wanda said.
She handed her agreement to Rob.
Nathan couldn’t even turn things around anymore. In fact, he already knew what would happen on the way here. Since he could change nothing, there was no need to force it. He nodded and said, "We’ll do as you say."
After that, the divorce certificate and equity transfer agreement were handled successfully.
When she walked out of the Civil Affairs Bureau, Nathan called out to her. "Wanda, although we are no longer couple in legal, with Christopher’s existence, there will always be a tie between us."
Hearing what he said, Wanda just glanced at him and went straight to the car without saying a word.
On the way back, Wanda had been staring at the divorce certificate in her hand since she got in the car.
She got divorced. After ten long years of delay, she finally divorced as she wished.
Looking at the divorce certificate, Wanda felt relieved. Suddenly, she felt as if she had been reborn, and she could not help but smile.
Rob saw Wanda’s expression in the rearview mirror. After a pause, he asked, "Chairman, where are we going now?"
Wanda thought for a moment before she said, "Send me home."
She wanted to tell this thing to the person she cared about the most as soon as possible.
In the hospital ward, Janice was lying on the bed, and Christopher was sitting next to her.
"Chris, read it quickly. I can’t wait." Janice urged him.
Christopher’s expression was distress. At this time, he was holding a romance novel in his hand.
Yesterday, Janice was bored and asked him to buy a few books to read. He bought some books for her, but she wasn’t satisfied with them.
So he simply asked the bookstore staff to bring baskets of books for her to choose books she liked.
He hadn’t thought that Janice would choose such a romance novel and insist on letting him read it out.
Christopher felt a headache coming on. Usually, it was easy for him to read a storybook for their baby, but how to read a romance novel?
Besides, how could a man like him read that? He thought.
...
"Can you change another book?" Christopher was vexed.
"No, I just like reading this book." Janice insisted.
Christopher had no choice but to agree. All right, since she wanted to hear it, he could read it for her.
However, before he read the book, he secretly got up and closed the door behind him.
After returning to his seat, Christopher slowly read, "The most luxurious hotel in the city..."
"Your voice is too low, read it louder." Janice interrupted.
Christopher frowned, tugged at the tie around his neck, and raised his voice. "In the most luxurious hotel in the city, there was an ambiguous gasp from the corridor..."
Glancing at the words below, Christopher couldn’t read it anymore. "What is this?" He thought.
He felt that his throat was a little dry and said awkwardly, "I’d better change a book."
Janice was unwilling and asked. "Why?"
She just felt bored, so she wanted to choose this romance novel to have a fun.
Christopher put the book away. "This book is not advantageous for prenatal education."
"But now It’s not read to the baby. I want to hear it." Janice refuted.
Christopher asked, "Are you sure the baby can’t hear it?"
Janice thought about it and agreed. However, she still insisted. "It doesn’t matter even if our baby hears it. It’s just a normal book."
Christopher was speechless after hearing her words. He could only pick up the book again and continue reading.
At that moment, there was a knock on the door suddenly.
Christopher felt as if he was rescued.
"I’ll take a look." As he spoke, he put the book aside and stood up to open the door.
When Christopher opened the door and saw Joey standing outside, he could not help but be stunned.
"Why are you here?" He asked.
Joey stood at the door with a few boxes of tonic products in his one hand and Anna
in the other hand. He said guiltily, "I heard from my dad that he accidentally hurt Mrs. Bateman that day. He blamed himself, so I came over to take a look."
Christopher said, "It’s all right. You can go back."
He was just about to close the door, but Joey said, "Chris, we’re all here. Please let us in."
"Who is that? Chris?" Janice’s voice came from behind him.
Christopher was about to reply, but Joey spoke before him. "Mrs. Bateman, I brought Anna to visit you."
When Janice heard that Anna was here, she hurriedly said, "Come in." Hearing Janice’s words, Joey looked at Christopher.
Although Christopher was unwilling, he had no choice but to step aside after hearing Janice’s words.
Only then did Joey came in with Anna.
Janice was delighted to see Anna. "Anna, come here."
Anna was no stranger to Janice, so she walked over shakily.
While Janice was talking to Anna, Joey placed the gift on the table next to him. With Christopher’s existence, he was particularly restrained in front of Janice.
"Mrs. Bateman, I’m really sorry. My father didn’t do it on purpose that day. He blamed himself and asked me to apologize to you on his behalf." Joey said as he bowed sincerely.
Janice was playing with Anna when she heard his words. She raised her head to look at him.
"I know that Charlie didn’t do it on purpose. I won’t blame him." She said.
"Thank you, Mrs. Bateman." When hearing this, Joey felt much more at ease.
"Auntie, do you have a baby in your belly?" Anna stood by the bed, extremely curious about Janice’s belly.
Janice smiled and said, "You are so smart."
"Can I touch it?" Anna asked.
