Reality Time: AM07:26
"Face the reality, sister."
Elegantly picking up a napkin to wipe her mouth, Ji Xiaodao lightly stood up and left the dining table, walking over to the introverted pretty girl who had been squatting by the living room sofa drawing circles since earlier. She reached out and ruffled the girl’s slightly frizzy shoulder-length hair: "Be good, eat your breakfast."
Ji Xiaoge pouted, turning her face away indignantly. Rarely acting petty with her sister, she protested, "I won’t eat!"
"You have to eat."
Looking amused at her sister’s rare tantrum, Ji Xiaodao seriously held up her index finger and shook it: "If you don’t eat breakfast, you’ll have no energy all day."
Ji Xiaoge snorted, hugging her knees and turning 180 degrees, leaving only a graceful back view for her favorite sister: "Not eating, not eating, just not eating. No appetite! Dieting!"
"Alright, alright."
With a helpless sigh, Ji Xiaodao seemed to give up and returned to the dining table, tidying up dishes while saying, "Then I’ll join you in dieting, sister. If you don’t eat breakfast, I’ll skip lunch and dinner, too. Anyway, it’s so hot, I really don’t have much appetite."
Then Ji Xiaoge suddenly sprang up, charging towards Ji Xiaodao with determination, chest out, head up, left hand on her hip, right hand pointed steadily at Ji Xiaodao’s nose. She shouted, "You must eat... Ugh!"
"Alright, I’ll listen to you, sister."
Just two seconds earlier, Ji Xiaodao swiftly stuffed a small steamed bun into her sister’s mouth, then cheerfully circled to Ji Xiaoge’s back, pressing her into a chair and magically restoring buns, wontons, sweet soy milk, and a small cup of rice vinegar onto the table, smiling: "Then hurry up and eat breakfast."
"Argh!"
Ji Xiaoge’s expression turned mournful as she attempted to whine.
The general meaning is that she’s still upset, and her sister shouldn’t just do this—she needs more coaxing.
"Argh~"
Unexpectedly, the normally cool and stoic Ji Xiaodao tilted her head and, mimicking a kitten, raised her hands to her chest, batting her eyes in a pitifully cute manner.
Then the sister who had intended to put up some resistance completely fell apart.
"Darn it ahhhhh!!!"
While stuffing a bun into her mouth, Ji Xiaoge painfully and indistinctly shouted, "Xiaodao, how can you be so... cute... Eu!"
Ji Xiaodao immediately handed the soy milk to her sister who choked from eating too fast, gently patting Ji Xiaoge’s back to help her: "Eat slower..."
"Gulp gulp gulp... Ugh!"
"I said eat slower!"
"Hehe~"
"Stop giggling and eat your breakfast properly!"
"Okay!"
...
Just like that, under Ji Xiaodao’s soft (cute whining) and hard (diet threat) tactics, the sister, who usually acted more childish, finally finished her breakfast and resumed sulking.
"I thought you loved me, Xiaodao!"
Pouting like a hamster, Ji Xiaoge sorrowfully pressured her sister who was washing dishes.
"Of course, I love you."
Ji Xiaodao nodded, skillfully tidying up while laughing without turning around: "Love you very much."
Ji Xiaoge maintained her hamster-like pout, muttering angrily: "But now even you started criticizing my cooking..."
"Everyone has things they’re good at and not so good at."
Having rinsed her hands, Ji Xiaodao turned off the tap and playfully flicked water onto her sister’s pretty face: "Actually, you know in your heart that in the realm of cooking, you lack a little talent... Although it could also be seen as another type of talent from a different angle."
Ji Xiaoge wrinkled her nose, dashed over to Ji Xiaodao, hugged her tightly, and buried her head in her chest, muffling, "But, Xiaodao, you never said this before!"
"Because we used to live with Mom and Dad."
Ji Xiaodao wrapped her arm around her sister’s shoulder, smiling: "Back then, even if you and Mom occasionally made some midnight snacks, I could always make Dad eat most of it."
"Dad ate happily!"
Ji Xiaoge said loudly.
"Aunt White mentioned before; Dad had trained himself. Otherwise, he would’ve been doomed when he was dating Mom."
Ji Xiaodao calmly provided the answer.
"But Grandpa also liked Mom’s and my cooking!"
Ji Xiaoge strongly protested.
"Grandpa secretly told me that one reason he agreed to let Dad date Mom was Dad’s promise to him, ’Leave all the food your daughter cooks to me.’"
Ji Xiaodao reasoned.
"You’re lying, Xiaodao! Every time we eat together, Dad is always diligently serving Grandpa food! All cooked by Mom and me!"
Ji Xiaoge voiced disbelief.
"Yep, because he’s already gotten all he wanted from Mom and even has two wonderful daughters. What can Grandpa do to him?"
Ji Xiaodao replied expressionlessly.
"Wow! Is Dad really that bad?"
Ji Xiaoge was shocked.
"Isn’t Dad bad?"
Ji Xiaodao counter-questioned.
