Four Split Personalities

Chapter 2504 - 1181: Dark Forest

Game Time AM00:12

Academy City’s Law Enforcement Headquarters 3F, Office No. 1

"An’s situation is all normal."

The purple-haired Flower Elf, holding a storybook in her arms, walked into the office and softly reported to Foster Ward, who was gently stroking a paper fan: "That Mr. Ramollok doesn’t seem to be lying. Based on An’s own feedback, it was indeed like he was having a ’lucid dream’ before."

Foster nodded slightly and calmly asked: "Does he remember when he woke up from that ’lucid dream’?"

"When he was walking the Chief Priest Ramollok up to the third floor, less than twenty meters from this office."

Lian, who had tried to understand the situation as much as possible, answered without hesitation. Then she casually put the book from her arms on the table, leaning down to tidy up the teacup used by Ramollok earlier, and said: "According to An, it was only then that he gradually came to his senses and began to question whether his actions were somewhat inappropriate, but in such a situation, he had no other options."

Foster chuckled and ’swish’ opened the fan in his hand, smiling: "An has always had a great potential for growth in terms of adaptability. Perhaps I should let him take charge of some more flexible tasks after a while."

"Spence will definitely try to follow along."

Lian also laughed and shook her head: "And she’ll probably use the excuse ’I’m just afraid you’ll mess things up and give the captain a headache, not because I’m worried about you, you idiot’ to hide her concern."

Foster raised the folding fan to shield half of his face and chuckled gently: "In the words of those Otherworlders, such a personality should be called..."

"Tsundere."

Lian answered with a slightly raised corner of her mouth.

"Seriously, Lian."

Foster folded the fan, lightly tapping his forehead with it, and asked with a somewhat subtle expression: "Why is it that even though you hardly ever leave the Law Enforcement Force and Student Council, except to shop with Spence and Qianniao, you know so much?"

With brisk steps, Lian walked to her own desk, not far behind Foster, and sat down. As she quietly looked through the storybook titled "Big Brother’s Shadow · Bloodstained Black Street II," she gently answered: "Perhaps there’s a small reason; it’s an instinct I developed unconsciously from mimicking the adults in my family a long time ago."

Feeling enlightened, Foster uttered ’oh,’ knowing little about Lian Yuan Rui’s true identity within the circle, he wouldn’t be surprised at this young woman mimicking such a level of intelligence gathering ability.

You don’t even need to think to know that the professionals among Lian’s family in certain domains are absolutely trustworthy.

"So, that’s only a small reason?"

Multitasking, Foster pulled over two pages of reports that needed his direct review, mentally pondering about the Death Angel family composition, and continued to ask: "What about the other major reason?"

Lian sighed softly and shook her head slightly, somewhat helplessly: "I’m the Law Enforcement Force’s Secretary General, Foster. The contents that need your personal review are the ones I picked out, and most of the paperwork is also done by me..."

"So?"

"You should be very aware of how much of a massive entity the Law Enforcement Force has become in these past few years. Working in such a place every day, even if I don’t intentionally learn, the amount of information I can know is plenty."

"Really?"

"Yes."

"Impressive."

"Honored by the praise, truly honored."

The two exchanged a smile, enjoying the conversation despite its lack of substance.

Afterwards, Foster continued reviewing the reports and documents in front of him at an almost unbelievable speed, while Lian quietly continued browsing the book filled with blood, violence, adolescent themes, bromance, sunsets, and running inspiration stories.

Setting aside the book’s contents, it was undoubtedly a harmonious and atmospheric scene.

Typically, this ambiance would last until about three o’clock in the morning, when Lian would walk over to Foster upon believing he should rest, and casually organize or pile up the pending tasks or just offer a cup of tea at his desk, then the two would leave together.

Foster would escort Lian to the girl’s courtyard of the Law Enforcement Force (if male members need to stay, they can only sleep in the duty room or on the sofa in the second-floor lounge), and then return alone to the academy dormitory. Occasionally, if there was an early class, Lian would also go back to the academy with Foster and stay a night in her dormitory, which she hasn’t frequented often in recent years.

However, today, it seemed neither of them was particularly focused on their routine tasks.

"That Chief Priest Ramollok from the Dream Sect..."

After reading a couple of sections, Lian suddenly broke the silence softly, with an uncertain tone: "I think he is not simple."

Foster did not turn around; he just shrugged, while continuing to annotate the document in front of him, and said faintly: "Indeed, in my opinion, that person’s true nature might be entirely different from what he presents."

"No problem?"

Lian seemed somewhat worried.

"No problem, the Chief Priest Ramollok’s motives are straightforward."
