Four Split Personalities

Isaac Comprehensive College is situated near the north gate of the outer ring area of Academy City. Although it bears the rather impressive name of ’Comprehensive College,’ it doesn’t have any advantages in terms of scale, heritage, history, or outstanding graduates compared to other institutions within the city. Its faculty strength is also moderate. From an objective perspective, the term ’third-rate’ is relatively apt.

Of course, the so-called ’third-rate’ is a result of a horizontal comparison with other institutions in the city, which naturally includes notable ones like White Oath Knight Academy, Dan Slave Military Academy, and Aidenburg Mage Academy. Knight majors are called Knight Academies, those excelling in military domains are called Military Academies, those staffed with at least double-digit Epic Peak or even Sage appearances are called Mage Academies, those abundant in slick talkers are called Divinity Schools, and those without distinct features... well, they are called Comprehensive Colleges.

Of course, there are exceptions, as some colleges are named Comprehensive Colleges simply because they excel in multiple domains.

For example, Phoenix Comprehensive Academy, which firmly holds the No.1 position in Academy City with over 170 specialized majors, is extraordinarily outstanding, truly without any blind spots.

However, unlike most regular colleges, Phoenix Comprehensive Academy does not accept common students or special admissions. Its enrollment threshold is very straightforward: having completed five years of coursework at any academy within Academy City, and having fulfilled the required credits at least a year before graduation.

Once you meet this seemingly simple condition, you qualify for advanced study at Phoenix Comprehensive Academy for one to two years, and then you... graduate, what else could it be?

If a diploma from any academy within Academy City is sufficient to pave a smooth path for someone, then a completion certificate from Phoenix Comprehensive Academy can make that person’s future bright and sought-after.

As for why it’s described as ’seemingly simple,’ that’s because... it’s actually quite difficult.

To maintain its reputation, though each academy within Academy City differs in various aspects, under the coordination of the elders’ meeting, they still share several commonalities. For instance, regardless of the academy or specialization, the majority follow a seven-year system, which is simply divided into seven grades, each with two grade leaders, typically one male and one female. Additionally, each academy generally has one to two student union presidents, usually one male and one female, namely Male Student Union President and Female Student Union President.

However, considering certain academies have long-term shortages of male students/female students, the system of having two grade leaders and two student union presidents is no longer universal.

Lastly, regardless of the academy, only students who have earned seven hundred credits are eligible for graduation.

Under the regulation of the elders’ meeting, although the types vary, the credit standards and difficulty levels for earning credits across academies are largely the same. Motan once (when his personality was ’Chaotic Neutral’) did a simple survey and concluded that if a student is ’excellent in both character and study, never late nor leaving early, excelling in all academic work including practical exams,’ they could earn around 105-110 credits annually, and if they simultaneously serve as a ’grade leader’ or ’Male/Female Student Union President,’ they could earn around 108-113 credits.

For most students who aren’t such ’good children,’ as long as they pass their coursework satisfactorily, manage to pass the comprehensive exams within three attempts at the end of the semester, even with occasional tardiness, skipping classes, overnight absences, or getting into fights, they can earn between 85-100 credits annually.

From the above, we can derive two conclusions:

First, as long as a student isn’t completely hopeless, theoretically, their credits after seven years will hardly be less than 595 points, and for students whose annual credits are below 100, each academy will issue some 10-15 credit worth of public service-oriented ’additional internships.’ For students graduating with credits below 650, academies will provide just enough ’graduation internships’ to push those credits to 700, simply put, as long as they don’t slack off too much, graduating smoothly isn’t much of a problem.

Second, even for the theoretically most excellent students, after seven years, they can earn a maximum of 791 credits; a year earlier, it would be 678 credits, still 12 credits shy of Phoenix Comprehensive Academy’s further study threshold.

Given that students who average 100 credits annually cannot participate in ’additional internships,’ they cannot earn extra credits this way.

This means that even if a student excels in all subjects, maintains a grade leader position from the first year of enrollment, and later becomes the student union president, they still cannot fulfill the credits in the sixth year.

Of course, there are methods to earn extra credits, but... they’re quite difficult.
