Sin King’s Fist!
As these four words rang out one after another in the raging storm that had yet to subside, the entire command center instantly sank into a deathly silence; a certain aura, interwoven with fear and despair, was madly spreading, gripping the heart of every single person present in an iron clutch.
The next second, another deafening boom exploded; at the very instant that sky‑piercing black beam of light flared up, a radio operator who could barely force out a sound suddenly toppled from his chair onto the floor, his voice trembling: "Fifth Mixed Legion, [Veteran] Unit... Silence, he’s here!"
It was clearly a warm season, yet a biting chill simultaneously burrowed out of everyone’s heart, seeping into their limbs and bones. Even though the closest Sin Soak Tower had already been destroyed by the Dragon Clan, just those four words—[Sin King’s Fist]—were more despair‑inducing than a hundred Sin Soak Towers!
Only one person not only did not sink into despair, he even dragged his companions out of that suffocating feeling that was enough to drown a man.
"Sin King’s Fist, huh... he really thinks highly of me..."
Richard Ryan grinned, strode over to the radio operator who had collapsed on the ground and hauled him up in one go, those domineering Lion Eyes locking firmly onto the latter: "Your work isn’t finished yet, soldier. I should still be able to count on you, right?"
Though his face was deathly pale and his body kept trembling beyond his control, the other still straightened his chest and squeezed out a hoarse answer through his teeth: "Yes, General!"
"Good."
Richard gave a small nod, his sharp gaze sweeping across everyone present: "And you? Do you choose to throw yourselves to the ground under that Demon general’s fearsome name and quietly await Death, or... heh, fine, at least you’ve got some backbone."
At those companions who directly ignored the latter half of his words and simply resumed their work on their own, Richard let out a light chuckle, and in the next second issued clear and precise orders just like always: "From now on, maintain continuous full‑band broadcasting. Order all friendly forces within our communications coverage range to immediately retreat to Position 799."
"Yes, General!"
All the radio operators on the command links answered in unison, turning a deaf ear to the deafening explosions in the distance.
"Notify Mr. Karuz, tell him and his friends to do everything they can to pin down Sin King’s Fist at maximum engagement distance."
"Yes, General!"
"Draft an intel report and send it back to the First Command Hub. Tell Hei Fan that there is a high probability Sin King’s Fist will lead the [Black Absolute Legion] to assault our final line of defense. No reinforcements necessary; Richard Ryan’s command will hold him at any cost, and can buy at most two... no, three days of time."
"Yes, General!"
"Assemble all [Eco‑Gardener Type III] units at Position 799. That will be our first defensive line. Besides that, have the Otherworlders Special Operations Regiment ready themselves with the resolve to be wiped out to the last man at Position 799. Anyone who doesn’t want to lose their account can... forget it, saying it is pointless, those guys don’t even know what fear is."
"Yes, General!"
"Also, have the [Radio] units break down into smaller elements and immediately deploy to search for friendly forces. A silent comms channel doesn’t necessarily mean complete annihilation. I need my orders to reach the ears of every intelligent being in this region."
"Yes, General!"
"Order all rear‑echelon units to assemble. From this moment on, every one of our positions goes to maximum alert status. Have the Supervising Battle detachments ready; inform the entire army that anyone who dares disturb morale—kill them, one by one, and strike them from the rolls."
"Yes, General!"
"Order..."
Richard hesitated for a moment, but in the end still spoke in a deep voice: "Have the Penitent Battle Group come directly here. Tell the officer in charge, Hess Winterfang, to come see me."
"Yes, Gen... General?"
The radio operator and the Counselor, who had reflexively answered, froze at the same time. After quite a while, the former finally asked in shock: "You mean, instead of sending the Penitent Battle Group straight to Position 799, you want them to come to us directly?!"
Richard took a deep breath, his eyes nearly splitting as he ground out: "Don’t make me repeat myself a second time."
"Yes, General!"
...
Fifteen minutes later
"Ri... mm, General Laine."
Instinctively brushing back his brown hair soaked with sweat and blood, his War Armor already badly damaged in large sections, Hess, whose face could not conceal his exhaustion, strode up to Richard and asked in a low voice: "Why are you still here?"
"Because your fiancé has something to say to you."
Completely unconcerned about the people around them, Richard gently caressed Hess’s cheek, then took his lover’s warm little hand and led him out of the tent. Only after they had left everyone’s line of sight did he speak softly: "Heather, my dear, I order you..."
"Order me?"
The flush on Heather’s face had yet to fade; she slightly furrowed her brows, her Lion Eyes on Richard filled with confusion.
"Mm, yeah, of course."
Richard smiled, then shifted his gaze away: "It’s... it’s like this. I’m ordering you to immediately return to the First Command Hub and personally deliver this important intel to Hei Fan. I’ve already prepared a [Gafei Cat Type IX] for you, it’s in the woods just behind the position, you’ll find it easily."
With that, he stuffed a thick letter sealed with red wax into Heather’s hands, and placed a light kiss on her forehead.
"Important... intel."
Heather froze for a moment, then lowered his head to look at the thick letter in his hands. After a long silence, he finally said softly: "Richard..."
