Four Split Personalities
Chapter 2699 - 1276: Richard Ryan’s Exclusive Interview [End]_2Miranda looked even more bewildered, stunned for quite a while before clumsily asking, "Then why... um... why do you want to clear Aunt Heather’s name now? You’ve been married for more than half a year, haven’t you?"
"Because I was still holding onto a shred of fantasy before."
Richard shrugged and sighed deeply, "Fantasy that she would leave me when she couldn’t take it anymore."
"Why?"
Miranda was shocked then.
"Because of a terrible misunderstanding."
Heather breezily said, carrying a basket of bread as she walked into the room, lazily glancing at the almost terrified Miranda and Richard, and then moving beside the former, she vigorously ruffled Miranda’s hair, "The rest isn’t something a good child should know."
Though Miranda felt a mountain of pressure in front of this charismatic lady, she bravely upheld the fearless professional spirit, courageously saying loudly, "Aunt Heather! I’m not a good child!"
"Oh, really?"
Heather’s lips curled into a smile, teasingly saying, "Bad children get their heads twisted off by the mother tiger~"
"Whoa!"
The young reporter’s courage vanished without a trace as she screamed, "Aunt Heather, don’t kill me!"
"Just kidding."
Heather chuckled, taking a fragrant bread ring from the basket and handing it to Miranda, asking, "How’s the interview going?"
"Actually, it’s still..."
Miranda hadn’t finished speaking when she noticed Aunt Heather’s gaze suddenly become sharp, she immediately changed her words, "Almost! Almost! Grandpa Richard was very cooperative!"
"If you call him grandpa, then you should call me Grandma Heather."
Showing none of the usual female sensitivity about age, Heather corrected seriously, gently patting Miranda’s little head, "In that case, I won’t keep you for dinner."
"Yes!"
Miranda shivered, then quickly stood up as though granted amnesty, first bowing deeply to Heather, then nodding slightly to Richard before saying very obediently, "I’ll be leaving now, Aunt Heather! Uncle Richard!"
Richard, with a helpless smile, combed through his white hair, "Uncle, huh..."
"Do you really want her to call us grandpa and grandma?"
Heather raised an eyebrow.
"Girl! Be smart!"
Richard immediately turned to Miranda, seriously saying, "Next time call us brother and sister!"
"Have some shame."
Heather swiftly slapped the back of Richard’s head, making the old man stagger.
"Ah ha... Ah hahahaha..."
Miranda laughed awkwardly twice, bowed to the two again, then rushed out of their house without looking back, sprinting at full speed.
...
Two minutes later
"Did you have a pleasant chat?"
Heather, fastening her apron, asked Richard without turning her head while slicing bread in the kitchen.
"Hmm, the little girl is quite cute and well-mannered."
Richard nodded, smiling wryly, "But as for me, I almost fell asleep while talking."
Heather’s form paused slightly, then asking casually, "Had a nightmare again?"
"How did you know!"
Richard turned his head sharply towards Heather.
"Haven’t you ever noticed... though you’ve insisted on sleeping in separate rooms over the years, every morning we wake up in the same bed?"
Heather smiled slightly, saying lightly, "After so long, even a fool knows what you dream about every night."
Richard abruptly stood up angrily, "You..."
"Your legs aren’t well, sit down!"
Heather slammed the knife onto the chopping board with a ’thud’.
"Oh..."
Richard obediently sat down, continuing his anger, "Since you know I’m having nightmares, why don’t you wake me up!"
"Because when you’re calling ’Heather’ deeply in your sleep, it’s different from when you’re awake."
Heather gave a radiant smile, turning provocatively to lift her chin towards Richard, "Though I’m tired of hearing your sleep talk, maybe it’s time to face reality, old fellow."
Richard silently moved his gaze away, remaining silent for a long time before lightly sighing, "Yeah, you really wore out your youth..."
Thud!!!
This time the knife made intimate contact with the surface underneath the chopping board.
"Mr. Richard, can I understand that... You think I’ve gotten old?"
"No!!!"
"Louder, whispering like that and you want to live?"
"No! Lady! Absolutely not! Lady!"
"Very good, go on, husband."
"Um..."
"Speak."
"Oh, well! What I mean is... I... even if I keep insisting, it’s meaningless, isn’t it?"
"Your insistence had no meaning from the start."
"I don’t understand, Heather..."
"Don’t understand what?"
Bringing the sliced bread to Richard, Heather Winterfang sat in the place Miranda recently occupied, looking at Richard with interest.
"Why you would forgive me."
Richard gazed deeply into her gentle and placid eyes, softly asking, "You said yourself, you no longer love me, you should hate me, you should hate me forever."
"I’ve also told you eighteen hundred sixty-six times, including now, it’s eighteen hundred sixty-seven times, Mr. Richard Ryan, I was lying to you because you’re a despicable coward, and I had to push you to where you were truly needed."
